This shop doesn’t have as many hats compared to the shop off Hillcrest. I believe this is their clearance store so that may explain it. I would opt for the Hillcrest shop over this one first. The service was still friendly though.

Large selection, found what I wanted, and the service was good. The only thing, they close at 6? Kinda hard to make it home from the office and get to the shop before they close on a week day.

We had some out of town guests who stopped into the store in Hillcrest. A perfect hat was found but it was the wrong size. The clerk suggested my friend GO to each of the other stores in San Diego to see if they have the correct sizes. Doesn’t the phone system work? We tried calling the other two stores and left messages — 3 times with never a returned call to us. Never.

Rudy is the best! Great recommendations, knew his stuff and guided me toward the correct hats for my needs! Especially with my big noggin, hats are hard to find — not for this shop!

The Village Hat Shop is a fantastic place to find everything from bowlers to top hats to fedoras! They carry a wide variety of hats from different makers, including Steampunk leather top hats and newsboy hats in several colors/patterns. This branch used to be a warehouse only, but not it has been turned into a retail/warehouse spot. This branch also has a yearly sale with fantastic discounts! The Village Hat Shop also makes their own hats in the back of the shop(the brand is Jaxon), which is wonderful because few hats are made in the US. They make nearly any style of hat I can think of, including top hats and the Fez. It’s also possible to buy most Jaxon hats in bulk, which gives a great discount. The staff is always very friendly and courteous, and the quality of the hats they carry is top notch!
