*update* After I posted the review I spoke to Maryam & Jilian. As they responded below they took my concerns seriously and expressed to me how they will work on this to help provide better customer service to other clients. They also worked with me to make me feel better about my situation and took care of me. I will be back as they do care and want their clients to be happy and so far have done a great job with my hair color. Which as dark as my hair is, is difficult to get as bright as she does.

I’m a guy and I’ve been very happy with Maryam’s work. I’ve been a customer for more than a year. Based on my experience, it’s a comfortable place for guys to go and the stylists couldn’t be friendlier. Try it!

Fantastic place! Maryam is fast, professional and courteous. Their prices are very reasonable as well. My only concern is Roots getting too popular!

Maybe this place is OK for women. As a guy, stay away. It looked like a toddler with a scissors caught me while I was sleeping once she was done. The top was not blended with the sides, she didn’t know how to use the trimmer so she went too far up. She didn’t understand English very well, which did not help the process. I had to go to another place the next day to fix what they did here.

Ok, so I was looking for a salon closer to home, that would make me feel and look like a million bucks! I needed somebody to highlight the beautiful (and camouflage the not-​so-​much…:) A lot of Unilocalers gave Roots and Maryam some great reviews, so I thought I’d give them a try. I just came back from getting my hair cut by Maryam, and she did not disappoint! She «got» what I was going for, and did it in a way that’s perfect for my hair and face! Next week I’ll be getting some highlights, so I’ll update this then. In the mean time, Thanks Maryam! Your hgh recommendations are Well Deserved! :)

I had a great experience at Roots this morning! Maryam was my stylist, and she did a fantastic job!
I called to set up an appointment, and even when I had to call and reschedule (only an hour before!) they were super understanding & sweet about it!
So I came in today in desperate need of a cut, and had a really lovely experience with Maryam. She explained everything that she was going to do, and was very knowledgeable about what length and style would work best with my naturally wavy hair.
And to top it all off, my hair looks AMAZING. So in love with the result! I definitely recommend Roots if you’re in the area & need a great cut for a fair price. :)

Great experience! I got a layered cut and highlights from Maryam. The color was perfect and exactly what I wanted! The cut was perfect and she got it at the exact length that I wanted. Maryam was so nice and easy to talk to. Made me feel very comfortable :)

Great Salon, everyone is so passionate about what they do. Holly saw my color inspiration from Pinterest and did it to the «T»! Wasn’t perfect the first time but she caught it right away and now it looks perfect! I respect that in a stylist! Thanks Holly! I’ll be back

Nikki gave me the best haircut I’ve ever gotten. As a guy going to salon for a haircut, I was unsure at first, but my hair stylist Nikki gave me the perfect cut. She cut it just the way I wanted it; tight on the sides, long on the top with the side part. She blended it perfectly. I will continue to go back to her — She’s the BEST!

My hairstylist Nikki is amazing! Whether Im just getting a haircut, highlights, or blow out, Nikki always does such an amazing job!!! I always come to my appointments with tons of screenshots of what I want and she is always able to make it happen. I always get tons of compliments on my hair, thank to Miss Nikki Black! She is very knowledgable and super friendly and I look forward to my next appointment with her in December!

I am in love with my hair stylist Nikki! I have been getting my hair extensions (tape in extensions) done by Nikki and she is AMAZING! I have gone to so many other places and nothing compares to the quality of work that she does!

I’m mixed and I have very thick curly hair so it’s hard to find someone who can actually cut and thin it out the way I need. I went in for a cut and color and met with Miriam and she did an amazing job! She dyed my hair black and for the first time ever when I washed it the next day there wasn’t any dye that washed out! Miriam is a miracle worker I will definitely be back.

Called this past Saturday morning to see if they could facilitate 2 cut, color, highlight services and was able to get in. Maryam took care of both myself and my daughter and was absolutely fantastic. My daughter and I are both really careful with our hair and she was a gem. Offering suggestions and running through multiple options to find just the right cut/​color/​highlights for both of us. After multiple not so good experiences here in RB, I’m elated to have found my new, permanent salon/​stylist.

Needed a last minute hair and make up for a ball and they def pulled through. I made it through a walk in and had little amount of time. I was surprised and loved the hair and make up that was provided. Thank you ROOTS salon for the awesome service.

I cannot say enough about my stylist Jamie or her salon. Unpretentious and full of experienced and knowledgable hair artists.
Jamie listens to each of her clients needs/​wants, and insures that you will walk out loving your new coiffure.
Jamie is a genius with color. I am picky about my blonde and particularly crazy about my hair looking natural and not like a bad 90’s chunky style highlight disaster… She nails it every time.
She also does a fantastic job on men. I can send my husband here without any fear that he returns with an uneven, sloppy cut or missed fuzzies.
The vibe of Roots is relaxed and inviting, low key and welcoming. Super friendly receptionist who always has a smile… No drama here… And i always bring bubbles.

I had my hair done by Maryam today for the 1^st time and she was absolutely amazing! She’s very tentative and does a great job. I have finally found my hairstylist.

I called to make an appointment at Roots Hair Salon and was able to get in within a day. This was perfect as I often forget to make an appointment until my hair is out of control and I can’t see waiting another week! The salon scheduled me to see Maryam. She cut my hair quickly but did an excellent job. Other salon personnel were friendly as well; it was a comfortable visit.

I go to college in LA County, but was visiting family in SD for the holidays and really wanted a haircut. I got the best cut I’ve ever gotten here! My stylist was Yolanda (she apparently books quickly, so I got lucky!) She did a great job listening to all of my needs and keeping my curly hair type in mind. I got a bob cut, which most stylists sort-​of decline to do, because my hair is so thick and curly. But Yolanda made it happen, and she taught me how to maintain it! I’ve never felt so good after a haircut.
Will drive all the way back down here from LA just to have her cut my hair again. Worth it.
