I have always had a great experience here, the employees have a lot of passion for what they have to offer and know what to suggest for your distinct liking. I usually frequent on Fridays or Saturdays and love the vibe here when its busy. Drinks, food and friendly service, on POINT!

My Friends and I had such a great experience here Saturday night! We had a party of 20 and they took care of us without a hitch! Must try the house ground sausages and cheese boards, the burgers are out of this world! We did notice a table threatening to leave without paying (trashy), even after they ate and drank everything in front of them, but the employees handled it with such grace and dignity, makes it worth referring to my friends and family, we will be back!

Ambiance is nice, ordered some drinks and the cheese plate. Solid portions on the plate though, not mind blowing. The most shocking part was the abysmal service. I was with a friend and my girlfriend on a Saturday night and was shocked to hear that they only had one server for the entire establishment… on a Saturday night. After ordering then waiting over 20 minutes for waters to arrive, drinks finally arrived almost a half an hour later. Another 30 minutes for a cheese plate to arrive. We were polite and asked for a manger several times. The server told us there was no manager in the restaurant, but that she would get the head bartender. After enough time passed we asked again 2 more times. The bartender finally showed up and said «you had a question». I said, no we had a complaint and wanted to let you know we are not happy with the service and how it had taken 30 minutes to get our drinks. He said «we’re busy, what do you expect». I replied that I expected more than one server for the prices they were charging and that we had asked for a manager several times. He said no we hadn’t and said that he wasn’t interested in hearing about our issues and returned to the bar. If you want to waste your time, money and patience, frequent this place.

Terrible service. Arrived at 8:30pm on Saturday June 11, 2016. More than 20 minutes for waters to arrive. Drinks shortly thereafter. Another 30 minutes for a cheese plate to arrive. We asked for the manager 3 times. He finally arrives, and after letting him know that we were frustrated that it took 3 tries to finally speak with him, he informs us that we did not ask 3 times. He rudely tells us that it’s a busy Saturday night so that’s how it goes, then walks away! Very disappointed!

I actually recommended this place to my girlfriends and I’m sorry I did because the service is atrocious. The bartenders act as though they have a Ph.D. in bartending just because they have memorized the extensive whiskey list.
As someone who has worked in the service industry (and is from the Midwest), I know the importance of customer service and treating customers well. San Diego makes me feel disappointed in America because of its proof that customer service is sorely lacking in this country.
The customer is always right! News flash: rolling your eyes and making customers feel sub par by the scowl on your miserable faces is not good customer service. Your bar backs have better tact than you do.
Shouldn’t have tipped them and when I wrote them a note stating «customer service goes a long way» he shouldn’t have tapped me for clarification especially since he placed the drinks well out of arms’ reach and not directly in front of me.
Sorry that life didn’t work out the way you had wanted it to. Not my problem. Learn customer service skills.
Drinks are great. Bartenders are not.
Will be going to Aero Club where arrogance isn’t an issue.

First, I LOVE THIS PLACE!
So, I don’t eat burgers but my friends influenced me to cave… and it was by far one of the best burgers I have ever had… and omg… the fries, just kill me now!

This place had a really nice atmosphere, super cute décor & an extensive list of drinks. Which may be the only good thing about this place. After reading everyone else’s reviews I had high expectations that this place would be amazing. & sadly my fellow Unilocalers have let me down. Maybe we just caught them on a bad night? Regardless, I won’t be returning if I’m ever back in town nor would I recommend this place to anyone.
However, our service was terrible. I asked for no onions & no sauces on my chicken sandwich. & after waiting well over an hour, it came with all the sauces & extra onions. & it was semi-​warm but the fries were COLD… after waiting an hour plus I’d think my food should be HOT when I receive it. I asked how long it would be to get another sandwich, & was advised it would take MAYBE 30 minutes. So i declined the food all together. My friend had ordered a soup & still hadn’t received it once everyone’s food had arrived, when we asked the waitress about the soup she said she forgot, went to check the kitchen. After reminding her three times, & 15 minutes later she said the KITCHEN never told HER that they were out of soup…
We were charged a mandatory gratuity for sitting next to a large party of people we didn’t even know. Simply because we were making conversation with them. Said large party, had people who broke glasses & skipped out on their bills & the waitress tried to charge us for their mishaps. It took 20 minutes to get our checks, at which time she had combined my bill with another girls after we stated in the beginning that everything was separate. When we were leaving, she chased us down & GRABBED MY SHOULDER before I could walk out the door when I wouldn’t answer her, asking «Which one of you is Jean? She needs to pay her bill!!» .Jean was not with our group. When I told her this she huffed, rolled her eyes, & turned to walk away without saying anything else.

Stopped here for a round of drinks on a Sunday afternoon. It was quiet and not very crowded. Would like to see it on a Friday or Saturday night.
The specialty drinks were Yummy. We will be back.

I liked my expirince there, although the service was slow. On a Friday night there should be plenty of help with that. My wife and I were told that since our card was open to a server we could not place an order at the bar, that kinda rubbed me the wrong way, especially when I’m paying 15 for a drink. The ambiance is eligant and choice, but the service needs improvement. The selection of whiskey had me in aww.

Best whiskey bar for sure. Prices are average for anywhere else in Gaslamp and the selection is great. I’ll be here several more times. Only issue was I got a flight and the waitress didn’t tell me which ones were which.

Love this place. Fantastic happy hour. Unparalleled whiskey selection. Great drinks. Service is a little slow but you shouldn’t be here if you’re in a hurry to be somewhere.

This place has everything for everyone.
Walked in on a Tuesday evening around 6 pm. Greeted warmly by both bartenders.
Immediately noticed the extensive selection of alcohol on the walls, from floor to ceiling in glass cases. Lovely chandeliers are hung and the décor is modern with some nice booths to sit, chairs at the bar and comfy couches with pillows to relax.
I ordered their original old fashioned and well as my friend. I then had the New York cocktail. My taste buds screamed for joy! Fresh and tasty. We also ordered some french fries and mac n cheese. All were yummy.
The service is great here. The waiter was extrememly attentive and did not let us have an empty glass. Music is great, wide variety.
I love the intimate setting which is great for a night out with friends, meeting with colleagues for happy hour, or a night out with your hunny.
Their selection of drink concoctions is impressive. You literally cannot go wrong. No matter who is in your party, there will be something for them. The presentation of the drinks shows you the delicacy and care to which each one is made.
A little pricey but you are in Downtown, so expect it.
Take advantage of their awesome happy hour 4 – 7.
We actually bar hopped and ended back here at 1 am. I proceeded to have the wild frenchy cocktail which was DELISH!
Bathrooms are clean and well stocked.
Parking is conveniently out front and around the side. There is also parking in back at a 2r hour parking lot for $ 10.

Outstanding collection of Whiskey, Bourbon and Scotch. They had all of my favorites which is saying something because no one ever does. Additionally I enjoy whiskey cocktails and they had a delicious list. Thoroughly impressed. To top it off they had amazing music on all night, so I’ll be going back.

Coolest bar ever. A whiskey lovers heaven. Sitting on comfy couches with soft blankets surrounded by rich delicious whiskey.
Came during happy hour. Tried all their drinks. I liked the al capone the best. Tasted the flavor of the whiskey and just enough sweetness.
The scotch egg is good. Didn’t try any other foods. But I will be back I assure you may. I love this place! Open one in L.A. please!!!

Gaslamp is always expanding and the Whiskey house is such a great addition! It’s a little off the beaten path, a block or so behind Flux and all the clubs.
We arrived in a mob of 20 or so people since we were celebrating a friend’s birthday. We all were able to sit together at large tall tables facing the bar and the severs were very prompt and cordial.
I had my usual Sidecar which they made perfectly, not too sweet and pleasantly smoky. I’m not sure what my friends ordered but besides their list of unique cocktails, that have a large book full of hundreds of different whiskers and bourbons to chose from.

Please try the bark bark Berrie drink. It’s the best mixed drink ever. Just the smell will have you hooked and 3 drinks later you will thank me

But the service really didn’t do it for me and really left me with a bad taste in my mouth.
I came in on a weeknight with 3 friends for a few drinks and apps. When we walked in, there was only 1 other couple seated at the bar. We decided to grab seats there as well.
It took several minutes for the bartender to even acknowledge us, let alone greet us. Again, there were only 2 other guests in the entire place.
We asked him for a few suggestions to which he said – «Do you even like whiskey?» What??? Fairly rude, wasn’t it? He then told us that it depends on what we like to drink and wouldn’t elaborate. At this point, I was getting increasingly annoyed and settled on a Mackenna while my friends ordered a variety of other cocktails. We also ordered a cheese/​charcuterie plate to snack on.
Once our drinks were served and our cheese/​charcuterie was delivered, the bartender disappeared. Over the next 45 min, we were not once checked in on or asked if we wanted another round. When we finally flagged someone down for the check, it took another 20 min for the card to be run and returned.
Truthfully the drinks were great and the cheese/​charcuterie was fine. But the lack of service is the sole reason why I won’t be back. Which is really too bad because this gal loves her bourbon.

I rarely write reviews but this place was worth it. Hey have a huge whiskey selection and provide tastings as well. The food is great — try the lamb sausage! And the vibe is fantastic. I love places that have great seating, music and drinks! Can’t wait to come back.
Service could be faster (they don’t have a lot of people working there) but the guys bartending are fun and educated.

This is definitely a place to go with a small group of friends or a date night. However, between a group of 12 people, the staff seemed annoyed and none of the tables were very comfortable. There are 4 areas to sit — at the bar, at the couches (good for date night) at one of the booths (max capacity 6 people), or at one of the large tabletops. Since there was a large group, we sat at one of the large tabletops, but it was so big, that it was hard to hold a conversation across the table.
The drink menu is definitely one of the more unique menus I’ve seen in San Diego. I definitely recommend coming here if you want to try one of their concoctions. Whiskey House also has a small beer and wine list, if you’re not feeling adventurous (me) and a gigantic hard alcohol list if you’re looking for a specific brand of alcohol (Issac). Between my beer and Issac’s tequila, I spent just under $ 20. It’s a good thing that we ate dinner beforehand as a lot of the food menu seemed really pricey.
Overall, Cam and I are not a big fans of hard alcohol, so this isn’t really someplace I would want to take him, but it’s definitely worth a try if you do like hard alcohol and are in the area.

Super cool spot! Came here for a friend’s birthday. She loves whiskey, and this was the perfect place! They have the BIGGEST whiskey selection I have ever seen. They also serve specialty cocktails, beer and food. I ordered a specialty cocktail called Mata Hari. It was super yummy. The chai, pomegranate, cognac all went together. So refreshing. We also grubbed on some fries and a bratwurst, which was satisfying. Nothing to fancy but that’s ok.
The whole look and vibe of whiskey house was cool. The back wall has the word WHISKEY on it. The letters light up. Also in the back area, the seating is set up like you were in someone’s living room. Super chill. rhwy also have booths along the side and they have a spacious bar area.
