Yes!!! Finally someone in San Diego that can cut/​style short hair for WOMEN and not charge up the butt! Thank you Sara for giving me what I’ve been looking for since my stylist up and moved to Austin, TX… Definitely recommending to everyone… I’ll be you walking billboard any day!

As I walked up to have my hair done moments before Sarah was notified that one of her long time customers who she held dear to hear heart passed away in a motorcycle wreck. Since I met Sarah back in 2011 I instantly fell in love with not only her art style of hair but also Sarah as a person. I am very thankful to be able to call you a great friend of mine. And at the same time the best damn hair dresser in San Diego. The passion you have is what makes you so successful in not only life but in your career. Thanks Sarah for always making me look great.

Sarah. That’s all. First time I’ve ever had someone to whom I can say, «Just do whatever you think is best.» It took us a year or so to get to that point, but now she knows me. I don’t have to make any decisions – I can leave it up to the pro. Compliments abound after every cut. Will miss her immeasurably when I’m no longer in San Diego.

I’ve been with Sara since moving down to San Diego. The woman is a beast. She is skilled, professional and such a sweetheart. It is always a delight to visit her and Jess’ shop which is clean and cozy. I appreciate that Sara will allow a conversation about a desired cut while providing her expertise. Jess is gem. Ive been a customer for the past two years and she has always done an amazing and fabulous job. We’ve gotten my hair at the length I’ve wanted and have played around with different styles. Tapered and Tails is a fun place to visit and the appointment system is very convenient.

Trying to find a hairdresser in a new city is always daunting, but I feel like I have hit the jackpot with Tapered and Tails! Jessica and Sarah are as talented as they are sweet! I love my new hair! The cut and color is spot on. The salon has a fun and quirky edge and is conveniently located. I would not hesitate recommending them. Thanks girls!

Went to Jessica for the first time, and I’m so happy with the result! I gave her basic description of what I was hoping for, and right away she had example pictures to confirm we were picturing the same cut. We were. She set to work, chopped up my hair and I was totally pleased. She then went above and beyond, styling it up with some loose curls and teaching me how to recreate the look if I want to. So sweet of her, definitely not something I expected. She not only knows what she’s doing, but clearly loves doing it. Make an appointment, you will be glad you did!

I’ve been going to Sarah for several years when she was located in Hillcrest. Really happy for and proud of her for starting her own business! Honestly, I would have followed her to Oceanside if she’d moved up there, but the convenience of her new location is awesome. Very easy to access. And I love the boutique she and Jessica have set up. It’s cozy and inviting.
Sarah is awesome at what she does. I’m an early-​30s guy coping with male pattern baldness in a city that loves its hair. She always makes me feel fresh and sharp-​looking. And she’s just a really good, honest person. Very highly recommend this fantastic new business and its rockstar stylists.

Followed Jessica from her old place and followed her to her new location because absolutely loooove coming to see her. She knows exactly what I want done to my hair and makes sure it’s how I want it. She’s absolutely a joy to talk to as well while she does my hair. The location has such an amazing view of the busy life of downtown as well and gets a bunch of natural sunlight (which made me fall more in love with my hair haha). Definitely coming back. :)
I also love their appointment system — super easy to navigate and convenient. You also get a bunch of reminders and the address of the place (cuz it’s difficult to find the first time around, but they do offer to find you and bring you to the salon, so they’re amazing).

I’ve been going to Sarah at Ralph’s Hair in Hillcrest for years. I was stoked to find out she started her own business. Just got my hair cut at her new location downtown and I’m impressed.
Besides the great haircut, I love the salon space. Of course Sarah’s personality makes getting a haircut more like hanging out with friends. She always cracks me up.
But the salon has its own unique personality and vibe. Offering coffee, and drinks is a nice touch!
I highly recommend making an appointment. You’ll get a great haircut and have fun while your at it!

I live around the corner from their new place and randomly picked up their card from the front desk. I had my appointment this morning and love what Jessica did to my hair! She is super talented and so sweet! Can’t wait to go back!

Jessica is my favorite hair dresser I’ve ever had. Insanely nice, down to earth, and has incredible ability with men and women’s hair. It’s to the point where I tell her to do what she likes without much direction because she always does such a good job. Everyone I’ve referred to her has been very pleased. She used to be my hair dresser at her last place of employment and she still is at her beautiful new shop. I go where she goes.
