Attended for a private event in their upstairs bar, Steph the bartender took great care of all of us. the place had a great atmosphere and after the event some of us stuck around for the live music. a great bar — will definitely be back

Tacos are very small. It doesn’t worth a dime, not mention 2 or 3 dollars on taco’s day. And they don’t even provide chips and salsa for the tiny meal. Thus I have to go to another place to fill up my stomach after ordered 4 tacos here. This is the first restaurant that I feel being cheated. Definitely never come again!

This place is awesome! They serve brunch! It was quiet but we had delicious bottomless mimosas(oj, cranberry, peach), bacon Bloody Mary, and Benedicts. I ordered the PBD pulled pork, yummy!!! The tater tots are on point! Everything was delicious! Stephanie is fantastic! She is super friendly, funny, patient, and efficient. Not only did she take care of us with our drinks and food, she also talked and joked with us, introduced us to the other staff members and made us feel so comfortable! Love her! The bathrooms(banos) are clean and nice, a plus! We were here for hours! We were still here when our server, Stephanie, was done with her shift! The our next server was super cool and friendly too. Everyone is so friendly here! Will definitely return!

First time here and we had a good time. We came by during happy hour and had a couple drinks. They were closing early for a private event so we didn’t stay long. I had a pacific padre drink that was good and my friend had a domestic draft. Our waiter was super nice and attentive but sadly I didn’t get his name. Fun atmosphere inside and a clean bathroom. #sandiegofoodgirls

We were on a über ride, so this dude was late to work, so he wanted to get off a few blocks behind. I was like where you work at dude, he said at a bar, i was like where so you can hook it up, he said tin roof and got his name too. . I was so excited to go see him and get hook up, after were were done changing it was time to go get some drinks. When we arrived we didn’t even see him, til later. We totally got played cuz he surely couldn’t hook us up if he’s not even a bartender, talking about late opening up the bar. lol . Anyways we enjoyed our drinks from the downstairs then went up stairs for a better view of the down stairs. Ordered another drink and we were hangry now. We ordered a crab cake sandwich something. After waiting 40 mins, we had to flag them down and she said they ran out of the crab. We were like bull crap, make us wait so long and don’t even tell us, until we approach the server. We were so disappointed we got our money back and just left. . Overall i was a fan of this bar, but that experience and customer service with follow up was kind of ridiculous. Although i do enjoy the live band singing their lungs off. Great vibes and good crowd of mixture. Thanks for reading and drink up yo! PS don’t forget to check in on Unilocal and get $ 5 off your entire bill.

I love coming here to play beer pong, listen to music and enjoy some drinks! I came for some day drinking as well and tried the nacho French fries which were pretty bomb for drunk food.

I had never been to Tin Roof before and all my friends raved about it so we decided to go one night. A server there, Sierra was so sweet! She went as far as suggesting a table to be able to see the band better and got us drink really fast. She made food suggestions which were killer good and even brought H2O without us asking. It was a good atmosphere and we all had a great time! We have gone back a few times since then and make no mistake, we always sit in Sierra’s section!

Be prepared to wait forever for someone to acknowledge you are there, including the security guard(no clue why one is here) to check your ID and let you in. It feels like trying to get into a nightclub when all you really want to do is eat some grilled cheese. Once the waitress did approach, she was friendly and the food was good.

I’m a huge fan of Tin Roof! On the weekends, they’ve always got great live music playing without a cover charge. It’s a fun place to hang out and grab a drink with friends. The drinks are all fairly priced and there’s a lot of space to play games like giant jenga and beer pong. I recently grabbed some food here after the Padres game and was also pleasantly surprised by the taste. I had a delicious turkey burger. Service was really, really slow, but the girl waiting on us was brand new, so I’ll give that to her. Overall, great place to come to listen to music and have fun. Doesn’t get too rowdy like some other places. It’s more of a chill spot.

Made a day/night trip to downtown SD this past late summer. This was our last stop of the night, first was dinner(Werewolf), then afterwards a comedy club(Mad House). I will try to squeeze in all three reviews today. After getting our buzz on at the comedy club we wandered over here with our Millennial son and daughter in law. There were a few people in our age bracket(50ish), but mostly the mid-20s to 40ish crowd. They had a live band this night and they played rock music, which we enjoyed. The drinks were fair priced, the wait service okay, and they had table games, pool tables and a raised shuffle board outside in the smoking area. Thanks for a good time and welcoming atmosphere, which includes many of the folks we perceived as downtown«locals». We’d stop in here again for a couple drinks, live music and overall entertainment if in the area. A 3 star rating means it is A-OK, as noted, which I think is fair especially for a one time visit. If we stop by again and have a big time blast I could easily give it a 4 star rating(I’d give it 3.5 if I could). So many Unilocalers are either 1 or 5 star types, with very little in between. I try not to be that way and think a 3.5 is very fair.

Hey live music on a Saturday night, no cover charge, with plenty of seating upstairs looking down on the stage? Awesome! Walked down the street from the Shout House and discovered Tin Roof. The place wasn’t jammed packed for a Saturday night. I was pleasantly surprised by the live music. The guy singing and playing the guitar was great! There was also a woman that played the violin. She was very good! I didn’t grab any drinks because I was the DD, but my wife and friends seemed to enjoy what they ordered. We spent maybe 30 – 45 minutes then we ended up leaving. I definitely wouldn’t have minded to stay later to see who was playing next. Will have to stop by next time I’m down in downtown for sure!

For a bar located in Gas Lamp on a Saturday night, it sure wasn’t as packing as I expected. With so much competition every block you go, it’s not surprising that Tin Roof is less rowdy. They play LIVE music and as much as I love it, the songs aren’t really what you would like to listen to. By no means were the bands bad, it was just not my cup of tea if I wanted to party the night away in San Diego. There’s a good amount of dancing and bar space. Another corner provided games such as beer pong and adult jenga. Which imo is something everyone should play once in their life time while drunk :) By closer to 10ish-11ish, the people started going away. Place was pretty dead. However, the upside was by that time, getting into any bar after would cost you at least $ 5 cover and +10 min wait. Overall, Tin Roof was a great time and it’s a place worth checking out. Lastly, their beer offerings were nice as they had my favorite, Belching Beaver Peanut Butter Stout. One more please, bartender! Cheers to a good night.

This is one of my go to weekend spots. Why, you may ask? It is a chain after all and not considered the new«It» place. However I love it. The staff is usually very friendly and nice. They have bar games and live music. All for no cover!!!(if a special musical act or event is happening like NYE they do, but this rare.) Tin Roof attracts a lot of tourists, but some residents as well. Fun for a group of friends to dance and play. There is a patio for those who still haven’t figured out smoking is bad for you and has a shuffle board table for those who don’t mind the cloud. Inside there is a bar near the entrance and a main stage for the bands. There are tables and a dance floor to migrate between. The inside lower bar area has the beer pong and bar jenga, and is always a good time. There is an upstairs area that opens up sometimes as well. Thank you tin roof for being a fun spot we can go without paying you more to drink drinks we are already paying you for.

The Hunny Bee and I were just strolling around one night and something about this place just drew us in… SO glad that it did! Décor is funky and cool; chalkboards, twinkle lights, metal signs, something to look at from every angle. Menu looked fantastic with many unique items; basically bar food but with a twist, I’d say. Plenty of options; burgers, wraps, salads, wings, street tacos. I made a note of some that we’d like things that caught our eye: Crab Cake BLT, Fried Pickles, Chicken & Waffle Nuggets, Shrimp AND Carne Asada tacos(yes, both in one!)… there is also an every day Happy Hour Special plus Mon-Thursday bar specials as well. Do I recall a brunch menu? Gonna have to look into that one too… Live music was top notch! We ordered a few drinks and just chilled while listening to the duo on stage. They played covers of some decent music from many genres, plus took requests! It made for a feel-good-happy evening for us, very memorable. Browsing other Unilocal reviews and websites, it seems that this is the place to catch some local talent and loads of it! Kudos to you, Tin Roof! The crowd was laid back on this particular night… I’d say a happy buzz filled the air. There was a bridal party crowd and a table full of mid-30s couples hanging out and enjoying the music as well. We also noticed the big Jenga and other fun games scattered around the area. My sweetie had an ice cold beer(or 3) and I savored each drop of both of my well drinks. We didn’t have any food on this particular visit(we’d just eaten dinner), but the menu looked rather tempting, as I mentioned! Bartenders and servers went out of their way, it seemed, to please and make us happy. We definitely will be hittin’ this live music joint again soon! ================= Unilocal Check-In Offer: $ 5.00 off your order ================= CHEERS!!!

So much fun! We played beer pong, life size jenga, and danced our hearts out! Live music was amazing and really made the night. The drinks were cheap, the band was loud(in the good way) and the service was great! Highly recommend and will DEFINITELY go back!

Love this place. The couple times we’ve been here the music is great and when there’s not tunes playing there’s a live band. Cool little corner spot location and nice open layout when you walk in. The side of the bar also has games and jenga and it’s a cool spot if you’re with a crowd that all wants to do something different. Gets busy at night but not stupid busy like some other places around this area. Definitely worth checking out if you’re around the area.

We came here last night for my friends birthday. The bouncers, Evan in particular, was awesome and definitely the best bouncer we met all night. We ended up spending the rest of the night here. Also the bartenders were super nice and there was a fun game section. The band was amazing. The singer was so good and everything was so fun. Love this place!

Foods on point for a bar/venue. Had the blues burger, patty melt and the California burger(not all at once) and all pretty tasty. Patties cooked perfect, produce are fresh. Fries on the side are on crunchy! In the appetizer, tried the guac(pretty standard), tempura dills(pretty tasty) and the chicken-waffle nuggets(pretty interesting). Libations are good as well! Great selection of craft beers and their signature cocktails are pretty tasty and cool looking. Music is awesome here not just on acropolis records nights. Oh and cool fun things are those games! Giant Jenga is lots of fun and beer pong never gets tiring. Check the spot out next time you’re in San Diego gas lamp district.

Pretty cool spot in Gaslamp Quarters. Big venue with an upstairs portion inside. Two full bars staffed with some very down to earth bartenders. The drinks were mixed appropriately, not too strong and not too weak. Very helpful staff. They don’t give you the«this is my job, so I’m pretending to like you» kind of feeling. Our waitress was pretty up front with everything and she was sweet. There’s a big patio area right up front where you can take your drinks, smoke a cigarette and take in the San Diego nightlife. There’s a lower level where you can play pool and Jenga. You can also sign your name on the posts be bar which was a pretty cool thing to give patrons something to do while getting wasted. Since I already had dinner, I didn’t order food but my friends did. Everything was satisfying, I just wish I could’ve snapped a photo of his meal, shucks! Overall, great place for drinks, food and dancing. Check them out if you ever find yourself in the Gaslamp Quarters.
