I went in at 12AM. There was only one guy working and he was busting his hump keeping up with the orders. He got my food to me as fast as he could and was very polite and personable. I had a bacon cheeseburger and curly fries. I also ordered regular fries and chicken tenders for my wife. The food was very good the portions were decent size. The customer service is why I give it five stars.

I don’t agree at all with the other reviews. Unlike others i will give this place 4 stars and the reason is because this is a Hospital Cafeteria not a full restaurant. They have variety in the menu to accommodate most diets. They serve Breakfast from 6:30AM-10AM which includes a Fruit Salad, Oatmeal bar and a Just omelet section. In this section you get to tell the chef what to add to your omelet and he cooks it right in front of you. They serve lunch from 10:45−3PM this menu changes every day and their options are pretty good. They Have a deli section where you can build your own sandwich cold or hot. They also have some food already prepare in the fridges things like sushi rolls, cold sandwiches, and Salads. One thing that never changes is the salad bar where you prepare your own salad and then weight it at the register. Next to the Salad Bar you have the soup of the day. This soup is also change daily and the options are always delicious. They always have french, and sweet potatoes fries. Like any good cafeteria they also have pizza!!! The same guy that makes omelets for breakfast in the mornings prepares in front of you the special of the day. This varies from salads all the way to special pastas. Prices are pretty reasonable with under $ 10 you could have a pretty healthy and delicious meal. Customer service varies from one person to another but for the most part the people that work there are nice. You get the ones that are always smiling and making conversations and those that simply don’t engage in any conversation but to just say hi and bye. For all these reason i could not believe that people rated 1 star. People have to realize that its a hospital with a decent cafeteria.

i work for the sharp system and i rotate to the different sharp hospitals. and this review is not an exaggeration. this cafeteria is nothing compared to grossmont and chula vista cafeterias and is all about money. during lunch time, all they serve are high profit margin foods, meaning foods that cost very little and give more profit. like today for example, small potato halves, pesto pasta that they sell for $ 5.99. pork medallions for $ 5.99(small portion immersed in some broth which is totally unappetizing), large cut french fries. the other day, carrots for sides, zucchinis. spaghetti with watery meat sauce. those are main entrees and sides. chicken tenders(3 pcs, compared to grossmont 4 – 5 pcs) for the same price. everytime i come here for lunch, i lose half of my appetite knowing all they want from me is my money. and they don’t care about serving good food unlike in grossmont where you can really see the effort the cafeteria staff makes to serve good stuff. high profit margin foods huh, guess what, i’m not buying anything and i’ll just have a caramel macchiato instead and some muffin for lunch from the coffee kiosk. the only real good thing about all this is i’m forced to go on a diet because of the lack of appetizing food. for that i’d give them 1 star, for an otherwise zero star.

Was there last night after seeing a friend in the hospital. The chef is a total jerk, he is rude to customers, staff and its seems that his only interest is in feeding himself. The poor kid that was working the line was doing all of the work while the so called chef was barking orders and being rude to everyone. There was a nurse next to me whom he totally ignored. She finally got his attention and told him she had 30 minutes for dinner and needed some help. He then yelled at the young kid working with him to get with the program. The food is abysmal at best and someone needs to staff this place so that one young kid is not doing everything.

Clean area, polite staff, and choices of fresh and pre-packaged food. What more could you ask for out of a hospital cafeteria?

Not bad for a small cafeteria. They have pretty good hours, open most of the day and late at night(midnight-0300!) Prices aren’t as low as you might hope for at a hospital cafeteria but I they seem pretty small and provide a decent variety of options. There’s a small salad/fruit bar with 2 soup options for lunch and dinner. 4 coolers with prepackaged soup, salad, sushi and drink options. 2 large drink coolers. There’s a ready made hot line to grab pizza, burgers, fries & chicken fingers quickly and run. Otherwise there’s a hot line with 2 cafeteria style main dishes with starches & hot veggies, or they can make a limited amount on the grill to order. There’s also a deli counter where they’ll make you sandwiches to order and lots of chips, snacks & coffee. So far I’ve tried the chicken fingers(ok, a little dry), zesty tomato soup(kinda different but not horrible), sesame chicken pasta with broccoli(tasted a lot like Lean Cuisine but the pasta was overdone), and the egg/potato/cheese breakfast burrito(probably the best value for your buck). The staff seem a little slow. Very different from the outstanding nutrition staff who come to rooms to take orders and bring patients’ trays. Nutritionists visit daily to ensure the food is satisfactory. And they do a great job accommodating the patient’s diet requirements and making suggestions for improvement. The patients get fantastic customer service and I guess that’s where it really counts in a hospital.

I work at Sharp memorial and have had to occasionally eat here-Where do I start? The food is typical of many«buffet» style cafeterias that are inherently awful. During the week they have an «Action Station» where for two dollars more you get the same food, but it’s mixed with a pasta, or fajitas etc. giving you the illusion that the food is prepared«just for you» Salad bar rates 1.5 stars, but on the weekends it gets a zero, it seems they have two different crews working, one during the week and one which shows up on weekends. The soup is usually a good go-to, but that’s iffy and now that they have raised the prices on it,.out of the question The made to order Pizza and Sandwich shop are the best thing this place have going for it, only because of the incredibly nice woman who works there. The cheese is something similar to Mozzarella, but not quite right. When melted it has the consistency of cheddar or Jack,.awful. The Pizza crust, when cooked thoroughly, has a slighter bitter aftertaste. There are some incredibly nice people who work the food line, unfortunately they are overshadowed by the lazy, grumpy, bitter people who work there as well. Tonight for example a man asked for corn on the cob, pointed to it and repeated«corn on the cob» as the server gleefully dished him up carrots while speaking in spanish to two other food service people in the line. After asking again politely for corn on the cob the server stated«No prollem», turned to the other employees and talked about the man in Spanish referring to him as a «güey» which can mean stupid, or dumb as well as «man» The customer was visibly uncomfortable knowing that from the laughter emitted from the other two clowns was directed at him. I apologized to the man and directed him to the proper channels for complaints. This was teh same moron when I asked him last week what a dish was he said ” Meat” I asked him if it was pastrami or cane asada and he said «Meat, for Ruin samich» Meat for a Reuben sandwich? This place is AWFUL on weekends and tolerable on weekdays when there are actual managers there,.avoid if you can
