I use to come here back in the day… And I always enjoyed it… One night I got completely trashed… Margaritas, shots of yayger, beers… trashed. And then I went to try and get in the door. I was refused entry. On the cab ride home I hurled out the cabber’s window. None-the-less, olé cabbie boy wasn’t too happy. Have I been a bad boy before? Yes, yes I have.

Longboards in no more! So sad it’s closed and now called PB Cantina. It looks like Cabo cantina since they bought them and it’s no longer cool. Thumbs down!

What the heck! Where did my Long Boards go? My go to neighborhood bar is some cantina? Like we need another one of those in PB?

After coming in here one Tuesday night, it totally made sense why I had never never even heard of this place after living in San Diego for 5 years, and PB for one. Because it’s not my type of bar… The tacos were sub-par, and while they were cheap, they were just sooo not worth it. You’re in PB, your options for taco tues are plentiful. Don’t waste the opportunity by coming here. I wouldn’t recommend making an effort to stop by, but it might be because of the types of places I like. This is not one of them.

This place just seems to be getting worse… The last time I went with friends, the server was only friendly to the men in the group. First off, I ordered chips. By the way, they are not free and you have to pay for them. They were stale. Really gross… The server brought out my drink, it definitely wasn’t what I ordered… I didn’t want to send it back because I am too shy for that. But when my friends encouraged me to gently say something, the server got kind of attitudey… said she had to talk to her manager. She then came back and, kind of rude, asked what I wanted. I pointed to the wine that was on special for the evening(it was a Wednesday evening and the price was less than on another day) and she took forever to bring it out. I ended up getting two glasses with my meal, and when the bill came, she charged us full price for both glasses. When I asked about the charges, again with an attitude, said she had to talk to her manager. Took forever but she came back and said that she took care of it. I had a really bad stomach ache the next day that my friend and I think is from something I ate/drank at Longboards :( I guess I just didn’t appreciate the lack of customer service, and also feel like their servers should know the specials and not give a customer attitude for growing the balls to ask about being overcharged on a bill… it’s sometimes hard to do that for us shy folks.

This place has gotten to be one of the bars I have frequented most since I have moved to Pacific Beach. I have gone when they get reggae bands play live music. I also go on their taco tuesday. I will probably go many more times too. So this place gets a recommendation for sure. Staff is pretty cool. Bartenders pour generously. Overall, Its a fun place to get a bite to eat and a few drinks.

Came in on Saturday afternoon for an early dinner or late lunch, depending on how you look at it. I do not go to Longboards that often, mainly because it’s on the other side of town and when I go out in PB, I tend to walk. But we were in the hood and it made sense. The place wasn’t packed, but it was far from empty and slow. Crystal was our server and was on point with drinks, food, getting us a jenga game and keeping our water pitcher filled. Food was solid, prices were right and again, service was solid. At the end of the day, I need someone to give a darn I’m looking for a drink or food and these guys came through. Plenty of TV’s to watch a game, big bar area if you’d rather sit there and an ok-sized porch for eating outside or smoking, if you smoke. If it was closer, I’d go back more, but regardless, it’s a trustworthy spot to hit up for grub or a few beers.

This is my bar. There are many like it but this one is mine. It is close to my house. It shows Red Sox games regularly during the season(Patriots and Bruins as well). It has a pretty tasty Taco Tuesday. It has a good rotation of live bands. It has less douche-baggery than some bars closer to the beach. The bartenders, servers, and most of the bouncers remember you or are at least friendly enough to make you think they do. You’ll receive a decent pour on the drinks; it varies a little but overall you’ll definitely get your money’s worth most nights. The food is above average and there’s a lot to choose from on the menu. The front bay doors roll up on either side to give a nice open air feel to the whole place, as well as the ability to sit and people watch bustling Garnet Avenue. This is my local, and will be for some time to come. It’s a fun start or finish to a night out in PB.

2.5 stars If you live in PB and it’s Cinco de Mayo, you gotta hit the bars. It seems like a popular starting point for pub crawls is Longboard(according to my bf), so that is exactly what we did. The bartender was either inexperienced or just plain bad. But for all six beers we ordered on tap, she managed to get ½ beer and ½ foam in each glass. Then she desperately wiped the sides of the glass with her fingers as the foam spilled over(were her hands clean?!). This is definitely a place that’s great to hang out, but only if you’re with the right company. I hear the live bands are enjoyable. Maybe next time.

***Warning*** This is a Boston bar. If you don’t particularly like the red sox, pats, or bruins, maybe go to another spot. That said, my roommate is from Boston, not me, hence why I’ve been. Food & drinks: lots of choices! Mexican food, salads, lots of apps, burgers, sandwiches, wraps, entrees, fish & chips etc. They also serve breakfast: omelettes, bennies, Mexican favorites, pancakes & waffles. They come out prompt, correct and delicious. Really good food! Everyday they have drink and food specials too. Service: all the bartenders are really friendly and, when they aren’t slammed, are willing to chat. The servers are prompt, nice, and accurate. They do a really good job. Atmosphere: like I stated earlier, it’s a Boston bar. It’s very frequently filled with Massholes who’ve had a lot to drink. If you don’t bother them, they won’t bother you. Don’t think that you can wear any NY jerseys or tees though. When any sort of game is on it gets packed so get there early(during football season if the games at 1ish, you better get a table around 11). They frequently have bands and live music which adds some uniqueness compared to all the other PB bars. When bands play, there is usually a cover though :(bummer! Amenities: free wi-fi, lots of tvs(they even have a large projection screen that comes down for games), small patio area out front, and a couple of video games. Some days when it’s not full of people: Sunday night, monday, and Thursday(if there isn’t a band playing). Overall it’s a fun bar that you can usually mix and mingle at if you are in the mood for that. Just be careful if you’re the type of person to piss people off easily after a drink or too, maybe this isn’t the place for you.

This place is a pretty good go-to in PB. Service can be spotty. Came on a Friday nite and they were trying to clear out some tables for the upcoming band. Instead of telling us this, our server just completely ignored us in the hopes that we would leave. It was to the point of awkard. She would walk within 1 foot of our table and not make eye contact! And we all needed drinks. Other times, it’s been decent. Pretty good food for a bar… carnitas are juicy, good size salads and sandwiches. Good live music, come before 9:00pm so you don’t have to pay the cover.

The easiest Longboarding I’ve ever done and minus the territorial surfers that get all aggro if you accidentally steal a wave. RT’s is one of the most chill spots in PB, and has always been a favorite when I’m in the neighborhood. They’ve got pretty cheap drinks, friendly staff members, entertaining live acts, and a much more mellow vibe than most of the places down the block. The food could be better, but if you’re in PB after dark chances are a subpar meal will be the least of your worries. For a cool beach bar without some of the obnoxious traits this part of town is known for Longboards is definitely a safe bet.

Thank goodness for Longboard’s so us New Englanders in San Diego have a bar to go to for games!!! The atmosphere is amazing and that’s all I really care about… but the reasonable prices and the good food are obviously plusses! We got there at 9 am(YES, 9 am) for the AFC Championship to get ourselves a sweet table, and we were definitely impressed with the breakfasts we had. Yum. And considering we were there for… at least 10 hours, the bill was not bad at alllll… Well, well worth it. Jena has been our girl the past couple of games and she’s amaziiiiinggg… kick-ass server and great personality! =) We also had Christie for that last game, and she gave great service especially considering it got pretty damn busy. Everyone is friendly, bathrooms are clean… and you always end up meeting someone who is from your neck of the woods when you’re there. GOPATS!!! :]

4 stars for food 5 for atmosphere Best bar in San Diego?! Is it because it’s a Boston bar?! Of course! We came here at 10AM, yep you heard me, to catch the Patriots game. And sadly if you’re at a bar you aren’t drinking water, so we dove right in and ordered a few buckets. Mind you this was after NYE, so we were all hurting a little bit and needed some carbs to soak up the booze from the night before and then to have food in our stomachs for Sunday Funday. At this point we needed food, a few of us decided to go for the gusto … go big or go home. We ordered the Breakfast Plus: French Toast, 2 eggs with your choice of meat(I passed!), toast and a choice of beans, rice, breakfast potatoes and fruit. I went for the eggs scrambled but only the egg whites, passed on the toast I already had French toast and had the fruit. While it seemed like a lot of food it was semi on the«healthy» side. The French toast was absolutely delicious and also a decent size. I did find something picking at the basket of French fries that happened to be next to me and I typically don’t like fries but oh my! These were out of this world! Definitely worth ordering… this is why we got 2 baskets! Amazing bar and if you’re a New England fan, it’s a great place to catch a game, have some grub and booze with like minded people!

Stopped here for a quick beer after dinner… which turned into many beers, and then many many more drinks down Garnet. I love the atmosphere here! The décor is kind of beachy and fun, We came super early, so there weren’t that many people. But a band was setting up to play when we were leaving, which I would’ve liked to stay for(or at least return to listen to sometime). $ 3 Dos Equis, Pacifico, and Budweiser pints everyday all week! This is fantastic, and not something I knew about… I would definitely come here for a chill start to an evening, and possibly for a rowdier late night. The only problem is that it’s a far walk from most of the other hot spots in PB.

I’ve been coming to Longboards for years now and when I used to come more often for the late night music and drinks, I have found that I enjoy the daytime/early evening to be more my jam on a semi-regular basis. It’s located a few blocks from my house, so convenience is huge. What I find rad though is if you hit up the off nights/times, you find some good deals and pretty good food for bar food. We like to go on Wednesday nights because it’s $ 0.25 wing night and happy hour all night long. $ 2.50 domestics and wings all in one shot? Count me in. Appetizers as also half off during happy hour, which, if you haven’t experience their GIANT nachos, you should try them, but make sure you have 4 – 5 people with you because they are gigantic. Wednesday nights are typically overly slammed with people, so it makes for a good later evening spot where you can play Wii games against your friends or trivia with strangers! We also like to go on Friday nights during happy hour for dinner because they have a taco cart guy in the front that whips up fresh tacos right in front of you and you cater to your liking with toppings/sauce/etc. For a $ 1.50/each they are quite tasty and filling if you get a couple. Lastly, we come here for brunch every so often on the weekends and they have quite an array of options for brunch, they serve it until 2pm(which they feel the PB crowd on that late time frame) and they usually aren’t overly busy where you feel overwhelmed or uncomfortable. Overall I enjoy Longboards because they switch up the food options regularly, have a lot of space and provide live music regularly that caters to a variety of different crowds.

I could not have enjoyed my time here more if I hadn’t had such amazing service! I came in and went straight to the bar to order a drink. My bartender(Sean) was SO friendly and when I couldn’t think of what exactly I wanted to drink and he came up with a delicious concoction for me! After that I headed to a table where my wonderful server Tanya couldn’t have been more on top of it! Food amazing Drinks amazing Service amazing Nuff said!

Came here for an outrigger team member’s goodbye party on a wednesday night, so it was a lot quieter than it would be if it were a weekend. Happy hour seems to be a great deal. Don’t get dessert here… a team member got the cheesecake. Looked horrible… The scene totally dies down around 9:30, but that just meant more fun for us. I love that they have Wii on a big screen for all of us to act silly and crazy. Especially good if you play slightly tipsy. We ‘paddled’ like crazy on the Wii sports canoeing. Fun stuff! Overall chill place in PB, but I’m sure there are a ton better places out there.

Yes I came back. Why? Because a friend gave me a free gift card for this place and of course I had to use it. Big mistake. I should have turned it down. It wasnt a large amount on the card but it was enough for a sandwich and fries. So I went in after work to get something to go. The place was pretty busy but not crazy packed. I ordered a sandwich from the bartender and was told 20 – 25 minutes. I wait and wait and wait some more. 30 minutes pass by and I go up to the bar and ask again. Bartender tells me that the kitchen is really busy and tells me it should be coming out any minute. That didnt happen. After another 10 minutes goes by. I walk up to the bar again but this time Im getting ignored by the bartender. Its obvious that he knew what I wanted. I made eye contact with the dude and he glanced away. I left. Fuck it. Im over it. That sandwich just wasnt worth the wait plus being in the midst of drunk east coast bros and frat boys was driving me nuts. I went to In N Out. F*ck this place. Incidents such as this makes me hate PB even more. Actually no, let me clarify. I love PB. I just hate the people that hang out in PB. Theyve ruined PB for me and most of the people that I hang out with wont even consider going to PB for anything. Obviously Im generalizing here but for the most part its pretty goddamn true.

I’ve been here a few times to have drinks and a burger. Their BBQ burger is pretty good and huge! It’s in Pacific Beach(PB), so on the weekends it’s packed with people bar hopping and having a good time. I really enjoy the live music that they have on the weekends. The night we went, it was Reggae. The band was pretty good. I normally don’t dig Reggae bands, but these guys were tolerable. I also like how they have Shock Top on tap… I’ve grown to love this beer. Will I return? Absolutely.

RT’s Longboard is a decent mid-week spot in PB our hero likes to visit on Tuesdays or Wednesdays — Tuesday for their taco specials and Wednesday for the all day happy hour. The fish taco special on Tuesdays recently got jacked up to $ 1.50 a taco, but is still a good value for dinner before 10PM. Green cabbage, salsa, and deep fried cod is served in a generous portion with a wedge of lemon and runny salsa in plastic red baskets here alongside $ 3 Mexican beers and margaritas. RT’s definitely has one of the larger and better fish tacos in PB. In fact, our hero would dare say it is among one of the top happy hour deals for food in Pacific Beach if you are a fan of fish tacos! Don’t stay after 9PM on Tuesday though, because that’s when the worst open mic night in San Diego starts. Everybody who performs has a guitar and thinks they’re Jack Johnson, but with a harmonica instead of actual talent. Our hero was warned about this, but didn’t believe it until he went late one night and none of his friends could stand the singing. PROS: — Good $ 1.50 chicken or fish taco deal on Tuesdays 11AM — 10PM. — Humongous nacho plates! You have to order it to see how ridiculously big it is. CONS: — Takes a while to get served during happy hour. Service is fairly intermittent when it’s busy.

«It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…» I’m officially deducting another star. I know anything goes on Halloween, but I had to update my review after spending All Hallow’s Eve with the shady, shady characters of the LB Grill. On the plus– I LOVE that they still have live bands play decent music– this is definitely an 80’s kids crowd. There are also some decent guys here, although there are not enough 4-letter words to describe the crowd you have to weed through to get to them. The low point of my night had to be when I was trapped in a booth with an Irishman, dressed as an ugly woman, asking if I wanted to fornicate. Thank you, LB Grill, for bringing back the B***slap!
