Ok, hope the restuarant reads this review. 1.salad should not float in watery sauce. 2. MISO Soup needs to be hotter AND less salty. Seaweed already salty so dont add to much salt. 3.hire another waitress, wait is too long 4. It seems to me that the hot food are frozen and are heated in a microwave oven. Positve: Taste is ok to good. If you have someone to actually prepare and cook the food fresh then it would be great. I did not ordered the sushi therefore i have no comment.

Just stopped by and so disappointed– it appears that Sushi Mura has suddenly shut down. I hope that is not true — perhaps they are on holiday?

Amazing sushi! Very fresh and authentic Japanese sushi. I heard about this place from someone who was Japanese, I asked them were they like to have sushi and they had mentioned this place. My favorite is the hamachi jalapeño appetizer, huggy bear and lumberjack. There are so many good rolls to choose from I doubt you will be disappointed. Enough seating and a very cool location in liberty station. Staff is always attentive when I go and parking has never been an issue.

Great food great service. Think I just found my new favorite sushi place. Sit at the sushi bar, the service seems better there. Thanks for a great dinner, I’ll be back :)

Next time I come I’ll get the southern tataki(no jalapeño, seared albacore instead of the tuna, torch the roll after the spicy mayo and add the organic dill sauce). AMAZBALLZ!

My husband and I have eaten at a few different sushi places around town. We are not sushi snobs or anything but we will have a hard time going anywhere else now that we have been to Sushi Mura. All of the staff was very friendly and the food was fresh and delicious. We ordered a tuna carpaccio appetizer, the Basilicious roll and the Tuna Tatake roll(with soy paper). We both agreed that we were legitimately sad when we had finished our rolls but had no room in our bellies for more. Our bill ran us about $ 50, so not cheap but not expensive either. We will be back and cannot wait!

This was our first time here and it did not disappoint! From beginning to end the service was awesome. Our waitress Skylar was very knowledgeable and so friendly. The owner/chef Jin was so welcoming and personable. He took the time to come out to the table & introduce himself. The sushi was bomb! Clean presentation and delicious. We will be back. :) highly recommend!

Waited 15 minutes before we were asked what we wanted to drink. We ordered miso soup and beers while we waited for a to go order. Never got soup, waited about an hour for fried rice and 2 simple rolls. Overall poor customer service, not worth the wait!

The house was packed on Wednesday night but we were able to get a table right away and everything came out promptly and was as delicious as always. The salmon trio on the apps list has a really good dill sauce on top. It looks like guac but when you try it you’ll be blown away. The uni was exceptionally fresh. They say the grosser it looks the fresher it is. Well it was particularly tasty :-)

I love sushi and I was excited to find this place when I was leaving Stone Brewery one night. I came here on a Friday night and there was plenty of seating. My husband and I ordered miso soup, summer camp roll, and a bunch of nigiri as usual. The nigiri we ordered was horse mackerel, bluefin tuna, salmon, albacore, halibut, yellowtail, and amberjack. My favorites were surprisingly the albacore then salmon. The summer camp roll was pretty good and had scallop on the inside and salmon on top. The nigiri would’ve tasted much better if there wasn’t too much wasabi in it. I had to scrape some of it off. I’d come back just for the albacore and salmon nigiri.

I recently met a transplant from Japan who has lived in SD for a few years now and asked her what was her favorite sushi restaurant. She told me it was this place and then I immediately felt credibility because I’ve been trying to tell people about this place for years now! It’s a hidden gem in Liberty Station and is so worth it. They grind their own wasabi which is always good to see nowadays but so rare. Fish is absolutely amazingly fresh. Had Uni served in its shell and couldn’t believe how fresh it was. These guys must have some connections with the seafood distributors because everything is too notch. Perfect place if you want to take somebody to a quiet place for dinner. It’s not very big so I suggest making a reservation. An added bonus is that Stone Brewery is literally right next door for an after dinner drink or two. After all, let’s be honest… Stone isn’t exactly known for their food.

You don’t get what you pay for. The service isn’t good. The sushi is so-so. The miso soup is bland. I’d skip this place. The only reason I’m giving it 2 stars instead of 1 star is because the salmon nigiri tasted pretty good.

Came here and got the mini omakasei,(10 pieces of sushi) $ 30 it was decent, I liked most of the sushi, the hamachi belly, kampachi, aji, salmon, and another one which had a smokey charred taste to it. Though i don’t usually care for kohada, this one was pretty good, i don’t like when it taste too much like vinegar, this one was mild. My only major complaint was that the Ika was not edible, so chewy that i could not swallow it. Looking back at it, i could just order 5 orders of sushi(10 pieces) of fish that i wanted, and not get the items that i didn’t want(could have done with out the Tako, kohada and ika). Still it was nice to try a wider variety of sushi. Its a pretty small intimate place, and they have a nice variety of both traditional sushi and rolls, and lots of parking around the corner.

Went there for lunch. We were the only customers during the whole time. The waitress looks arrogant and would be better if she can offer some smile. Food is decent compared to what you can find in liberty station. I never notice such a loud airplane noise when I go to luna grill or tender green in liberty station… Not sure why. Minus one star… 2÷19÷15 I got a feedback from the owner intimidating me of why I wrote in my review that I was the only table and made them look bad. I was just reporting the truth… And I never said the food was bad. But after seeing that feedback now I have to reconsider if I want to go there again.

Having a boyfriend who loves sushi is sometimes a burden. Especially when he only likes good quality sushi. Good is very subjective. However, when you’ve gone to plenty of sushi restaurants and ordered their sashimi, its hard to not know what good sushi quality grade is. Good quality means the fish is fresh and cut well. Although we both enjoy good sushi, it is very expensive. But for us, we don’t mind if it is expensive since we are getting good sushi. We came to Sushi Mura hoping to have a good dinner meal with our friends. This was a place we’ve wanted to tried for quite sometime. We enjoy Ikiru, which is in the same plaza, and Sushi Ota. We were hoping for the same quality of freshness but we were disappointed. I guess having high expectations can be a let down. I made a reservation for 6 so we were seated instantly. However, our waitress wasn’t very attentive. She gave us our menu and did not come back to take our order until 20 min later. When she asked us what we would like to drink, she didn’t wait until we all ordered. Instead, she walked away and didn’t come back for quite some time. I am sorry you are under staffed. It isn’t our fault. My boyfriend ordered the combo sashimi where it had a variety of fishes. It was fresh, but it was not as fresh as Ikiru and Sushi Ota. He was a little disappointed considering we were hoping for good. I ordered a sushi roll and it was mediocre.

I’m sitting here really upset. I’m not bringing anymore people here or recommending this place anymore! 1 hour and others who came after us are fed and done. We made a reservation for 24 and they only have 1 server. Not good. +++ 1÷5÷15 Maybe I was a little hard on them, but this is the second time that we brought a large group and people around us were being served first… and I’m glad they were able to accommodate us with as many people as we had. They still have great food, but they really need to plan to handle a larger group, better.

Came for dinner on a Monday night and ordered the shoyu ramen($ 10), hurricane roll($ 13), and Tokusen Chirashi($ 20). Overall, the experience was disappointing. Our waitress seemed a bit annoyed, as if she didn’t want to be there at all. The food itself was average; the fish in the chirashi bowl didn’t seem fresh – one piece was so chewy it felt like gum. uh. Definitely was not worth $ 20. The hurricane roll was alright. Food also took a while to come out despite the restaurant being mostly empty. I do recommend the Shoyu ramen, however. Although it is on the smaller side for its price, the broth is very tasty and the noodles are cooked perfectly.

Sushi Mura was more on the 3.5 star side for me. The rolls were good, but weren’t mind-blowing. The Fiji roll was unique because of the orange they use with the roll. It added a nice contrast. I remember liking the Huggy Bear as well. The Rainbow Roll was not the best I’ve ever had– decent, but it didn’t stand out. The atmosphere is nice, but the restaurant is very small(about 6 tables and a counter with chairs)– the tables are pretty close together. The waitress was polite, but it took over a half hour to get our food. I usually don’t have a problem waiting that long, but given the restaurant was that small, and half the people there had already ordered before us, it just seems that it should have been a little quicker. Given there are many other sushi joints I need to try,(and ones I already love), I’m not sure I would go back.

20% OFFFOOD!!! with purchase of alcohol, Monday thru Thursday from 6:30pm to close! Extended happy hour? How much better can it get?! The boyfriend and I love sushi and this place always hits the spot. The sushi chefs are thhheeeee best entertainers, know exactly where all the fish are from, and don’t serve you the fish unless they are confident it’s fresh. Great service, great food, great atmosphere. You get what you pay for and more! The location might be a little hidden but that doesn’t stop a sushi lover from trying the best sushi spot in socal! You will not regret it! Their ramen and rolls are delicious, too! If you don’t like a specific fish, ask for it to be replace with something else and bam your perfect roll! Once you’re done, go for their green tea ice cream ;)

I stopped in Sushi Mura for a light dinner before a Unilocal Elite event down the street. When I arrived I was informed that it was happy hour and all the rolls and hot and cold appetizers where 20% off: a total Score! Fort and app, I ordered the tempura fried calamari which came nicely vertically piled on the plate with some chili sauce.( ) The calamari came golden brown and topped with a few julienned carrots.( ) The calamari inside was delicate and tender. The flavor profile was slightly sweet and quite good.( ) The only draw back is that they did not serve a lot of it. I ordered 2 rolls: a tempura shrimp roll with eel sauce,( ) and one of my vices, a salmon skin roll.( ) Both were 20% off. The salmon skin roll was very good. I liked the fact that they left plenty of salmon meat on the skin, but I thought the skin could of been more crispier.( ) The Tempura shrimp roll was equally as good. The shrimp was tender, yet the tempura retained its crunchy exterior which added depth to the roll.( ) Both rolls taste great with their house made soy sauce.( ) No Kikkoman here! The service was terrific. My server Mari was absolutely wonder. Per politeness was beyond compare. The atmosphere was very comfortable and the some was the furniture.( )
