Playa grill is closed, loved the happy hour. Anybody know a good margarita bar that has happy hour.

Just tried to go there for happy hour today as they were always good, and there was a sign on their door stating that they had closed business for good. We were last there 3 weeks ago and there was no indication that they would close up shop. It’s a shame because their happy hour was good– the drinks and the food. Adiós, La Playa Grill.

One of our favorite places for happy hour. Just visited tonight and heard they are closing… so sad…

We tried several different tacos and was very unimpressed with all of them. It was nothing special about any of them. Worse, the place was very loud and smaller than I thought. The tables are very close together. Our waiter seemed very annoyed at every request and we didn’t see a single smile nor any small talk, you know, the kind that makes you feel welcome and comfortable. It just didn’t seem worth coming here at all.

If I could give a minus-1 I would… I had a group of friends meeting me for Happy Hour. We decided on Playa Grill because its close to CostCo. It just happened to be Cinco-de-Mayo. I got there early to get a table and was seated next to an open door. Next to the table was an open door. I guess they were expecting a big crowd that night because outside the door was a port-a-potty. I could SMELL the formaldehyde and«poop». What a wonderful experience! They also were serving 10 oz plastic cups and charging full(pint) price for draft beers($ 8.00). I was seated at a table for 4 even though I was expecting 5 more people. I wanted to move a table-for-2(right next to my table) to make my table bigger. No go, they wouldn’t let me do it. I texted all of my friends and we went over to Oggi’s and had a great Happy Hour! Playa Grill was once more a very disappointing experience. I will NEVER go back to this restaurant again…

Excellent happy hour with pitchers of margaritas and sangria. The shrimp tacos were delicious. I love the aioli they put on them. The ceviche was great too. Happy hour prices but not small portions. Very filling and very yummy!

Just left. A busser sat me at a small 2 top near the hostess bar(party of 1). Waited for 12 minutes and none of the staff acknowledged me(except the bus boy) or came by to even take my drink order. I felt invisible. So I walked out. Heading over to Oggi’s now. Hopefully I get decent service over there.

Fantastic service by our server Katie. She was knowledgable and friendly. The food was quick, fresh and tasty. Happy hour was a good value as well. The manager Vanessa was sweet and checked up on us to see if everything was good– which it definitely was! Thanks ladies. Great job!

Worst service ever — served appetizers without plates so we used our napkins — didn’t check on us forever — hostess and staff more interested in their social hour between them with their manager Brian who is laughable as a service oriented manager more of «what can I do» as no clue how to do his job which shows and is in his staff and servers — don’t come here — it’s a joke.

This place is alright because it is right across the street from my apartment. The 3 – 7 happy hour is fantastic but I suggest waiting til 4 for more waitresses to start working. I wish they served Budweiser but $ 3.00 draft Pacifico is alright by me. Come here with wife on Friday’s once in a blue moon but never get a chance to order the calamari, she don’t like it.(Hint: Bring your wife’s friend that’s not allergic to calamari; it’s worth it for the price) The pork sliders with pineapple is awesome. Sorry this review is so fractured but I had too many $ 3.00 Pacificos. Anyway, come on by; happy hour is worth your time.

Ate here for the 2nd time yesterday. The place was packed as the Womens Soccer game just ended at Qualcomm(which took us 45min to get to). The waiter was great, and even poured my beer in to a glass for me. The menu is brief, and does not have the same things as online. I ordered the 3 carne asada tacos. They ended up being small street tacos. It comes with rice an black or pinto beans. I got all beans and were ok, but I would prefer refried beans. I feel like a Mexican restaurant should have Dos XX Lager on draft. They only had amber on draft, so I had to get a bottle with a cold glass.

Playa Grill is in an unassuming parking lot, housing a Costco, Ikea, and a number of lesser restaurants and such. It doesn’t look like all that from the outside, but it is ALLTHAT(and chips!) Service has run from competent to fantastic. Haven’t been in a short while, but this joint is our«go to» when we are craving a good margarita(strawberry for her, and Cadillac(Eldorita) for me) and an excellent carnitas plate. The Carnitas– Slow-Roasted, All Natural Pork served with Fresh Cilantro, Onions, Sour Cream, Guacamole, Salsa Fresca, your choice of beans(Black or Pinto) and your choice of warm Flour or Corn Tortillas($ 15.95)…and worth every penny. The pork is seasoned to perfection, and they give it a quick kiss on the grill to crisp up the edges. The guacomole is fresh… everything is fresh… and seasoned. I get the black beans, they are done to perfection. Don’t bring a first date here, you will reek of garlic, onions and cilantro for the rest of the night… and you will be happy!

Honestly the food is not great but there are a select few things that are worth trying; shrimp tacos, quesadillas are ok… drinking here for happy hour is legit as all alcohol is ½ off!

Ah Playa grill. A good place for watching games, loud atmosphere, big patio. Food is not excellent, i had taquitos and they were OK. Margaritas super cheap during happy hour. Service slow but with a smile. Would i return? Probably not. This may be an isolated incident but the bathrooms needed attention. However, everyone was warm and friendly and their happy hour is super long.

Woohoo #500! What you must know is they have happy hour everyday 3 – 7 everyday! YESEVERYDAY! This is a definite plus, and their offerings aren’t too bad. I’ve had the nachos which were a good portion and pretty tasty. We’ve also been for Taco Tuesday which is OK, tacos are a bit small but you get what you pay for — they’re only $ 2. I’ve had the shrimp and fish which were good, nothing special. Their calamari is decent. They also have quesadillas, taquitos and asada fries. They have a good margarita selection. I’ve had a few of the specialty ones which were OK, I liked the El Cunado a spicy margarita and I also had the strawberry fields which is too sweet for me. They have outdoor seating and it can busy, people(like me!) like to take advantage of the happy hour. Good solid three star spot.

I’ve been here several times for happy hour and I’ve never been disappointed. HH is daily from 3 – 7, 50% off appetizers and alcohol. I love being able to find HH during the weekend! I’ve tried almost every appetizer, and like them all. I’ve never ordered food from the regular menu. I was in the area shopping with a friend and we needed a bite to eat so I suggested we come here. She was hesitant because she hadn’t heard good things but I talked her into it since it was HH. She was glad I talked her into it. We split the calamari & cheese quesadilla and a margarita pitcher. The chipotle sauce with the calamari was delicious, the quesadilla came with a generous side of guacamole and sour cream. Our server Hailey(I think), did a great job! She was very attentive and well liked by customers coming in. I love sitting on the patio, perfect on a summer day & there’s a fire pit for the cooler evenings.

Wow! Great food, awesome service, unbeatable prices! Happy hour from 3 – 7(I think it said daily) 50% off all appetizers and all alcohol! We ordered asada fries, Mary piglets, grilled lime shrimp, side of regular fries(enough for 4 people) 3 beers, and a burrito for $ 42! Definitely will return! Hope they never stop the happy hour!

My brother felt like getting a margarita and we didn’t want to drive to far from home so we found this place. The first thing I noticed when we walked in where the seats in the booths had tears in them where people constantly sit and slide out that probably bugged me more than it should have. We were sat in the patio area, its nice and small. They also have this round fireplace in the middle that sits ten people! The service was friendly and fast which is my personal preference. You get the usual complimentary chips and salsa, and we ordered calamari as an appetizer. It was very salty! We also came during happy hour which meant it was ½ off appetizer and alcoholic beverages. I didn’t like the food too much I’m sad to say, their tortilla soup looked and tasted like french onion and the two street tacos where tiny and greasy. Their ceviche was good and my brother liked his«chargerita» margarita but that was about it. Our bill was around $ 30 not bad, but felt like I could have got more bang for my buck at a hole in the wall mexican shop. But, we did come for a margarita and it wasn’t disappointing. Maybe we’ll come back for drinks and dessert?

I decided to try this place it was okay! Nothing special I would say. They serve you warm chips and salsa red and green salsa. The salsas were okay lacked flavor. I had the grilled fish tacos the rice and beans were good the tacos themselves they were okay not something I loved. Overall okay place I would not go out of my way to come here but wouldn’t oppose it.

Why 2 stars? First of all, I came here by my sister in laws suggestion and heard the taco Tuesday is a good deal. Based upon the suggestion, I took no caution to the wind. I was a bit apprehensive at first when I heard it was in a strip mall which was a red flag because strip Mall restaurants are often a breed on their own. Often they are chains. Here are my findings: No wait time, a + We were seated outside where it was cold, so we Asked a bus boy if he could turn on the heat lamps… Completely forgot about us. Menu that were given had food on it; Waitress name Edith took our drink orders and came Back 5 minutes later with two drinks instead of three. She forgot my order. Next, street taco menu, variety of flavors a plus and for $ 2.00 cannot beat that. Portion is a little small, ordered the shrimp with chipotle sauce, a bit salty and the white fish with guacamole was flavorful. The wait for our food was Long, about 25 Minutes and we had to flag Down our waitress to check when we would get the food and not only that we Had no service throughout dinner unless we were flagging our waitress down. The overall experience I found, I enjoyed being with my girlfriends, however, the $ 2.00 tacos will not have me returning back especially the service that barley existed.
