We are foreign to San Diego and while visiting, we did some shopping and decided to stop by Narraya, because we love Thai food. This Thai place is amazing! I have been to so many and this is definitely in my top 3. You can choose a table or to sit on the floor. The food was exquisite and cheap. I definitely would give two thumbs up. :)

Five stars for FOOD, AMBIANCE and SERVICE! I came here for dinner with two friends. We sat in the traditional seating area, which came to our surprise that there was comfortable leg room! Everything about the décor was well thought out and put together. Food: Mermaid appetizers: nicely crunchy, filling was well-balanced Tom Kah: creamy with yummy lemongrass flavor… wish the pot was larger Pad Thai Noodles: can’t go wrong there Pla Pae Sa 15:(sole-fillet fish) this was my absolute favorite of the night. Fish was so juicy, the broth could have been another soup! The flavors were so well-balanced with spiciness and sweetness. I submerged my rice in it just to drink all the broth Dessert –Taro in coconut milk: I love taro and if you do, this dessert is perfect! definitely would come here again!

Came here last night with a big group of friends to celebrate a going away. I have to stay, I had been hesitant to leave my favorite Thai food place in La Mesa and venture out to something new. But boy was I glad I came here. The seating is very unique to American-Thai restaurants. Most of the party ordered pad-thai and loved it. I personally ordered yellow vegetable curry and was not disappointed. The curry was fantastic, just the perfect amount of spice and sweetness. If you check in on Unilocal, you receive a free soft drink or Thai tea… of course I went for the Thai tea! I would definitely return. I LOVED it. Great for groups and fun!!!

Schade.

The best thai food in San Diego. Been going here for years and no one else even compares to their Tom Yum with tofu and veggies. Also if you check in on here you can get a complimentary Thai tea. They give you the option to sit in the traditional thai seating which enhances, I think, the experience at Narraya Thai. The wait staff is always SUPER friendly and attentive. Have never had an issue with service here. I recommend the Panang curry, which is a sweet curry. The pad thai which is a classic and probably the most ordered thing on the menu, for good reason. The see eu noodles are a wide rice noodle and very tasty!

I had passed this place dozens of times without ever noticing it. But, I really loved the golden décor once inside and the staff is very friendly. My buddy and I shared a shrimp pad thai which was delicious, the noodles were perfect and not clumped together. We also shared the pumpkin curry and brown rice. The pumpkin was tender but not mushy. Check-in and get a free thai tea! YEAH UnilocalERS!!!

Unilocal let us down. Which is rare. We were in San Diego and looking for a good Thai restaurant. Ordered the half chicken. Three quarter chicken skin, one quarter meat(somewhere i think). Since it’s a one time visit, there may have been extenuating circumstances. Maybe. Otherwise it’s hard to figure it’s Unilocal rank.

So I went here to have Easter dinner with my kids. I like the traditional floor seating(make reservations due to limited seating) and I love how there’s actually room underneath the tables for your legs(so you don’t have to keep your legs crossed nor sit on them) to dangle around in. The food is good, I can’t say they’re the real deal authentic but the food is definitely great. I had their pumpkin curry which was great and has a sweeter kick to it. Their chicken satay was pretty good although in my opinion I’ve had better peanut sauce. Their FBI(fried banana wrapped in egg roll wrapper and a scoop of coconut ice cream) was good as well. This place is definitely«white people friendly» haha. I think price wise, it was up there but hey it’s Easter and its for my kids so that’s okay. I will come back here again. My kids say they will be back too!

I had been on the hunt for authentic Thai food in the San Diego area for a few months. I finally found it! Narrya offers a great menu selection. They also have happy hour! I ordered the Tom Kha soup and beef Pad See Ew noodles. The soup was extremely flavorful and rich. The Pad See Ew had a great flavor also, although the beef was a little on the chewy side. I ordered a 6 on the spicy scale. If you’re like me and like spicy food, you can definitely go higher on the scale. I ended up piling on extra chili sauce after. Overall, I will be returning. :)

This has been my wife and my valentine ritual or years now. Always good food, in a a nice environment with friendly staff. Curries are always flavorful with the right amount of kick. But today the pork was a bit dry and the service was hurried. They brought the food just minutes after apps so by the time we got to the curry and noodles they were coldish. They are borderline three stars but i still give four stars based on past experience.

Found Narraya on Unilocal while in PB and decided to stop by for dinner with my out-of-town friend. Although the restaurant seemed fairly busy, we were quickly seated in the the sunken seating area. We loved the ambiance of the area, which from afar looks like you are sitting on the group while in truth you are sitting at a regular table. I’ve been to many Thai restaurants and have never had this unique experience. Quick side note: if you choose to sit in this room, you have to remove your shoes. Our waitress explained that if we posted a Unilocal review, we could get a free order of vegetarian curry puffs. So, being the devoted Unilocaler that I am, I hopped right on my phone to leave the review. The curry puffs were delightful! Perfectly seasoned potatoes in a flaky crust… mmmmm! I ordered my usual Thai dish, chicken pad see ew, and it was great! The large portion left me with enough for two days of leftovers! I look forward to returning with my boyfriend!

Nayarra is the 3rd piece my favorite Thai Restaurants who also own Siam Nara in Mira Mesa and Amarin Thai in Hillcrest. This location is across the street from PB Bar & Grill and a close walk from a friends. I dropped in for lunch and ordered a thai red curry with chicken. It came with a soup, salad, rice, and the curry all for $ 7.95! Deal is amazing, food was on point, and the décor inside is very nice. No complaints with anything.

One of the nicest looking Thai restaurants I had ever gone to. Decoration A+ Atmosphere A+ Service A Food A Price B Everything we ordered was good(sorry I cant remember exactly what it was.) Server came by very frequently to ask if we were ok and to take our dishes away. I’d definitely come back again and try something new.

I love Narraya! The Thai food tastes pretty legit, and not at all the greasy feeling that you sometimes get from Thai restaurants. They have a sister restaurant too, called Amarin Thai in Hillcrest. Just as good! We had the Pumpkin Curry, which was super cool because they actually bring it out in a heating bowl/plate/holder? Not gonna lie though, I was pretty scared that the fire might burn me. There was also the famous Tom Yum Soup, which was rich, clear, and absolutely delicious. I also recommend the Honey Wine too! What I LOVED most about this place, however, was the authenticity and the environment of this place. It had very traditional Thai decorations, and a very cozy feeling. I kind of felt like I was in a temple when I walked in. Plus, I learned something amazing from this restaurant: You know how you always see those people on TV sitting down at a low table as if they’re kneeling for the whole meal, and you wonder to yourself how the heck can they do that for an hour? Well, you’ll just have to find out how they do it when you go!

Food was okay. My chicken red curry dish was a little on the sweet side – even though I ordered the spicy level of 8. Service was excellent — service with a smile, even when dealing with a rowdy crowd! They even asked if we would kindly let them know if we would like to split the tab a certain way. Most restaurants don’t do that!

Based on the epic Unilocal reviews, I prepared myself to have an mind-blowingly awesome Thai meal, complete with fireworks and a satisfying ending. Wait, what? I felt awkward walking in for lunch — a few people were already there, their conversation easily overheard throughout the restaurant. I tried not to mind, focusing on the menu… but. Yes. It totally didn’t help when a couple straight out of Jersey Shore barged in, loudly bitching the whole meal and wanting special treatment(aka their own dining room); oh, PB, you’ve really outdone yourself. The water is quickly refilled, the decorations fancy, the food nicely spiced, and the meat kinda… tough. Huh? Yes, this place is overrated.

What’s the big deal with this place? Unilocalers seem to have a HUGE hard-on for it. But then again, I like to judge places simply based on food/service and not so much décor. They have a traditional seating area which is pretty cool — except it’s not really traditional. You can put your legs down into the hole of the table so it’s not really traditional. Their food is only A-Ok. That is — if I were rating on food alone, it’d be 3 stars. It was nothing special, it tasted like typical Thai food in San Diego, to be honest. It was pricer than typical Thai food and their parking lot is strange. It requires you to pay but the ticket can be validated… after you pay? Do you get your money back? Odd. There weren’t really instructions about it. Service SUCKS. So badly. It was so bad that we had to grab a pitcher of water from the side in order to refill our own glasses of water.

The manager contacted me regarding my review and offered a $ 20 gift certificate to try Narraya again. So, we went back and I dared to order the soup again. And this time, everything went very smoothly. We also ordered the Iron Steak Volcano and Crystal Noodles with Chicken — both were good. I accidentally ruined my meal by adding a tasty-looking hot sauce to my food, but it turned out to be fish sauce based and was absolutely disgusting. But that was my fault, and people who like fish sauce would probably love it. Overall, the food is good. And I really appreciate the manager’s effort to make sure their customers are happy.
