So here’s the deal. It’s an outdated clubhouse pub on an outdated hotel/resort/golf course. I overheard the staff chit-chatting about the upcoming remodel/rennovation project on the property, so it may be upgraded by the time you go, dear reader. The barstools are wicker, which IMMEDIATELY gives a place a very«certain» look. You are not going to want to bring someone here whom you want to impress. All of that aside, I was here alone on business and wandered in because I was starving, and really didn’t care about the décor. The bartender was very friendly and eager to serve me, and the view was nice. It was happy hour(4 – 7 p.m.) and prices were literally HALF their usual. I ordered the potstickers(good, but seemed like nothing more than the frozen grocery store variety) and I also got the nachos with beef, hold the beans. The nachos were some of the best pub nachos I’ve ever had. They came with both the stadium-style liquid cheese AND melty shredded cheese. Fresh onions and tomatoes, deliciously seasoned meat, and generous dollops of salsa, guac, and sour cream. Halfway through the plate, I thought, why are these so *unusually* good? I looked down to see tiny flecks of CUCUMBER all over the pile.(Cucumber!!!) Did someone make a mistake and intend to sprinkle jalopeños instead? Regardless, it was spectacular. I couldn’t really taste them, and yet the whole plate just tasted… «fresh.» So, whether it was a an accident or a stroke of genius I’ll never know, but my mouth was HAPPY. I also had a pint of Karl Strauss Red Trolley Ale and overall, an excellent experience despite the lackluster interior design. Thanks to Mulligan’s for taking care of this weary traveler. I hope your remodel is worthy of your friendly service and delicious nachos.

I ate here while staying at the Doubletree this restaurant is part of for a business trip. My company gave us a huge budget for dinner so I literally ordered most everything on the menu over the 2 nights I ate here. Overall, the food is mediocre, some things are good and some things aren’t. Nothing was amazing. The portions are very, very generous though especially for the price. The best deal is their happy hour from 5−7pm, where many things on the menu are half price, including most appetizers, the clam chowder, the house cheeseburger, and a large Caesar salad. Here is my review of everything I tried: Burger — very good, huge portion, fresh bun and toppings. Meat patty is just OK. Comes with huge serving of fries, onion rings, fruit, or salad too and a pickle. Onion rings and fries are solid. Fruit salad is like a supermarket/Costco type. Pulled Pork Sandwich — very good, pork was delicious and BBQ sauce good too. Comes with the fries. Cobb salad — good. Exactly what you’d expect, plenty of food. Caesar salad — very good, nothing special but nice. Clam chowder — surprisingly good! Tons of clams. Served in a huge bowl, amazing for $ 5 during happy hour! French Onion Soup — not good. Soup was thick instead of a light broth, very salty too. Seared Ahi Salad — good. The ahi is a very generous piece and was pretty good. The salad is good but the dressing was kind of meh. Nachos — not bad. The nacho cheese is the fake saucy stuff, which is a major turn off for me though. Everything else on them was fine though. Shrimp Cocktail — very good, 6 jumbo shrimp is very generous. Buffalo Chicken Wings — excellent, definitely tastes like homemade sauce not your typical buffalo sauce. Pretty spicy(and I like really spicy, so avoid if you don’t!) and nice and crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Definitely recommend. Chicken Potstickers — not very good. Cooked well, but not great or authentic, probably from a frozen bag. Salmon Dinner — Pretty good, delicious mashed potatoes and nice variety of grilled veggies. Salmon was standard, not an amazing fresh filet though. Steak and Frittes Dinner — good but very expensive for what you get, steak was juicy and nice portion, cooked well. Served with the usual fries. If it were half the price I’d recommend it. Margherita Pizza — not good. Crust was not crispy, too thick for this style. Loaded with pounds of mozzarella, little of anything else… definitely not the thing to get here. Doubletree Cookie Sundae — good, very yummy vanilla gelato. And of course delicious Doubletree cookies! Cheesecake — not good. Definitely not homemade, very thick. Overall, I doubt I will be back, there is much better food in SD to be eaten! But if you’re stuck in this hotel, you should be able to get by, especially during happy hour which is priced very well! You won’t leave hungry.

Great place for a casual evening. I’ve eaten there many times and have never been disappointed. Great views and outdoor tables. Recently had steak and fries. The steak was crisp on the outside and rare and tender on the inside. The roasted asaparagus was divine They also do nices touches, like sprinkling the fries with chopped green onions. Their nachos are super. The silverware and napkins are classy. The service is very attentive.

Mulligan’s is a decent place to grab a drink and some bar food when you are staying at the Doubletree and don’t feel like adventuring beyond the hotel grounds. The drinks are not terribly overpriced. The food is fair and they have a pretty decent variety of things to choose from. I do really enjoy the goat cheese dip; it is by far my favorite menu item. And they make a nice presentation with the caesar salad. The service is always friendly.

Mulligan’s is a part of the Doubletree Golf Resort and while there is nothing outstanding about it, it is a decent place to commiserate about your most recent round of golf. The highlights include a full bar, a few drafts, a couple TV’s, a variety of menu items and the obligatory view of the golf course. The drinks tend to run a little on the high side so it definitely wouldn’t be a place to waste a lot of time. But to grab a quick one and listen to people lie about their scores… it’s not that bad.
