There aren’t many days in San Diego where it is not beautiful. Parks are the perfect place to enjoy the sites, perfect weather, and catch some Vitamin D. There are tables easily accessible and is a great place to bring some food and make it an outing. There is a nice playground space for the kids. At night I will say there can be a sketchy vibe. I saw that this parking lot can be a nice spot to wait for flight arrivals versus the cellphone lot if you have time and want to go for a walk. One word of advice though. The public restroom has by far got to be one of the nastiest. Don’t use it if you don’t have to.

Two stars because meh, I’ve experienced better, if by better you mean the Spanish Landing Park East right next door. This park is too small to be worth a full review. It’s where you wind up if the other half of the park(East) is too crowded. If there’s one reason to venture, here, it’s to see what is quite possibly the nastiest public restroom in SD. I wouldn’t even call it a restroom. It’s more like a brick porta potty. I’m not sure how to correctly spell porta potty, but I know this park is not enough reason for me to properly research it.

It was another beautifu, sunny day in San Diego and we were strolling the path alongside the water at NTC Park towards the bay. Somehow our wandering led us to the west end of Spanish Landing Park. I’ve never realized what the park had to offer although I’ve driven by so many times. There’s tables and playground space by the sand. There’s also a functional bathroom, but that’s about it. Some might catch a sketchy vibe towards this section of the park at night because the sidewalk goes beneath the N Harbor Dr overcross bridge. I don’t know how well the lighting is at the later hours. We didn’t run into any hobo camps or anything like that. Just a few skaters kids doing their thing under the bridge. I imagine activity and occasional joggers could help minimize the riffraff. While there are more artsy features towards the east side of the park, there were still a people along the rocks at the west end. Local folks had their fishing lines in the water and others were at the picnic benches. I could see this parking lot as an alternative spot to wait for flight arrivals at the airport. From the designated cell phone lot you get a great view of the planes, but not the best vantage point of the bay. Spanish Landing Park offers another view of the planes on final approach in addition to another picturesque view of the city.
