Probably pay $ 1 more per item than taco shops that aren’t in Carmel Valley. I had three rolled tacos and they are very skinny, and not a lot of cheese. I guess they are paying for an expensive lease in this area that they have to overcharge & cut corners. But when you’re hungry… it’ll do. CASHONLY!

Stopped by to pick up breakfast this weekend and I was disappointed by the lack of vegetarian options on the menu. Usually, you can find a veggie burrito somewhere on the menu at Mexican shops but not here. Instead, I had to create a vegetarian breakfast burrito for my boyfriend by ordering the Big Burrito with no bacon. It seems rather silly that this meatless burrito would cost the same as one with bacon and $ 7 for eggs, cheese and potatoes is a bit ridiculous, especially considering the smaller than usual size. My California burrito cost about the same but at least included steak, albeit even the steak seemed rather skimpy. Everything tasted fine but for the price, I expect more. I think I’d rather stick to Kotija’s for burritos in the future.

Nico’s has always been the pricey neighborhood taco shop. But we do buy from them as it is the closest one near us. Giving it a 2-star rating for the service. I just went to buy to-go and I ordered a beef tostada; a pollo asada taco and a carne fajita burrito. I clearly heard the cashier told the kitchen: «polla fajita burrito»; so I immediately checked with her again — «I ordered a Carne asada fajita burrito» «Yes, that’s right.» — was the reply from the cashier. Sure enough, when I came home and took a bite of my supposedly«Carne Fajita burrito» — all I saw were chicken, it’s a freaking polla asada fajita!!! *sure, I could’ve open the burrito at the shop and make sure it was right. But how often do you open your burrito to double check the ingredients inside are correct? I am usually whatever when the food order was incorrect, but if I caught a possible mistake and already double checked with you to try to avoid it; and it was still wrong. You are not respecting me as a customer and shows me that the you and your employees don’t care enough to make sure they are making the correct food item. Very very disappointed.

The name is «taco shop» right? Sounds authentic to me, but right when you pull up into the lot, you know it just may not be. One taste of the taco and that thought is confirmed. Price: Look to spend about $ 4 – 5 per taco, and $ 10 for a full meal. Parking: large lot Food: I just got a single fish taco which was almost $ 5. It was wayyy too covered in dressing to even start to taste legit. It was edible, but I’ve had a lot better for under half the price. The place wasn’t very clean either and made me feel a tad uncomfortable. Notes: the restrooms are outside and dirty. You need a key. CASHONLY.

Nice area, expensive, dumpy, and CASHONLY. This façade might fool the IRS, but it’s not fooling anyone else. Came in for a quick lunch and waited quite a while just to place my order. While the line wasn’t too long, it did consist of the area’s receptionists picking up large orders from the nearby office buildings. Besides the wait, I noticed right away that this place is expensive. Because of the crookedness of the numbers representing the current price(Which reminded me of a gas station’s marque), I knew something shady was going on. Despite all these red flags it always comes down to the food itself. I ordered a simple beef burrito and a drink. When my Beef Burrito was ready it was long and skinny. Think of a churro or extra large flautas or even perhaps one of those mini baseball bats the sell at Padres games. The insides were thin too. So basically this was a soft extra long taquito. Why though? The taste was okay, but I really wasn’t looking to eat a large tortilla rolled up with a with Beef Spread in the middle. Maybe they were low on Beef and this was their workaround? Looking at Ted S’ experience and picture he got a burrito that was micro-machine sized. So burrito consistency is definitely an issue here. So thumbs down for Nico’s. Do yourself a favor and take a small drive to Porkyland. Same price, tremendous quality. Tip Trish S gave Nico’s three stars so you KNOW it’s bad… :)

I ordered the big breakfast burrito which comes with eggs, bacon, cheese. I asked to substitute bacon for steak, when i got the receipt she charged me 3.29 just to substitute one meat for another!

I would give this place 0 stars if possible. Got a taco and burrito took one bite of each and tossed them where they belong! THETRASH! The meat is just as tasteless and shitty as all the reviews day. I was in a rush, and will never make the mistake of eating at this outhouse disguised as a taco shop again.

Average taco shop that banks on convenience and location based on proximity to local businesses. This place makes some decent carne asada and has decent portions but doesn’t really wow you with anything. They recently underwent a bit of a renovation which makes the place a bit more appealing. Overall, not the greatest taco shop in the world but it is one of the only options in the area and will do in a pinch. Pros– Location Decent food Outside seating Newly renovated Cons– Average service Parking A bit pricey No wow factor that keeps you coming back

Pretty bad, carne asada wasn’t bad but… No wonder they have high prices, they wouldn’t survive otherwise. Watered down bottles of hot sauce. Basically half water half hot sauce. Wooden dowels still stuck in my beef tacos from when they were being fried. Water cup had a hair on the lip. To be honest, I feel like this place could be better, but the management is terrible. Cooks should be ashamed of themselves. Cutting corners like putting water in the hot sauce is just not something you should do to a Mexican restaurant. You have to be born in a bloody cave if you think people won’t notice that. Absolute disgrace to Mexican cuisine.

Had the carne asada burrito and it was really good! The flour tortilla was authentic and the meat was flavorful. The price is very decent for the size and I recommend it for lunch!

A bit pricey but man! That Machca Burrito though! Where’s the drooling emoji??! Nicos is my favorite to go to when I’m craving burritos. When I have cash on me that is… The only time I take cash out of the bank is to go to Nicos… Haha

Don’t like. Been here more than once and food has been sad. Burritos fall apart and leak it’s pointless. Go somewhere else. There’s better quality Mexican places than this place

The worst California burrito I’ve ever had! Seriously! First off, there are big chunks of flavorless meat(can’t even call it carne asada) and big potatoes that you can obviously tell were frozen not too long ago. And not to mention, the only other thing in the burrito is sour cream? So you’re going to give me flavorless meat, frozen potatoes and sour cream and call it a California burrito for $ 8. Really? What a shame. And for San Diego standards too… Trust me when I say, go somewhere else if you’re craving a decent California burrito. You’ll be left throwing it away after a couple bites if you don’t take my advice.

I popped in to pick up a burrito for my son this am. Their breakfast burritos are $ 8. A bit much and they aren’t monster burritos either. The eggs were nice, had ham and cheese. He enjoyed it but not the best we’ve tried and way more expensive than usual prices. They ONLY take CASH so don’t get caught with only your debit card. The girl was at the counter put about .90 in for me since I only had 7 $ and they wouldn’t take my card. Which was very sweet of her. Great service.

One of my favorite Mexican quick easy restaurants. I usually go with a carne asada burrito which contains guacamole, pico de gallo, and juicy carne asada meat. The burrito portions are bigger then most and the prices are very costs friendly. I love refried beans as they contain loads of cheese and have great flavor. Can’t wait to come back!

I’ve been to San Diego many times and have never tried the California burrito. So imagine my excitement when I saw it on the menu! Good thing I asked what was in it and the cashier said it’s only meat, cheese, and potatoes. I asked, where are the French fries? She said she can add it for an additional charge. So the California burrito isn’t even a California burrito! Also, this joint is on the pricier end, each burrito costs around 8 – 9 dollars.

I have to admit, California burrito is just a meat and potatoes burrito, not a California burrito! Pricey too! For clarification, a California uses carne asada(marinated beef), French fries, etc… They used beef and cut up potatoes, which tasted ok, but not a Cali burrito!

Great Street Taco’s. My second favorite taco joint in the abundant San Diego smörgåsbord of the«taco temporal zone», right next to Rockin Lobsters, and that’s good company. Their Carne Asada Taco’s are a great value and tasty. The tomatio salsa is also a winner. The ambiance could improve a bit, bring on the mariachis. And they don’t take credit cards, seriously? But if you got the cash, this Taco is for you…

The only true fast Mexican food in delmartianville. And boy does this place capitalize on it! From the rude service to the $ 9 bean and cheese burrito to cash only. The positive, it’s clean, the food is good.

Very much a «meh» sort of spot. I read some of the reviews on Unilocal but was starving so opted to go for just one lonely fish taco for $ 3.65 with tax. I didn’t expect much but got less. The fish is def frozen fish sticks that are very very small. I got two and a half of these in the taco. I am perplexed at the half one that made it in. Do they portion it this way, did I get«lucky?» Well I did not eat that part because it was super burnt. The taco as a whole was alright. A ton of veggies and really really sub par fish. I hate to do this but I will say del taco makes a better fish taco and at a better price which makes this pretty dire. They were fast with my to go order and as I waited I could not help but notice how a lot of the tables were dirty. It is a small place so this says a ton. Overall I would give this place a pass. They may have to pay high rent or whatever but that is not an excuse for the really sub par taco that was served to me. I mean they have taco in their name one would think it would be a bit better.
