I was a regular customer, the employees knew me and my order and always asked me if I wanted the same thing which was either the Cali or the peppered Cali. They always had a smile on their face and took very good care of me. I’ve been going here for 10 years :(sad to see it close down

Hate to see them closed. This was by far the best sub place in RB. Always a great sandwich and fast service

I will miss this place. I’ve been going here for at least 15 years. Always good sandwiches here and I liked the customer service too. Prices were mostly reasonable too. It’s been a staple for Rancho Bernardo for a long time. Now, we don’t have a good deli like this anymore. Which Wich sucks, Subway sucks, Vons deli is OK. Brothers Provisions is probably the best sandwich shop around here now, but it’s much different style than Submarina. In the same week, we lost Panda Express in RB Vons. Those are two of the places I’ve been going to since I was a kid. I’ll miss them both

This was a solid deli, good sandwiches at reasonable prices. I probably purchased about 2 – 3 sandwiches per month for about two years. They may re-open at a new location, hopeful that happens.

Delicious sandwiches with fresh bread! One of the best turkey avocado cheese sandwiches I’ve ever had!

OK let me preface this by saying I wrote a SCATHING review of the Submarina in Mira Mesa, one which was well earned. So when a family member suggested we meet at the Submarina in Rancho Bernardo I reluctantly agreed. Well I guess as is the case with most franchised establishments a LOT depends on who is running the show. The RB shop is light years ahead of the nightmarish MM location. The sandwhich had easily three times the amount of cold cuts and as the MM faire… and as others also noted there were more topping options at Submarinas in different locations.

One of my go to sandwich shops. The prices are good and the sandwiches are pretty damn good too. The décor is old and needs to be updated, but I can look past that. Parking is good and the service was great. Stop in for a quick lunch. Enjoy.

The santa fe sub I had was great. The cleanliness wasn’t. The ac felt great as well. If they just cleaned up a bit this place would be the right sub spot.

This Submarina makes great sandwiches but the staff is SOSLOW. I took me 20 minutes to get one sandwich today with only 3 people ahead of me. By the time I was rung up for my lunch, the line must have been 15 – 20 people long. I can’t imagine how long it took for them to get through that. I would still recommend this Submarina since they do have delicious sandwiches, but don’t go at lunch time! Not worth it.

Nice staff. Mom and pop feel with a chain name. Up to expectations in taste and quality but interior looks a little tired. Long wait, agree! But that is the part that makes it mom and pop.

Long line due to poor set up. Not enough employees working/limited roles. If a phone order comes in forget it. There is no extra working station for the phone orders which slows down the line dramatically. If you are not in a rush for lunch eat here, if not go somewhere that can keep up with the busy lunch rush

I’ve been coming to this Submarina for at least twelve years. It has always been one of my favorite sub shops. I love the big, fluffy bread and the fresh sliced meats and cheeses. Typically, I order a veggie sandwich with smoked cheddar and provolone cheese. The smoked cheddar is an absolute must try if you haven’t already. If I don’t feel like cooking and I’m trying to decide where to go, most of the time I think of Submarina(particularly for lunch). When that smoked cheddar crosses my mind, it’s over. As for the service, everyone has always been professional and friendly. The line can get pretty long, but I it moves somewhat fast considering that some people order more than one sandwich. Don’t forget to pick up a stamp card! You get a free sandwich after you purchase nine sandwiches(3 inches or larger).

The service was very slow and it appeared the two girls weren’t listening to the customers. I heard three different mistakes on two sandwhiches that had to be remade. I wasn’t evening paying attention and I heard what the customers ordered. It wasn’t the ladies first time behind the line, they just didn’t seem to care, shame too there’s plenty of other places to eat lucnh.

Awesome mom & pop shop where they slice the meat when you order it. Breads are good. Friendly service.

The owner works really hard but needs to clean up the restaurant. We have given it another try this weekend and are now calling it quits. Doesn’t seem sanitary enough. Another review said it perfect when he said he thinks of all the things he would change/clean up when he waits in line. I do the same thing. Get rid of unsightly stuff on the counters and in the back room. That is all you see when you walk in. Spruce up the cooler, cover up the dusty thermostat and electrical box. Change out the outdated submarine pictures. Get rid of the many boxes of gloves. Put some led light bulbs in the can lights, etc. Doesn’t take much or any money. just a little effort. I would even volunteer to come in and help but I’m sure the owner doesn’t read his Unilocal reviews but I’m sure his employees do.

I wish this place wasn’t so close to work, because then I wouldn’t go so often! They have a good selection of bread and they cut all the meat and cheese on a slicer in front of you.(not sure if it ACTUALLY tastes better than other places, but my mind tells me it does) They have a daily special sandwich which gets you $.75 off the normal price. There are many days that special sandwich includes avocado, so you can’t go wrong there! You can add chips and a drink to any sandwich for $ 2.69(I believe). The pricing is similar to other sandwich shops. Check this place out, you won’t be disappointed!

So much better than Subway. The sandwiches are nice and big, veggies are fresh, meat is sliced on the spot. The service is generally very solid at this location, but occasionally the sandwiches aren’t made as well(less toppings/avocado, messy) depending on who’s making it. The price is also somewhat steep at ~$ 10 for a 9″ sandwich meal with chips and a drink. That being said, I rarely worry about the price as it fills me up and I’m very happy with the sandwich.

I had submarina cater for a lunch meeting. The sub sandwiches were delicious. The meat was fresh and tasty. The bread was soft. They included all veggies and spreads on the side. My order was perfectly executed and was ready by the time I came to pick it up. The staff was very friendly and they even helped me put the food in my car! Will be ordering from submarina again soon.
