Studio V Salon – Hair By Regina

So I just moved from the east coast to San Diego and pretty much completely ignored my hair for over six months– so not only was it a disaster, but I had no stylist and knew that I wanted an overhaul. I decided that I wanted to turn my long dark hair into a highlighted a-​line bob. And that’s a pretty massive change, so you can imagine how scared I was to let a new stylist do it.
That said, I’ll be real and say it was super awkward walking into the salon, primarily because I’m an awkward person that was nervous and babbling about what I thought I wanted, and I’m not a terribly great conversationalist to work with in the first place. So it took a little while for that weird out-​of-​place feeling to go away.
Regina runs a great business. She is very kind and thoughtful and was quick to offer beverages and to try and make me comfortable.
Somebody here said that she has great instincts when she comes to hair and she is meticulous– both very true. She took a ton of time to cut and style my hair, and you can see she’s always thinking about what’s best for you, not what works for most people. I think she honestly does her best to try and understand what it is you’re looking for, even if you’re spectacularly unclear like me :-P She pampers you and takes her time, I never felt like she was in a rush to get me out the door.
Overall I am incredibly pleased with the haircut and the process and have already made my appointment to go back in 6 weeks, likely to do something else with the color (nothing at all wrong with the highlights she did, I did blond/​caramel highlights on my dark brown hair and I underestimated how light everything would turn out). She does beautiful work and you really can’t top her experience.
Shop location is a little awkward, but once you know where it is, super easy to find.

«Regina (Gina)Martinez» first of all I love her she has my maiden name. lol she is friendly, kind, and funny to talk too she has been my friend/​hairstylist for more then 10 yrs she does GREAT every time always makes me me feel beutiful=) (even when I don’t). She did my daughters hair Jasmine and had lots of compliments at school and fb I’m looking forward to a Regina doing my hair for my 25 silver wedding anniversary I’m sure she will do GREAT! Like always.

Regina is awesome! It is so hard to find a stylist that understands your needs and she has it nailed by far! It took me two years to find a stylist in San Diego that was comparable to my girl in Florida that I trusted for over 5 years and Regina has filled the shoes plus some! She is great at everything. cut, color, highlights. you name it.

Regina has amazing instincts when it comes to hair. Not just mine, she does my Mom’s hair and my sister’s. I don’t usually show up with a game-​plan, she takes my vague instructions and her instincts for what works and I walk out with the right cut and color. Regina’s instincts for color are REALLY great. I’ve been coming to her for 6 years. Regina also did the hair for my wedding and my sister’s wedding. I get so many compliments on my hair from my wedding day! You won’t be disappointed.

I love Regina ‘s hair cut. Super recommend! ! I don’t let anyone else cut my hair. She always cut exactly the way I like, never more :-) I feel like a goddess every time I go there.

Just had the best haircut with Regina! She goes above and beyond to make you comfortable and relaxed. I’ve had a difficult time finding someone who can cut my hair right. Regina’s experience shines through, she has a client for life, highly recommended.

Got my nails done here for the first time two weeks ago & the place is fantastic! My technician was Tiffany and she did a great job. I got nail enhancement with gel and they are shaped so perfectly. She took the time to help me find the color I wanted, as I didn’t want to do french, but also didn’t want something that stood out too much. I don’t know about pricing for hair, but nail services are a little pricier than your typical nail salon. However, I can see the reason why. The service is SO MUCH BETTER! They actually care about their clients & will spend the time needed to get the job done. Everyone was very friendly & chatting with each other, including the clients. I will definitely be back.
