Excellent service! Mediocre food is what I just ate for breakfast this morning. Got the townhouse special and the only thing about the food that was just right was how the eggs were cooked exactly medium. Bacon overcooked as was the french toast which was consequently fairly hard and dry.

Get here early to avoid the lines. Food is basic, nothing too fancy. Nice servers and cold mimosas!

Breakfast burrito was really good and served quickly. The Bloody Mary came with bacon and was awesome. All waitresses you’re so sweet.

Best place to get some fast cheap breakfast. The waitresses are awesome and fast and you don’t ever have to worry about an empty coffee cup. No «farm to table» options but if you ask nicely(and get the right waitress) they can make you a veggie egg white SCRAMBLE. DELICIOUS! I love it with Feta. Also ask for the salsa… it’s great!

Go there! The food was amazing. We had breakfast, the Mexi and the biscuits and gravy with mimosas and it was the best thing we ate in San Diego. Plus, it’s a local favorite so you know that means it’s good. Also, our server was fantastic. She gave us really cool recommendations of places to visit that we loved and was so nice! I would go there every day if I could.

BACKATIT! Once again my family and I had an amazing time. We love this place. Came out for Mothers day. Coming in, we knew it was going to be busy. We waited for a few minutes which was not a problem. The bus boy Alfonso works fast to get the tables turned. I have to give that man credit he is on the go. Which brings me to our server Brooke she is amazing. No matter how busy it was she made sure my family and I were taken care of. By far the BEST waitress. I still don’t knw how people give them anything lower than 5 stars. If you ask me maybe if they didn’t come in with a bad attitude things would be different for them.

Nicer version of a greasy spoon. Get there early, it’s FCFS seating. They have Stella on tap — perfect with eggs and some French toast. Coffee is non offensive.

Food: A charred flapjack that lost it’s warmth 10 minutes before it arrived. The biscuits tasted as lifeless as a store brand but the creamy sausage gravy saved the dish. My date appreciated the cook giving him an extra over easy egg since one of the yolks broke, sopping his warm plate. Drinks: Pitch perfect mimosas for its price, a nifty $ 4.50. Coffee that would be acceptable if on a camping trip. Service: Not stellar but not bad either, like an obligated friend. Ambience: A charming, greasy spoon diner complete with cool blue vinyl booths, and hipster waitresses.

I am so sad. Justice and I went here for breakfast and we were so excited. it was super busy and that’s completely understandable. good for business. However, food ordering and arriving in the process that it did was completely off! Justice and I were sat after a 5 min wait and we ordered food. our meal was pretty simple: veggie sandwich and fish n chips. then a group of 6 people came in about 20 mins after us and sat down right away and ordered. about 10 minutes later their food arrived. these people ordered steaks and all sorts of meals that require some time to cook. the server looked at us and told us our food would be out in like a couple of minutes and she looked panicked. about 10 minutes later our food arrives. the server messes up my order and fries were kinda cold. the food here is so good but just that whole thing messed the experience and joy for me. I don’t understand how a steak and the works cook faster than a veggie sandwich or fish n chips. might take a break from this place for a while and switch to fig tree or to the point eatery. 2 stars bc their food is still good.

This place is SO good!!! Just found this amazing breakfast spot! I am from Louisiana and I have been disappointed in all the biscuits and gravy around town… but this place is the best! Reminds me of home. The gravy is so piping hot, fresh, and flavorful and the biscuit to gravy ratio is perfect:(biscuits are not too big, and gravy is plentiful) I ordered their chicken fried steak which was a nice size portion and it was crispy even after being coated with gravy. Yum! It came with 3eggs and hash browns. The wait staff are super attentive; always topping off your delicious cup of coffee. Also ordered their French toast which was delicious as well! Good was very quick to come out! There is a bit of a wait on the weekend, probably because this is one of the best breakfast gems in town. FYI: Singles sit at the bar on weekends. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for diner style home cooked breakfast at a good price!

Your typical diner food in a classic setting. Very friendly service! Food was pretty good, but it’s what you’d expect from this sort of place. Veggie Benedict had a gorgeous sliced avocado — loved it!

Went here with my friend earlier this year. Very spot on diner, true in the definition of what a diner is. Quick, fast service. Courteous. Good, solid breakfast food. What else do you want? If you want fancy-schmancy fake talk, ridiculous cocktail menu, longer waits, go to Searsucker or a place in La Jolla. And bring your bills with you then. This place is unpretentious, solid, hits the spot. Please take note, customers who feel that they are entitled(i.e. Recent crazy review). Ted and Kathy are perfect business owners and operators, proof after having their establishment for over 40 years.

Wow these people just have the worse customer service, please read how defensive they have become due to their poor customer service, including going racial only due to my spelling, wow, but your little restaurant is far far away from what my business does, money wise and wait times… It’s a shame that instead of taking bad input and making it better they only made it worse with their replie’s. Please read my first review and reponce from these people… P.D. Lady I was born in the Country of Texas, thats rite I said the COUNTRY of Texas, Proud American Raised in San Diego

We were lazy and didn’t get up early, so we had a bit of a wait when we were trying this place. This is why we love Unilocal so much, it helps us find all the great local spots and this one was a great breakfast spot. Patrons were friendly, portions were ample. We shared biscuits and gravy, the breakfast burrito, and the #3(two eggs with meat, hashbrowns, and toast). Everything was hot, fresh, and fast. We really liked the feel of the place and will definitely be back the next time we visit San Diego.

Breakfast diners are my favorite things in the world !!! This place was great and the food was delicious. I could go for a giant plate of their hash browns right now: P We went early on a Sunday morning and didn’t have a problem finding a seat. By the time we left there were people waiting outside, so go early… it’s worth it: D
