When traveling alone, I avoid hotel bars(it gets tiresome saying, «I just want a drink» & «I’m not interested»). BUT, when with my husband, he always wants to stop and get a night cap. This past weekend, stopped by with friends. It certainly has a dated/loungey feel. There’s a pool table, tvs playing sports, Club chairs & leather couches. We were able to grab chairs & a couch in the corner for a couple rounds of drinks. I usually will get a glass of wine, but this past weekend tried their Cosmo Lite. It was good, but pricey. The chairs/couches are comfy and not conducive for waking up. Plus, they delivered a bowl of house made chips without asking(they were a bit soggy). But all make for a good spot for a night cap. Final Note: I’ve always had good service here. Staff has been friendly and fast with the drinks.

Waited 45 minutes for our food and it never came. We are here for a conference, one would think that they would have more than one server in this place. When we spoke with the waitress about the situation, she provided no apologies and was even defensive about all the«conference people» coming in all at the same time. Well duh! It’s lunchtime…

Our experience was made 10 times better by the staff here. Our server was very helpful and nice! We came here to celebrate my friends 21st birthday. My friend wanted to to try different types of cocktails and the servers recommended all sorts of drinks. She was very personable and made our experience way more enjoyable. We will definitely come back just for the staff! They had a special Mai Tai that tastes more like a mojito than the regular ones. They also gave the birthday girl a cupcake vodka shot so that was greatly appreciated.

My BFF and I came here to celebrate our 25th Friendiversary. :) She requested«some place with wine and comfy chairs» and I really wanted to shoot pool. It was a Tuesday night and not crowded at all. I hate to give this place 5 stars because I don’t want everyone swarming my new favorite hang out! This is a hotel bar. It –feels– like a hotel bar. Hotel bars are notorious for having comfy chairs because nobody wants to get off a plane and immediately sit at some uncomfortable high-top. If you like white linen tablecloths, servers who recite the specials as if Shakespeare penned them, and being crammed into a chair less than a body width from the neighboring table, then you won’t like it here. If you like drinking cocktails and watching sports in your living room, then this is the place for you. The patio is lovely with many comfy chairs and a nice fire pit. The 2 pool tables in the back take quarters and are in GREAT shape, with straight cues and a solid block of chalk. The place is full of flat screens showing sports. There were some suits sitting around talking business, a few lone guys on laptops, and the bar appeared full of mostly locals maybe. I can’t say much about the service or the food because we only ordered a bottle of wine and a dessert. But the bartenders smiled and were friendly and the apple cobbler was ah-mazing. We plan on eating here next time, and yes, there will definitely be a next time because I lost 2 – 1 at pool.

Shout out to Blake!!! Such an amazing bartender he was suave, debonair, had pizazz and flair! He served my boyfriend and I some of the best drinks I’ve ever had. He also utilized the counter space in front of us to make his drinks! So fun to watch him work! As for the bar itself… well given the great caliber of bartender they hire, I can’t really say I have a complaint about the place… maybe the fact that someone who I can only assume was the manager was hovering around at the end of the night getting in blakes way… I just wanted to tell him to shoo! And smack him with my broom. Finally…I love any bar that I can get totally plastered and then meander right back up to my hotel room with my darling boyfriend. I love him and this bar so much.

I love the atmosphere here it’s always calm and relaxing. The quesadilla appetizer they have here is to die for! Drinks are on the pricier side and they don’t have a blender): so piña coladas will be shaken… I enjoy Dino(the bartender). He’s super friendly and a great person to talk to!

I love coming to Michaels for cocktail hr and great appetizers. Dino is a great bartender and full of laughs! The Hyatt is a beautiful hotel. But definitely try the bar here and play a game of pool. Really inviting atmosphere!

I’ve frequented Michael’s often over a few years now, mainly because it was one of the very bars in the UTC area when you want a drink after 10pm. I have always enjoyed their pool table area and their very spacious lounge. There are always comfortable chairs and sofas available, and it’s always very calm and classy. I really like its low-key, quiet and chic vibe for a one-on-one cocktail. Their raspberry lemon drop is my favorite, and they also have a blueberry cosmopolitan which is also very delicious. Even though the crowd tends me a bit older and sophisticated(the few times I’ve gone) I have always enjoyed myself and gotten very good service. Definitely a chill place to check out for a quote drinking evening.

Food is decent; a nice place to relax. Service was slow and she seemed like we were bothering her — did not help us for over 20 minuets at one point.

Good for happy hour or late night. Mostly conventions. Needs a renovation for sure. Great restaurants across the driveway. Keep it simple.

I was staying at the Hyatt and Michaels Lounge is located inside the hotel so that was awesome! This bar was so fun, they have many varieties of cigars(Which my boyfriend lovedd) and their bloody mary is sooooo savery!!! I loved sitting outside by the fire, very cozy, relaxing and romantic. I can’t wait to come back!!!

No reason to come here unless you are staying at the hotel. Parking is a nightmare, the service is super slow, and the food is just ok/overpriced hotel food. Go somewhere else if you can. Did I mention service was super slow?

Had a great time at Michaels lounge! Blake, our bartender, was kind, generous, fun and most importantly made amazing drinks! Definitely recommend this lounge as a place to grab great drinks and receive great service.

Came here yesterday for happy hour. I had a Cosmo and my boyfriend had a manhattan… The drinks were pretty good but it took a long time for them to be delivered even though there was close to no one there. The wings were soooo good and the quesadilla was pretty good too. Overall I’ll give it 3 stars because the food was good but it was way too overpriced and trulucks has a way better HH and much better prices and quality for drinks and food. Probably advise people to walk across the way to trulucks.

This is the only bar in the La Jolla area, so if you want a cocktail, this is your only choice(and maybe Marriott). The mixed drinks are overpriced though. And the beer selection is abysmal. If price is not a issue, it’s a great place to lounge, have drinks, some quesadillas, maybe play pool. The outside area is great to smoke or drink a beer, listen to music, or meet new people.

It’s a hotel bar/lounge that works for what it is. Yes it’s pricey but it’s relaxing to have a glass of wine after a hard day drinking.

Michael’s has a decent happy hour with a rather sparse isting of wines and beers available. We tried the flatbread which I would not advise. The house red cabernet is better than the Strong Cab and is a good buy. Service is ok and this place definitely benefits from being open more than 5 hours per night, unlike neighboring Truluck’s and Flemings s.

I was feeling sorry for myself yesterday and decided to arrive about 45 minutes prior to my 5pm Truluck’s reservation to sit in the bar, only to find that the restaurant was not yet open. So, I meandered across the street to the Hyatt where I found Michael’s Lounge waiting for me. On a Sunday afternoon, I found Michael’s to be a breath of fresh air. It was quiet, low key, and the bar staff were extremely affable and hospitable. Just the type of atmosphere I was after. I decided to start with their Diamond Raspberry Lemon Drop martini. Such a lovely cool libation for a wretched, sweltering day. Refreshing to say the least, and absolutely delicious(and pretty). Impressed, I decided to explore the cocktail menu further and opted for the Big Blue, a blueberry-infused vodka construction. Again, near perfection in a glass. The bartender taking care of me was such a delight, and she kept me company the entire time. The manager even came out and introduced himself and made me feel welcome. Excellent service. After two drinks, my friend arrived for our dinner reservation and I had to skedaddle. That was probably a good thing because I would have likely tried everything on Michael’s cocktail menu, inevitably being left in a situation where I would be taking a cab home. :) I’m thankful I found this lovely little oasis in the Hyatt. I’ll definitely be back.

Happy Hour is until 7p. Draft beers are $ 4.50 — I ended up getting a stella. The bartender is cool! I forgot to get his name, unfortunately. There were several appys available, but I was only able to consume the chips and salsa since I had eaten prior to coming to the Lounge. Surprisingly, this is a pretty legit place. Nice ambiance, not crowded, and casual. Sure the décor may look old school money, but it works. Lots of room/space with TVs surrounding the bar area. Outside patio out front. You may meet some interesting characters. The dude next to us says«I’m a doctor.» Okkkkkkk… I so wanted to ask«doctor», «What about your friend?» [hubba hubba = EYECANDY] So doctors come here for happy hour??? Inconspicuous lounge — me likes!!! More happy hours here!!! Note: Self park is 2 hours free with validation.
