Have been here twice. Seriously disappointed with the food. Tried mini thali — dal was lightly sweet; curry was bordering on terrible and rotis were no good. I have also tried pav bhaji and shaak(veg curry)/paratha combo. Too spicy, not much taste. Couple dosas my daughter has tried weren’t impressive. I would go to Bawarchi across the strip mall any day or even Chennai Tiffins. I might go one more time to try chaat to see if that’s any better, otherwise unlikely to go for real food.

Seeing all the reviews, I tried Delhi chat! It’s not that good. Average. To make something spicy you should mention while ordering. Otherwise it’s going to be sweet.

Awesome and refreshing meal! This place is hidden away among the various business, just a block away from busy Miramar rd. One among the many Indian markets and restaurants in this little strip mall area. Parking is a little tough during busy hours, but there is plenty if you are willing to walk. The line is never too long and once you reach the counter you just give your order and pay, and they will call your order once it is ready. The place is nice and clean and actually quite modern, with plenty of TVs playing Indian music videos. There are water dispensers if you are thirsty, and their counter features a huge selection of snacks and desserts that you can purchase by the pound. I have had a ton of things here. All items are tasty and refreshing and for having no meat, quite satisfying! Some of my favorites are the cheese(sometimes with onion) dosa which comes with a spicy soup and some other condiments, the sweet and crunchy delhi chaat, and a nice cool mango laasi(I prefer the regular one as the special is a little too sweet for me). I have also tried the thali(a variety of items), the chole sambusa(a stews with potato fritters), and the pani puri(crispy little filled puffballs).

I love the coconut chutney here, and the food is incredibly cheap for what you get. This is Indian snack food — don’t come here expecting curry and naan. The staff can also be somewhat rude, but since it’s more of a counter service place I can let that slide.

Used to love this place for quality, but now its operated by a bunch of students who don’t know anything about the food and also a tad arrogant. Lat two times the food is unhealthy spicy and stale. They also fed me mango milk instead of lassi, and then rudely said thats how its made here. Stay away!

this place is okay, I ordered the plain dosa which was served cold to me. The sambhar that came with it did not taste fresh at all. Pros: decently priced food cons: poor customer service! no variety on the menu

We were traveling whole week so wanted very homely food, Gujarati is very similar to our food so tried this place. And we so got it right. Food was excellent. We ordered one full thali and one mini thali. My personal experience with Thalis is you get few good thing and few things are there just to add count of cuisines. But FOODHEREWASFANTASTIC! I liked each and every thing . Thali includes samosa, aloo, undhiyo(best for me), daal(super home made), rice, roti, papad, sweet jilebi. Would definitely recommend!

Tried the Mysore Masala dosa here. It was pretty delicious, and spicy. The sambar was really good as was the coconut chutney(for some reason it was green, but it does taste like what I have had in the south) Very impressed with this place, especially since I have found so many Indian restaurants that are in no shape or form authentic. They had a bunch of sweets as well. The next time I will try the Thaali and the sweets. They had bollywood music playing in the background, which for me was nostalgic. Kinda cool reminded me of Chitrahaar from back in the days. I kinda enjoyed it.

I moved from new jersey 4 months ago and so far every indian place I have been to around here has been a dud including this one. We ordered Delhi Chaat and chili garlic masala dosa. The chaat was really heavy on the dahi(yogurt), which i am not sure if thats normal for Delhi Chaat — never had it before. Didnt enjoy it much though. Too much sweet not enough hot. The masala dosa did have a crispy Dosa and decent coconut chutney, but the sambar was much too bland for the dosa and the masala(potato filling) was not very flavorful and the garlic was really overwhelming. And, it was not spicy at all. I am guessing this place favors a more north indian palate which is more sweet and less spicy. We are south indian and my quest for good sambar will continue!

We visited yesterday for a quick cheap bite and ordered a chole-roti(they were out of bhaturas) and a masala dosa. The masala dosa came with a coconut chutney and a sambar. This item was truly horrible. The dosa tasted fine but the masala was not authentic. The chutney tasted yucky and it was green in colour with food colouring added to it! The whole thing was gelled together in some inexplicable way. The sambhar didn’t look like sambhar and it was just onions and watery lentils. Chole was spicy with no spice level regulation and the rotis wer OK but not fresh from the stove. We received our order in under 10 minutes. The TVs play horrible bollywood music from 10 years ago. Great mood spoiler.

Great spot! Dosa is soooo good! Samosas are good and the rose lassi is a nice finish. Definitely would come back again.

I came here out of curiosity after walking by this restaurant located in a strip mall comprised primarily of Indian restaurants and shops. They have an extensive selection of Indian sweets and treats behind a glass case. They have everything imaginable from traditional flavors such as rose water, to more eclectic flavors like chocolate. They are generous with their samples, too. This place specializes in Indian style street food, or snacks. We ordered a combination platter that came with a bunch of different chutneys and curries. I enjoyed this, especially since it came with crisp flatbreads. I was intrigued by a dish that was essentially fried whole wheat shells drenched in a sweet yogurt sauce. This was addicting and very refreshing and I polished this off quickly. They have a very very extensive menu but most people at neighboring tables ordered dosas, a deep fried chickpea flour(?) stick rolled up with fillings inside. These were as long as a baseball bat and made me wish I had ordered one. They also make their own ice creams, I believe. They have Indian flavors like mango and saffron but also chocolate and rocky road, I think. Very well rounded restaurant, in more ways than one.

I don’t know Indian food too well… but this was great! Very much on the SPICY side though.(I have a medium tolerance for spice) the spice definitely grows on you. I had the ragada samosas, good portion of the price, $ 4.99 + tax. Two samosas with lentil chutney. All vegetarian options here and a whole display case of desserts. In my opinion authentic Indian experience overall.

Come here for Indian snacks and you won’t be disappointed. After a visit to the temple, my family comes here to eat! We have ordered a variety of menu items: dahi puri, pani puri, aloo tikki, sev puri, masala dosa, and a bunch more. Everything is pretty delicious. Obviously, it isn’t comparable to food in India, but for a restaurant in the United States, it is pretty darn awesome. The staff is usually pretty nice and they have a wide variety of dry packaged snacks as well as sweets which are absolutely delicious. The jalebi and boondi ladoo are the best here! Can’t wait to come back with my family. :)

Okay, I’ve only been here twice, I know nothing about this kind of Indian food, but I love it. My pathetic attempts at remembering the good stuff we got the previous time was«a huge cylinder» and some«triangles». Now I know those are the Masala dosa with coconut chutney and the chole samosas! Growing up I didn’t really run into opportunities to savor these flavors and probably wouldn’t know what they were if you told me, but they are freakin’ delicious. All I can say is the complimentary soup is spicy, almost too spicy for me to handle but oh so good. The chole samosa comes with curry sauce that is sweet, spicy, and 100% worth the extra dollars. The huge masala dosa is a thin crêpe that’s lightly crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, goes perfectly with the creamy chutney, and is just plain fun to eat. It’s filled with potato and… chives I think. The heartiness of everything makes me completely forget I’m eating vegetarian. And the amount you get for the price makes it a STEAL. We got 2 extra samosas but we didn’t even need it, and we took the leftovers home in boxes. Everything came out to ~$ 13. A-ma-zing. Now I’m seeing pictures of something called Delhi chaat and mango lassi that look just as amazingly delicious? Must go back.

I love this place so much. I know absolutely nothing about Indian snacks so I can’t speak to authenticity and have no real basis of comparison, but everything here is great. There are all kinds of unexpected sweet, savory, and spicy combinations. Most dishes are priced around four to five dollars, and one is enough for a small meal. Two would be really stuffing yourself. Although I suppose this depends on exactly what you order as size obviously varies. But it’s still a bargain. The best way to enjoy this place is to come with lots of friends and share. The thali seems like an easy way to try a bunch of different items, but I don’t feel like it features the best options. Chole samosa(chickpea curry served with two samosa — more like a meal) and Delhi chaat(chickpeas, fried shells, and potatoes with yogurt and interesting sauces — more of a snack) are two of my favorites. Oh, and everything is vegetarian, but don’t let that scare you off.

Years ago I brought a brand new coworker to my favorite Indian Buffet. We were silent – in a polite and profession way – from rice to curry, but when our plates reached the tray of kheer he spoke up: Co: «Ummm… You know that’s the dessert… Right?» Me: «Yep!» Co: «They why are you drizzling it all over your food?» Me: «That’s how I like it!» Soooo, that’s me. The girl who puts Halwa in her Aloo Gobi and dots her plates with spoonfuls of marmalade instead of chutney. Sweet and savory is my jam! And when this girl popped one of Surati’s Pani Puri in her mouth, she was overcome by the stomach churning sweetness. Hoping it was a fluke, she ordered a bowl of Bhel Puri; it too tasted like it was dredged from the floor of a sugar refinery. Needless to say, I was highly disappointed with this chaat.

Ugh. Okay, I hate to admit this based on my love for chaat(Indian street food) but I have lived in SD for 7 years now(oh my…) and haven’t tried Surati Farsan until very recently. Now that that confession is out of the way I can start gushing about how good the chaat is at Surati Farsan. I wanted to introduce this wonderful world of deep fried goodness to my boyfriend so I went a bit overboard in how much I ordered, but I regret nothing! I got the Chole Samosa, Delhi Chaat, Pani Puri, one Masala Dosa, and a Mango Lassi to go. Since most of these things would’ve gotten soggy and gross by the time I got home, they thoughtfully packaged everything individually. However, unless you’ve eaten chaat before, I wouldn’t recommend taking it to go because then you wouldn’t know how to properly assemble everything for the maximum amount of yum. Regardless, everything was on point. I really really enjoyed the Delhi Chaat. Savory yogurt gets me every time. Even though everything is vegetarian, my omnivore boyfriend did not miss the meat at all. After all, all the food is deep fried so it makes up for the lack of meat. I’ll definitely be back and I’ll be bringing my whole crew with me!

When I was getting my bachelors degree, my roommate’s mother would make us amazing homemade indian food, I needed a place that reminded me of that and I found it! AMBIENCE: Abundant seating and clean. Décor is nice, not amazing but not plain or cluttered. I love the feel of the place! SERVICE: You order, pay, get a number and pick up your order when they call that number. The waitress was extremely nice and helpful. FOOD: AMAZING… best indian food i’ve had in San Diego. Surrounded by many other indian businesses in Miramar. I dream about the chole samosa($ 4.99) and just thinking about it makes my mouth water! Make sure to get the samosa with the chole, well worth the extra 2.50. It’s not the same without that chole! Mini thali was also delicious, love the combination of curry and puri you get to choose from, all delicious! Also had the masala dosa which was huge and filled with potatoes! The mango lassi is tasty, better than any other place I’ve had it. Everything is delicious! Definitely a must try and keep coming back for more kind of place!!!
