Yum! Went here by mistake actually, had Unilocaled another Indian restaurant to go to and for some reason ended up here. We walk in and the menu is a bit overwhelming for us whiteys who don’t know so much about Indian Food so I wanted to get chicken tikki marsala and was informed this place is vegetarian so we asked for some guidance on what to order and we were NOT disappointed. WOW, portions are big and very fairly priced. They have a case with a lot of delicious baked goods which we decided to try all of which were amazing. We tried a samosa, paneer dosa, paneer tiki marsala and it comes with naan bread. OMG sooo good, I will be back again and again to try new things on the menu. The cashier was so nice and friendly helping us by telling us about different items on the menu and in the pastry case. We were the only white people in there and holding up the line a big and I was so pleased with how friendly and patient and excited everyone was we were there trying new foods. Highly recommend.

We have been coming here for years and the quality of the food has deteriorated over time. The hot food is passable but anything in the shelf is stale and not fresh. We ordered shrikhand for my daughter and chapatis. The chapatis were soggy and rolled thick and the shrikhand tasted funky when I looked on the edges of the container it was lined with FUNGUS. ABSOLUTELYDISGUSTING!!! My poor baby had been eating it, I was so pissed off. The gobi manchurian was average(it use to be our favorite thing) and the aloo paratha was bland and had no spices to it. Will never go back and wouldn’t recommend anyone to go to this place, unless they make changes.

This is San Diego’s second Indian vegetarian restaurant, after Surati Farsan Mart, which is not that far away from here(it’s less than a mile away). I love Indian vegetarian restaurants and I wanted to see how this one compares to Surati Farsan Mart, which is my favorite Indian restaurant in all of San Diego. When I walked in, I really liked the interior of this restaurant. It looked modern, clean, and comfortable. They have 3 flat screen TVs hanging on the wall. One TV was on a news channel(CNN), another one was playing Bollywood music videos, and the other one was on a sports channel that was showing Cricket, a sport that the Indian people love so much. The menu is huge and it will be overwhelming I eventually ordered 4 items on the menu. They are: Vada Pav, Delhi Chaat, Onion Uttapam, and Mango Kulfi. 1. Vada Pav– This is also available in Surati Farsan Mart and it’s one of my favorites there. When I first took a bite, I was really surprised. Why? Because their Vada Pav is totally different from Surati Farsan Mart. It tasted so bland! While the Vada Pav at Surati Farsan Mart was delicious and full of unique flavors. So, I don’t recommend the Vada Pav here! 2. Delhi Chaat– This one is also available in Surati Farsan Mart. It tasted great but personally, I still prefer the one at Surati Farsan Mart. So, I do recommend ordering this one here but the one they have at Surati Farsan Mart is a lot better 3. Onion Uttapam– This was my first time trying this. It’s not available at Surati Farsan Mart so I give props to this restaurant for having an extensive and diverse menu. It’s a pancake like dish with toppings such as onions and various vegetables cooked in the batter. I liked this one. It came with various sauces such as coconut chutney for you to dip it with and it gave this dish a lot of awesome flavors. So, I do recommend this one 4. Mango Kulfi– I’ve never tried the kulfi at Surati Farsan Mart. Regarding the kulfi here, it was good. I liked the texture and the flavor was alright, not too sweet and not too bland. So, this restaurant is alright. It’s great because the menu is very large and offers plenty of various vegetarian dishes for you to try but I prefer Surati Farsan Mart because the flavor is a lot better

The food is just above par. I had ordered idli sambar. I found idli to be good but the sambar was extra spicy and was not smooth. I could literally«taste» the spice as I was eating. The sweet lassi was too watery. A good lassi should be smooth and think in my opinion. Ragda samosa was a bit better I would say. Nevertheless, the owner is awesome and the service is decent.

One of the almost decent Indian restaurants in San Diego. I have been a regular customer at Rasraj for a while. I could bear the slightly burnt biriyani, slightly sour raita, etc thinking it’s probably just something that slipped in by mistake. But, I had reached the end of my patience when I received a to go order of chilli panner with absolutely no paneer. It was just a serving of tomato paste with only onions in it. No longer a Rasraj customer.

This place is like the KFC version of vegetarian Indian fast food. I give 3 stars for their dessert selection and for their methi-mutter-malai curry. You pay before you eat/self service and the menu is really large with many, many items– so you have a lot to choose from. The food comes out relatively quickly(less than 10 minutes) and it makes me wonder what actually happens inside that kitchen as their menu is super extensive! Dosas here are questionable and not really at par with any minimal quality so maybe just stick to basic Indian street food and north Indian style curries. Parking is always great and available(unless it’s a major festival time in India). Awkward points: The overly casual(to the point of great annoyance) atmosphere of this place allows parents to let their kids throw tantrums and screech to their fill. It’s really painful to hear those screams… I’m sorry for saying this but it’s true. Rasraj is heavily patronized due to the cheap prices and also because it is in between two excellent Hindu temples, along the Indian grocery store. I suggest the desserts here, and my favourite is the Gulab Jamun. We also take their Methi Mutter Malai which is a peas, paneer and fenugreek white cream gravy curry that is mellow and goes down super easy with naan. Delectable. The taste of this dish is not always consistent here. The samosa chaats are tasty.(I feel they are quite oily however). We once took an Indo-Chinese sizzler which basically is your stir fried noodle stuff served on a super hot iron plate. It was horrible because the food was all burnt! My husband was put off by the weird smell coming off it, and so I do not suggest any sizzler whatsoever. I am not sure if their chutneys are all made in-house as they have a distinct bottled chutney flavour to them. This is definitely not health food but you can try it out once a while if you feel too peckish.

Legit, authentic quick service Vegetarian Indian food. I had the Navratan Lorna and Samosa Chat. Very tasty for a quick service place. Good prices and great portions. I was the only non-Indian customer. It’s popular with the local Indians. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Visited this place hoping to get some chaat. Ordered Delhi chaat which has mostly small papri like in bhel puri. M from Delhi and sorry to say it’s not any close to that Delhi style. There was more of dry spices instead of curd and khatti meethi chatni. Also ordered Hakka noodles which was good but little spicy. Mango lassi was too sour!!!

I would rather prefer surati Farnhan mart. Rasraj’s mini thali is actually ‘very tiny thali’. surati’s is bigger than that and better and lot of options. Not worth $ 7.55!!!

Authentic Indian food for cheap prices. Over the counter fast food with many options. They have snacks, desserts, chat, and dosa. A great place for a quick or small meal. A good description would be a hole in the wall place that is a great find. It’s vegetarian only!

Absolutely great! Friendly and helpful staff, nice location and delicious food! The Naan bread is directly made in heaven, the curries are amazing and the Samosas so tasty. Everything has lots of flavor and tastes really fresh. So many vegetarian options available. And don’t forget to try the Mango-Lassi! Highly recommended lunch and dinner location. Give it a try!

This place is amazing. They have a lot of options in food and it’s all fresh. I really like their curries in particular. The service is also very nice. They let you sample whichever sweets you want. I also ordered a veg biriyani one time and it comes with raita(yogurt). The biriyani was a little spicy so when I asked for more raita, the cashier was more than happy to offer it. He ended up giving me two more cups of raita which i thought was really nice. Overall I have a good experience when I come. Definitely worth checking out.

Waste of time. They no longer have more than half of the items on the menu. If you no longer serve those items, then take them off your menu. You don’t have printed menus, then making changes on the computer screen should be easy. Today we spent almost 10 minutes ordering our food. In the end we ate what we did not want. We will be sticking to Surati from now on. Food is not that good here anyways. Veg Kati Kabab was the the spiciest food I have eaten in past 20 years. With this much heat, you can’t taste anything else. :(

This is now my go-to place for a good Indian snack. I eat there 3 times a week(more if I don’t cook). I have pretty much tried all their dishes and I can safely say that a majority of them are very good. Following dishes never miss the mark. 1. Pav Bhaji and Samosa — excellent all the time 2. Dahi sev puri(my favourite, eat it fresh) 3. Their combo, thali, lunch special(go for the Bhindi, malai kofta, paneer or potato based sabji… they are a no-risk option… always good) 4. Chola Bhatura(little oily, but very tasty Bhatura) 5. Coffee, tea(takes time… and their Coffee is better than Tea) lassi is also Okay 6. Thums up and Limca — for the Indian who truly loves the desi soft drinks with their samosa 7. Kulfi and sweets — always good quality Special mention for their Gobi manchurian and veg manchurian. The taste is very Indian(not over spicy or tangy… and it comes sizzling!) Note: Everything here is eggless. Overall, very good food at very good prices. Visit the temple, do Indian grocery and eat here. You cannot feel more Indian than this in one place in San Diego.
