Great service and our server was very friendly. We had cheerleaders greeting us at the door. They weren’t very friendly though lol. Everyone had a great time and the food was good as well. The only issue I would mention is to ask to have your food brought out as it is ready. Other than that it’s a good spot to eat and enjoy your friends or family time.

This is a great spot. The location sits on Liberty Station and was converted from an old Naval Barracks. I have been to this Stone location over a dozen times. There is nothing else out there quite like it. Pros: –Great Atmosphere, layout is open and welcoming. One of the best indoor/outdoor bar combos I have been to. –Good beer. Headache inducing if you don’t hydrate or have something to eat Cons: –Sometimes we have waited quite awhile for the server to show up –No happy hour to speak of –Food isn’t that great and kind of expensive –Beer is pricey

You expect a certain high level of food and atmosphere quality at Stone Brewery. With prices in the high $ 20s per plate, plus drinks and apps, you know you’re going to pay $ 80 per couple if you dine here… But, Monday January 25, at 7pm, the experience was AWFUL. First, they tried to seat our small table of three adults, all in their low 30s next to a HUGE table full of small children. Four adults with eight kids at one long table… WHOBRINGSTODDLERS and YOUNGKIDS to a Brewery for dinner? We asked to be reseated in a quieter area. We wanted to chat, drink, socialize not hangout with the daycare kids. The Food? Ever had their brussel sprouts? Melt in your mouth pancetta flavor, oil, greens, a heavenly concoction that makes me eat my vegetables every time! Except, for Monday January 25, at 7pm. On this brisk San Diego night, the brussel sprout magic left the building. We were served hard, crunchy, bland ugly plate, with NOPANCETTA, like, four little cubes for a healthy portion of sprouts. WTF? So, when the waitress came to check on us, she asked how everything was, and we asked for more pancetta, explaining the mediocre quality cook and lack of quality ingredients in this particular dish. She brought a little cup full, and we tried to chomp through the sprouts with the delicious pancetta doing its best. The bill? HAHAHA…We were comp’d the brussel sprouts but DIDPAYFOR«EXTRAPANCETTA» HAHAHA… How bout serving the reasonable quantity of pancetta the first time and not tacking on an «extra» on my bill., Stone, I’m truly disappointed. I’m in love with your A Game, You rock date night so hard when you get it right, but I guess you were tired, or had a bad night.

I love the ambiance of this location and our group really enjoyed sitting on the back patio non such a beautiful day. Sadly, no one enjoyed their food. I ordered the lamb rigatoni and it was so soooo oily. It was hard to eat. You could see the grease piling up at the bottom of my bowl and my stomach was upset the entire rest of the day. I also ordered the chocolate brownie sundae… it looked amazing but the brownie was really hard. Crunched and almost turned to dust when chewed as if it was pretty old. Another person in the group ordered the chocolate tart and Crème brûlée and they seemed to enjoy those. Although our server was nice, he really wasn’t attentive. Our drinks never got refilled and we had to stop another employee to ask him to find our sever so we could get our check. The ambiance and company was great, everything else was quite the disappointment I won’t eat there next time if friends wanna go back, I’ll just stick to beer

Marvelous and grandiose setting in a renovated and historic Naval Training Center. It is cool! Stone occupies over 23,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor dining and bars with umbrellas and water features, a bocce ball court, outdoor cinema space and lush garden. Come and park yourself with some friends or family. Kick back in the winter sunshine or shade and see how many of the 40 craft brews on tap, including many guest taps, you can taste. Be sure to eat up the grub. I know Stone has its own farm and is conscientious to use quality ingredients in all recipes on the menu. Some items may be organic. They buy form the local farmers when possible. With friends we ordered appetizers, sandwiches, entrees and desserts – too many to list. Unlike some other Unilocaler reviews, I say the price is right for the quality served. It is not cheap because it is not industrial big food chain. But not too expensive! See my food pics. Stone has come a long way from when we first starting in the little warehouse brew tasting site in the mid 90’s to a large scale brewing facility, huge dining and brew pub in Escondido, which we have indulged in the food, beer and park-like atmosphere – oh, 25 – 30 times I suppose. Now, Liberty Station rocks! I mean you will find large boulders and granite all throughput the eating and drinking spaces to park your rump on. Stone hit the big time in brewing distribution, always help the little brewers. And they are eco-earth friendly in processing to make beer, enjoy food and have fun at it. You will be pleased to

Come here for the atmosphere and beer. The food is pretty overpriced but sitting outside at night is gorgeous. I recommend it just specifically for the location. My waiter last time know nothing about beer though… She recommended a beer that wasn’t even Stone! Strange…

Stone Brewing at Liberty Station is absolutely stunning. The décor and the outdoor area have a real personality and ambiance. The only real problem of sitting outside is that they are right in the path of airplanes headed to the airport, so there may be some loud moments. Food is rotating and always delicious, but a bit pricy for the portion sizes. Even if you’re not a fan of Stone’s signature«hop bomb» beers, they also have a rotating tap list of other local and unique breweries. This is definitely the place the impress out-of-towners, for people who consider themselves«foodies», and fans of amazing beer. It’s a win for everyone!

Stone beer amazing as always but the food is overpriced and was pretty bad. 20 dollars for a plate of sausage that was incredibly spicy and had no flavor, noodles that were slimy and seemed out of a can, and a huuuuge serving of whipped ricotta. The last of which I thought might be enough to tame the heat but just left my stomach feeling upset and without the heart to finish. I also though that since Stone is brewed right here in San Diego and we were at one of their few locations that there would be at least a little price break on beer but no. I was not expecting half off but every price left me thinking«huh that is a bit expensive for that.» Unfortunately, with all of the amazing«food and a drink» type options in San Diego(One of which neighbors this very establishment) you are better off grabbing a Stone IPA somewhere else.

It would be a great place if it weren’t located at the end of a runway of a major airport… every few minutes you are subjected to the screams of a 737 taking off overhead. I’d actually love a spot to watch planes landing, but here you only see their bellies as they climb upwards. Not exactly a relaxing place to enjoy a beer or special event — especially at these prices.

One of my closest girlfriends LOVES Stone. She also says the Mexican food in San Diego is better than the Mexican food in San Francisco. Hmmm … FIGHT! She also thinks the Mexican food in San Francisco is «not that good.» … FIGHT! That’s one discerning bitch. So you can understand why I trust her implicitly with restaurant recommendations. We woke up with a hangover the size of Texas from my company’s holiday party the night before. In my wisdom, I decided we would need a beer to make us feel better. That was not my smartest thinking. We took an Über to Stone, which might be the raddest location ever. Too bad it was 50 degrees in San Diego(irony), or we would have enjoyed their lovely, lovely, lovely patio. Like a big dummy, I only brought flip flops with me to San Diego because I thought it would be hot. It rained! I was freezing my arse off. I ordered the Gose beer, because I likes it sour. My boyfriend ordered the holiday milk stout. Both were delicious and served in cool glass wear. We started with the ahi tuna tacos, served in a hard shell(I’ve noticed the San Diegans like a hard shell). I loved them. They are served atop an avocado mash, which could have used a pinch of salt, but was still delicious. They were topped with wakame salad, which is one of my favorite things ever. Then we moved on to the lamb meatball appetizer. I thought they were delicious, served with pita, tzaziki, and cucumber. The flavors were spot on. My boyfriend thought the meat was a little overcooked. I’m not a huge fan of lamb, so I was actually okay with that. For my entrée, I ordered the scallops special to keep it Paleo(sort of), and they were a great choice! I thought they were perfectly cooked and so flavorful. My boyfriend ordered the wild boar and pulled pork sandwich, which was SO good. It had a sweet jerk flavor, and this lovely low heat that doesn’t hit you until after you’ve swallowed the bite you’ve taken. The bun was super soft and worked nicely the texture of the meat. The only thing that wasn’t wonderful was the warm spiced cake we ordered for dessert. It showed up to the table cold, which was a bummer. The cake itself wasn’t very sweet, so a nice warm cake would have paired well with the sweet ice cream and berry compote it was served with. We ate it anyway, of course. It’s easy to overlook an average dessert when the rest of the meal kicks ass, which it did. Stone does not have French fries. That’s something you might want to keep in mind if you have a Texas-sized hangover. I also wanted to try the cheese soup, which my buddy raves about continually, but they didn’t have it. The service is solid, the ambiance is excellent, the beer is great, and the food is surprisingly good. Overall, a great experience. I only wish it had been warmer so I could have enjoyed their lovely patio.

Can’t really complain about Stone Brewery and this location is a pretty cool spot complete with tons of seating and a bunch of great beer options. This particular location is not quite as big as the Escondido Stone but has a significant amount of character in the décor. The food and drinks here are pretty much the same but I did find it a bit easier to rent out portions for group events, which they host well. Overall, not a bad spot to grab a bite and a beer or two, or perhaps three… Pros– Beer selection Outdoor Character Ambiance Service Cons– Crowded Certain beers not for everyone Food could use some improvement

Like the sun and surf, beer has become a symbol of San Diego. Stone Brewing has a lot to do with creating our now internationally recognized beer culture. While I don’t always love their beer, I am thankful to Stone for always stepping up to the big guys, and helping to pave the way for the 100+ breweries in San Diego. This Stone location in Liberty Station is a lot more convenient, and less busy, than their mothership up north, so I tend to stick to this one. I like to come here when I have friends/co-workers in from out-of-town that want to see the Stone Empire. While they don’t do tours here, this location is still pretty impressive. The food here is good, but on the pricey side. The draft list is usually good, and the bottle list is excellent. What usually brings me in though, are the special events. Stone hosts a variety of events throughout the year, and they are usually reasonably priced and very impressive. Their Belgian Fest was one of my favorite beer events of all time. They don’t do a lot of advertising for these occasions, so I suggest joining their e-mail list. San Diego would not be the same without Stone, and I’m happy to drink beer in support of them. Cheers.

First time visiting this brewery/restaurant. Pretty large location with both outdoor and indoor seating. It can get pretty crowded here during peak times. Food menu looked pretty good, but pricey. We opted for some beers and a couple apps, which ended up to be perfect. We ordered the sausage platter and Brussels sprouts. Both were outstanding! Perfect match with the Go-To IPA! If you’re in the area, check this place out! The beers and food will not disappoint.

This is a great brewery. The interior architecture simulates quonset hut construction with gracefully arched roof timbers. There are clever reminders of the name of this brewery, not limited to the stone faux walls on one side, and a stone fountain near the entrance. The bar is central to the main dining room, fittingly. There is also a nice patio area for evenings or cooler days. Surprisingly, the restrooms(at least on the men’s side) were very artfully decorated with a unique tilted stone sink and other stone décor within. Guys, give it a try, although I doubt you will need my encouragement, given the primary product dispensed here. Speaking of which, the collection of draft beers offered is astounding, including beers from other brewers and other countries. I ordered a flight of four, picking from the über-extensive beer menu, and noted that each small glass cost only $ 2 or $ 3. What a great way to sample beers! I ended up craving more of the Stone Pale Ale and ordered a full glass, enjoying every drop. I tried the Housemade Hummus plate($ 10), which included coarsely ground hummus, designer crackers, sliced cucumber, raw carrots and broccoli. The hummus was plentiful and quite excellent. The Charred Brussels Sprouts($ 8) were true to their name, and were delicious, with small tidbits of bacon sprinkled among them. The serving was very generous. Each could be shared by two or more. The place was jumpin’, the piped-in music was quite interesting, and the table service was very good. I look forward to visiting again.

The atmosphere was really nice and the beer was solid. However, the food was pretty subpar, disappointing, and overpriced. Beer: I had the Mocha IPA and Hefe. Both beers were great and highly recommended. The Mocha IPA in particular was really amazing and had a distinct, delicious coffee taste: 4⁄5 Food: I personally ordered the jambalaya and my friend ordered the salmon-avocado salad. First, the jambalaya: it was not very good at all. Given its price point, I would have expected something a bit more… refined. They advertise it as having a bit of a kick, but I experienced no such kick and found it to be just overly… salty. I would have appreciated a bit of acid(lemon maybe on the side for the crawfish?). Next, the salad: my friends seemed extremely disappointed with the salad. Looking at it, it was somewhat aesthetically pleasing, but not enjoyable taste wise. Neither are highly recommended, but maybe the jambalaya was an off day because the internet seems to think somewhat highly of it. 2⁄5

So very cool! I was invited to this spot by friends for a movie night — it is first come, first served so it was too packed to watch the free movie so we sat inside and noshed. The interior is really cool looking, they had both and outside and inside bar to sit at in addition to regular tables. We ordered some snacks: Pretzels — B– Pretty good, I have had better. The dipping sauces were pretty good. Sausage Plate — A– Really good — we ate these fairly quickly. Korean Baby Back Ribs — Not really a rib fan, but I took a bite; flavorful with a sauce that wasn’t overpowering. Hummus — I dont like hummus — but my friends ate this up and raved about it. Crème Brulee — Heaven in a spoon — So. Very. Good. The only downside to this spot is the airplanes flying over — no ones fault obv — but its a really cool spot, I will go again!

what an amazingly beautiful brewery! We have been to quite a few different breweries in California and this is by far the most aesthetically pleasing. It is located in liberty station, which is an old historical military base, so the architecture is cool to begin with, but DAMN! Tables with streams flowing under the glass, beautiful stone waterfalls, lots of greenery, and koi ponds make this brewery the most relaxing and peaceful that you could find. We sat outside, although the indoor areas are just as gorgeous and sat at a hightop near the bar where we tried a few flights.(8 $) the beers were good, my favorite was the chestnut nut brown ale. Our server was very nice. We decided against food this time, but will definitely be back sometime soon to try some of their interesting sounding options. Review for food will follow :)

I’m beginning to warm up to this Stone Brewing location. I went there a few times when they first opened and was pretty unimpressed(bad service, poor value, unremarkable food), but after my last two visits I am definitely becoming a fan. I have always been drawn to the look of this place. The design, like the location up North, is beautiful. There are many individual rooms, with different feels to them, plus a beautiful patio out back. The separate rooms help to make the place feel more intimate, even though it is truly a giant. I don’t think anyone can complain about the ambiance here. The food was where I used to take issue. We brought a large group of out-of-towners here a few years ago and the meal was most unimpressive. What I really didn’t like was the over-priced, small-portioned appetizers on the old menu. A beer-centric restaurant really should have a good list of appetizers to go with their beverages. On my latest visit, I was happy to see a better representation of shareable apps. We really enjoyed the yellowfin poke tacos, and the scallop and prawn ceviche. The mains were also much better on this visit. Nobody can ague with the beer list at Stone. Though I am actually not a big fan of their standard beers, their list of seasonal offerings is impressive. What is more impressive is the beers that they are able to bring in from other breweries. The name Stone pulls a lot of weight in the beer world, and they are able to get beers that other bars can’t. Their bottle list is a well constructed novella. What I love the most about Stone is that they are the only place in San Diego that is working to be an experience instead of just another bar/restaurant. They have outdoor movie nights, bocce ball, and top-notch beer festivals. I am a huge fan of the McMenamins concept in Oregon, and I would like to see more things like that here in California. I think it took them a few years to get going, but I’m happy to report that this location has really come into its own.
