It’s got a decent selection of café treats, however I find it frustrating that on a Saturday morning around 830am it isn’t open so I can get a beverage.

This is a cute little café in East Village. My job just relocated to a new site just around the block, and I have a feeling I’ll be visiting this café often! They have a wide variety of menu items(coffee drinks, teas, floats, sandwiches, desserts) and I love that they use produce from SMARTS farm. I’ve ordered coffee a few times and had lunch there once — I wish I remembered the name of the sandwich, because it was one of the best sandwiches I’ve had.(And that’s saying something! I know my way around a sammich.) The only downside might be the speed of service. Every time I’ve been there(alone and with others) service has taken a while, even with more than one person behind the bar. I think they are fairly new, so this might just be due to growing pains… so for now it’s a good spot to stop by for a bite or a beverage, as long as you aren’t in TOO much of a hurry.

Great spot! Everything I have tried has been super tasty, and everyone there is very friendly. The food is always fresh; and, It’s better then organic, because they try and grow their produce(veggies!) 2 blocks away at their Smarts Farm location. The interior is very modern; however, a couch would be great.

Our office just held a catered lunch meeting and the food from smarts café was great. I tried 2 sandwiches and a light salad. All I would highly recommend and look forward to having again.

Just moved here from long beach and I was missing my Local coffee shops. Their Mexican mocha is just the right ingredients to a better day. I also had their grilled cheese on my first visit? LIFE changing. Definitely will be coming back for more!

Love this café during my school brakes. The coffee is nice and strong and their blends are awesome. The service of the baristas is outstanding and always fast and correct. Long needed coffee shop so close to campus, and around it is clean and safe. Hope it’s stays successful for long time.

I feel privileged to have been invited to the soft opening of Smarts Café @ Smarts Corner in the developing East Village of San Diego. I am a big fan of businesses that focus on the idea of doing good and doing well… and this is what Smarts Café is up to «doing»! The café is a part of Smarts Farm(just down the street) — how much closer could you go for local produce? The café serves delicious coffee, espresso, boba, and a selection of baked goods and breakfast items. The lunch choices involve various sandwiches and paninnis(which my husband and I had the pleasure to sample today). My favorite was the Cowgirl… or…was it the Cowboy? Either way, you don’t have to travel the west to find some healthy farm fresh food… you can hit this urban trail instead! Visit Smarts Farm too! You can buy a plot for $ 150 per year.

We were invited to the soft opening of this little café that could. The shop is known for using fresh ingredients from the nearby Smarts Farm. Smarts Farm is a community garden around the corner set up to connect urban residents — young, old, and undecided — to growers, food, and the environment. Smarts Farms and the Smarts Café define the term«think global, act local»! Acting local means being an active producer and consumer within the local economy. When you make or buy locally sourced products, you are reducing your environmental impact. And it isn’t only about nutrients and calories. It’s about sharing. When a grower gives you with their food, they are giving you their heart. The menu includes paninis, salads, and snacks paired with coffe, tea, smoothies, and Boba drinks. Boba is a tapioca-like starch from the cassava root known as an energy source. Located at 1088 Park Blvd at C near the trolley stop, this is a place not to be missed.
