Don’t do the pre order mobile app with this place. We ordered 3 drinks and were given a time frame of 3 — 8 minutes to pick up. I got there at 10 minutes and still had to wait another 10 minutes because they started making our drinks when I arrived. VERY disappointing.

A very great location just across the bridge from balboa park. Within walking distance of downtown. This is a great place to walk in off of the street and have a coffee during a waking tour of San Diego. If you’re in balboa park definitely cross the bridge and come over to the neighborhood and grab a quick drink from the Starbucks.

Slowest Starbucks in the world. I’ve came here several times and the service is sooooooo slow that I could literally mix up multiple drinks and run a few blocks by the time they actually start and finish my drink. I worked for Starbucks for 2 years, drive thru and all; so I know the struggle, but man… If you’re not busy(i’m the only customer in the shop) and it take 5 minutes to make my soy white mocha no whip and a venti iced water, then we got a problem. Maybe the fifth time is a charm.

My go-to stop across the street from work. The staff is super friendly and always puts a smile on my face, even on rough work days!

Still a fan of the Starbucks craze. This location has not disappointed me yet.

I’ve been here a few times now it’s my go to location for coffee cookies and snacks. Just your typical Starbucks nothing exceptional no wow factor just nice people easy convenient location and outdoor seating. The one thing it does have is unfortunate people down on their luck hanging out inside sleeping at the tables. This has definitely been the norm for this particular Starbucks never bother some just disheartening to see anytime especially during the holidays.

The coffee and treats are perfectly fine, exactly what you get at any other Starbucks, but the service is seriously lacking. Don’t come here if you’re in a hurry– it always takes at least 10 min to receive your beverage, even if there isn’t a line. With the exception of one friendly barista, the entire staff seems unhappy to be working there, rarely offering even a simple greeting or an apology for long wait times or forgotten items. I only live two blocks away from this location but usually opt to drive downtown or to hillcrest where the staff is far better. It’s disappointing that such a great location on the park is being run by such a sullen and impolite group of people.

I used to not be a fan of the customer service at this very busy Starbucks, but this morning, WOW! Nice job guys! Worth the wait.

I’m a big fan of Starbucks, and they usually meet expectations. However this particular location is not the best. Employees are not always friendly and quality of drinks is inconsistent. Last week I came here before going to balboa park, and guy at the register just walk away when I start ordering, then he cleaned the counter, and after he came back to take my order. I had to repeat 3 times to make sure he wrote down soy milk on my drink. Anyways it’s always clean there and there is always bunch of people hanging out.

I love the location: it’s my the only spot before I start my walk in Balboa Park. However, drinks always have different tastes, like you never know how your latte will taste next time. Patio is good and inside too.

Used to frequent this location as I worked a block from here. Miss it and actually feeling a bit nostalgic. The service is always top notch and the drinks and food– the best! You’ll always find people lounging even on weekends sipping on coffee or tea and piggy backing onto their free wifi for hours. Check out this dude in my pic. Street parking is available but limited. Walking is the best method to get here. Only a few steps from Balboa Park and a short taxi ride to the heart of Downtown. I always make it a point to visit when in the area to reminisce…

Want to talk? Want to have coffee? We’ll talk, We’ll have coffee — no big whoop. If you’re going to do a Starbucks this is my favorite to hit. There are so many interesting folks I don’t really finish my coffee. It is a good stop if you’ve been hanging out in the park.

I used to come here daily, now I literally go 1 mile out of my way(I live a block from this one) because I somehow still save time. I gave it a half dozen times(literally) before writing a negative review, because I understand things can change from day-to-day. Nothing changed. There can be four people waiting and five staff working, somehow it still takes ages. Morning rush time? Forget it. The manager is sweet, but the rest of them lug around like they’ve been training for years and still just don’t get it. The Starbucks that I go out of my way for now is in the heart of the business district downtown, same amount of staff, five times as many people ordering, yet somehow a fraction of the time to walk in and out with your order. I’ve never walked out of any place from being tired of standing around so long. this Starbucks has ensured that I’ve done it three times now. hence the Unilocal.Hope this helps!

No working bathroom? Highly unlikely. No answer when asked where the staff go. Perfect way to encourage customers to drink and leave

Ugh this place is really hit or miss. I’m there 5 am most mornings of the week. And depending on who makes your coffee it’s either great or the worst thing ever. I have spoken to the manager, she’s so nice and understanding and makes a great drink. But most the employees here have no care what so ever. I ordered a no whip cream drink and recieved 2 inches of foam instead.

Mocha frapachinos were weak and almost tasteless. But free wi fi and across from Balboa Park brings us back.

Meh it’s Starbucks. I grew up in my teenaged formative years when my mom who is German used to take me to the macchiato since my family and I moved back from Germany. Now, it’s MacDonalds, Big Mac, Pizza Butt, Einstein Bros, insert lame fast food name here _______. Starbucks used to be about good coffee and had great beans. Such is the«American» way where original thoughts die of loneliness. I only go to Starbucks because of the FLOTUS and the 2nd Lady in Chief who promote hiring Veterans. Thank you Starbucks for hiring Veterans for believing in them and for giving them a chance. I don’t want to talk about«race» either and read your slogans. I want an espresso, double short with a whisper of foam and a touch dry in a short cup. that’s it. I don’t want a stale bagel sandwich or a scone or whatever dried out pastry you have in your fridge. I hope Starbucks goes under so that they can resurface again in a lesser form with good coffee and amazing beans. Anyhow, thank you for hiring Veterans. Semper Fi, and Anchors Away. Because of this, I will still suffer through your un-sufferable coffee once a month. The only reason for the 3 stars is because some of the barista’s are really sweet and professional so my comments are more about Starbucks the Corp.

By far the worst starbucks on the planet. I created a Unilocal account just so I could warn everyone how bad it is. Lived near this starbucks for more than 2 years and I still only go here out of desperation. Only go here if you have all the time in the world. It doesn’t matter if there is one person or 20 people, it will still take 20 minutes to get your drink. Staff has major attitude problem and no hustle.

Rather small Starbucks store on 5th Ave but it has the friendliest employees! A/c is cranking pretty heavily and if you don’t find a seat there are also some tables on the sidewalk. Good spot to go to after an extensive walk in Balboa Park or just for your Sunday morning coffee.

My go to Starbucks when I’m at work since it is about 500 ft away haha. The staff is so very welcoming and friendly. There is one staff here that seems to have an attitude whenever I come in. He just seems like he hates his job and comes off snobby. I’ve caught him rolling his eyes once too. BUT everyone else is SO friendly and they always get my orders right, even when I order complicated drinks sometimes. This location is clean and updated as well. I like their outdoor area as well, perfect for those who enjoy people watching. Definitely recommend this location to people near the area or passing the area.
