SoulCal Food Truck

I had the jerk burger with mango pineapple salsa and a side of slaw and greens. It was all delicious and for a reasonable price. The burger was flavorful and the greens had a nice little kick to them just how I like it. Will definitely buy from them again. I’m looking forward to trying more of their food.

Food is amazing! You can tell that there is a lot of time and passion put into the food. Every plate is unique, yet each is sooo full of flavor. You can tell that everything is cooked to perfection, and that they care so much of what people think about their food. Great people. Everything they do, they do it so well!

My events company hired Nadia and her great SoulCal Food Truck team to work with us on an event with a high-​profile NYC based magazine. Not only was Nadia a pleasure to set everything up with, the food was delicious and exactly what we had asked for. She provided us all the paperwork we needed for the proper permitting and put together a menu, just for us. She handled everything from beginning to end, including but not limited to the flow of the lunch portion of the event. I honestly could not have asked for better service and food. I would 100% hire Soul-​Cal for an event, or just find them out and about in San Diego for their amazing food.

Awesome food! Had Burger last week and the chicken kabob plate tonight. Clean food, not greasy and lots of flavor.

I saw a clip about these guys on the news and after seeing the habanero dog, I knew I had to try it! I was lucky enough to come across them in HIllcrest the other day, and I wasn’t disappointed! Great flavor! Like nothing I would expect from a food truck — this dog was awesome! I topped it off with the S’more empanadas — unbelievable!!! Flakey, delicate, and full of flavor. This is no ordinary food truck! Very friendly people, out of this world food and the truck looks cool too! My only question is, where can I find you? I can’t wait to try the Black Tie Burger!

This is a great food truck. The Black Tie Burger is my personal favorite, but all the menu options are excellent. If get the chance to talk to the owner or the chef, you will understand why — they are not only talented, but truly passionate about their cuisine. Every effort is made to make the food delicious and diverse. If you ever see this truck at an event, or out and about, you definitely need to stop by and try it — you won’t regret it. And say hello to the chef Jamal!

Came from an event catered by SoulCal Food Truck this weekend. The food was great. I had the Black Tie Burger and fries. I was delicious. Our friends had the empanadas, habanero hot dogs, and salads, and they liked all of them. The owners were very friendly with all the guests and tried very hard to accommodate everyone’s orders. These guys are new to the food truck world and they did a great job with some excellent food. I hope they become more popular around SD.

The best empanadas we have ever had! My husband was playing the Casbah last Friday, and were excited to try this delicious menu. We had one order of each of the empanadas. The Chef was super cool, telling us he put his soul into this menu. The breading was the perfect pastry compliment to the meaty (and veggie), seasoned, mouthwatering innards. Can’t wait to try everything! He said they might make it out there every weekend. I might go to the Casbah, but I would be going for the food ;D.

I have visited SoulCal a couple of times, and I can’t wait to go again. I’ve tried most of their menu items, and I can honestly say there’s nothing less than fantastic on the menu. Their empanadas are the flakiest, most flavorful in the universe, and their constantly-​evolving Black Tie Burger is exceptionally flavorful.
I know there are a lot of good food trucks out there, but there are few GREAT food trucks. These guys produce gormet quality stuff at reasonable prices… worth going out of your way to find!

At the first SoulCal Food Truck event, we were able to sample several items from the menu –thank goodness, because everything sounded so amazing it was hard to pick just one! We started with the empanadas — one with jerk chicken and a lightly sweet salsa and one with chorizo and cheese. Normally I don’t care for chorizo, but these empanadas were a whole different animal. The chorizo was perfectly spiced and wasn’t greasy at all. The lovely, flakey crust was to die for. Next, the juicy black tie burger melded several delicately balanced flavors and was served on a lightly toasted ciabatta-​like roll. Last, but not least –the habanero dog: a hot dog topped with a habanero slaw that included crisp, tart green apples. Absolute genius! My advice –Run, Don’t Walk– to check out this new food truck!
