The service here sucks!!! I didn’t really like having to eat a at grocery store but on the bright side I did pick up some veggies for the week. The Phở was yummy and cheap my husband got a chicken dish for my son said«it’s ok» I would go back but not for the service.

I’ve been going here since I was a child. The atmosphere is busy and smells strongly of fish, but of course since they have fresh fish in the back you would expect no less. Their produce is cheaper than the other Asian markets around Mira Mesa like Hmart, Seafood City, and Vinh Hung. I always buy my Asian vegetables here and meat from the butcher if I can. They also have Asian cafeteria on the left side of the store with the best greasy fixes you can find for reasonable prices.

Good bait store. I buy mackerel or Bonita, and use it for bait to catch bigger fishes.

Love this place, go here to buy cheap meat and asian chips and candy! Unfortunately 3 stars for the language barrier, the employees don’t really understand what you’re saying, and aren’t helpful to help you find what you’re looking for.

Great spot for Ph and egg rolls. There are lot of places that serve Vietnamese food but this is one of the better ones. Waiters are attentive and fast and the quality of the food is above average.

I had the banh mi thit nuong sandwich today and was impressed. Fresh veggies and the pickled carrot and daikon have a great flavor. They do not skimp on the meat like some other banh mi places and the pork was cooked perfectly with no grisly sections. At $ 3.75, you can’t beat it. But Bale French Sandwiches across the parking lot has better selection and bread.

This for their a-la-carte to-go menu only. Upon arrival you are greeted by a wide colorful selection of food from multiple choices of noodles, meats, vegetables, and seafood. Probably best selection in the Mira Mesa area. Why the 2 stars?!? Cause most of it is tasteless! Now if your health conscious and are watching your sodium intake, then I very highly recommend this place. I don’t know how management chooses their servers, either they are all related or close friends of one another but the elderly servers only communicate with hand gestures and speechless facial expressions unless you speak their native language. As for price, I find it on the higher side as the 3 entrée is $ 7 while the 2 entrée is $ 6. I had the chow fun noodles, deep fried shrimp, green beans and pork spare ribs. Chow fun had too much sprouts and overall no seasoning. Fried shrimp was okay but lacked slight garlic taste as what i’m use to at other places. Green beans was totally bland. Pork spare ribs had good flavor but could be more tender. Tried this place couple of other times in the past and was basically the same consistent experience each time. What boggles me is that they share the same kitchen as the Phở Restaurant behind them where the food is delicious! So I don’t understand the difference in food quality coming out of the same kitchen. I will give the fact that this place is conveniently located inside an Asian grocery that I shop a lot at and there’s hardly a line or long wait.

Five stars because this Asian grocery fulfills most of my needs for Asian food ingredients. I’m from south east Asia and I find this place have good selections of Asian herbs, veggies, fruits, spices, sauces, and tons of fresh seafood! They also have various meat selection include with the organs(chicken feet, heart, liver, gizzard, pork ears, etc) for extreme Asian food lovers. Most of the staff barely speak English so sometimes they appear like they aren’t polite but I have no problem with that.

I have to say this is my favorite go to Asian store. Great prices and great customer service. I love their fresh meats and produce. They have a sit down restaurant inside the store that has great food. You should also try their take-out food located in the store. A little pricey, but great taste.

Seafood section staff extremely rude to customers, customer asking for extra ice because the merchandise suppose to be refrigerated seems room temperature. Staff can provide ice or deny with reason in a nice manner, instead, staff simple yell at the customer by saying«No! Get away!»(With finger pointing to the exit) Staff should be glad that customer not throwing the merchandise to staff’s face.

Just another mini asian supermarket for your asian food needs. Mainly Vietnamese and Chinese products. They have a pretty good selection of veggies, meats, and other things. They usually have most of the items I need when I’m cooking an asian dish. They also have a fast food section where you can buy to-go combos for under $ 10. They have stuff such as chow mein, rice noodles, fried rice, fried shrimp, etc etc. Decent little place to shop. Plentiful of parking spaces.

The place is not as crowded as it once was before H-Mart opened, and that’s probably a good thing for shoppers who don’t like crowds. I stopped by the other day to pick up some stuff, and went by the fresh fish area. I noticed a sign that read«Tilapia» $ 4.99/lb, under a tank of live fish. Only problem was the fish in the tank were Catfish, not Tilapia. So know your fish by sight, and you should be fine. Unless you think catfish tastes like tilapia and that it doesn’t really matter.

Yay!!! I found the one place that carries my secret stash!!! Just know what your getting, where its located, and hopefully not have questions… Employees help you best they can… But English is not their best… So while your asking for Kim chee base. They send you to the restaurant lol… 2nd attempt you end up being sent to the kimchee aisle… 3rd attempt. They grab a fellow employee to help you… But still not understanding English :)

The grocery store itself is a solid four stars. I don’t think I would buy the seafood… didn’t seem too clean, but they had QUITE a selection — a wide variety I haven’t seen in SD. The dry goods are amazing. So many sauces and ramen packs and snacks and noodles and curry bases, etc. I haven’t been to a good asian market in years, and they had everything I was looking for — including tamarind paste. There was a great selection of kitchen utensils, too. I have been seeking out a good ramen bowl for a while, and they had the goods! The store is organized well, too… which is usually a problem at a lot of international food markets. The service here is a solid no star. Everyone is super rude. I tried to get food to-go in the order area, but the lady acted as if she knew absolutely no English and refused to communicate with me. Frustrated, I just had to give up. I tried the restaurant attached, and they didn’t want my business, either… they just kept gesturing toward the front door and when I asked for a menu, they said only«to go, to go, to go, yes?»(This was about five hours before their closing hours and people were sitting and eating.) The checkout lady said absolutely nothing to me, simply gestured at the screen when she was done ringing. I might head back for grocery shopping, but I’m wildly turned off by how they treat people, here. Have a thick skin and ignore it and you’ll be fine. Tip: If you’re wanting a banh mi sandwich, there’s a better place just a few doors down in the same parking lot that has a huge selection — and they’re actually cheaper than what is on offer at Lucky. And they’re nicer :)

Good selection of vegetables, meat, and fish. Store could use a good cleaning but like most older Asian shops, not bad. Place is pretty organized, staff is sort of friendly. Plenty of parking but on weekends, it can get busy with everyone shopping. I like to walk up and down the aisles and see all the items they carry I am unfamiliar with. Cost is pretty comparable to other Asian markets. Some are cheaper, some cost a little more.

This is for the to go food section of the grocery store. First impression: They had a wide selection of food and everything looked delicious. A friend and I ordered a few Vietnamese sandwiches(1 siu Mai, 2BBQ pork) and upon arrival we notice a few things have changed since last came here 4 – 5 years ago. It use to be buy 3 get 1 free and now it’s buy 5 get 1 free. They also raised the price to $ 3.75. I try to put in my order and the girl just stares at me. It was really awkward. And then she finally takes my order when I ask«can you take my order?» So she gives someone the order and the two employees who prepares the food has got beef between each other. I end up standing there for 15 – 20 minutes for nothing because neither of them prepared my sandwiches. Turns out the Mexican lady had asked the Vietnamese lady to take care of it because she’s busy putting together lunch boxes for the many customers coming in. She literally went through almost ten customers and this Vietnamese lady had done nothing. :| The girl who took my order apologized but it was really disappointing to see it affect their customer service. While waiting I start to notice a lot of other things that just made the place seem very unsanitary. There were flies everywhere. They had boxes with prepared fried breads but I wouldn’t resist it even with a lid because it seems the customers would accidentally leave them open from time to time. The hot foods only had a glass between the customer and employee so plenty of open space for flies to float around. I finally get my sandwiches and leave. The dirty thing I noticed in my car was how pungent the smell was. I don’t remember Vietnamese sandwiches smelling so unappetizing. When I finally got to eat one it was further disappointment. The pork was imcredibly fatty(spat a lot of it back out) and none of the BBQ flavoring a were on it. The whole tasted like it was made in a dirty oven. I don’t think I will be coming back. Terrible customer service and terrible food. One star for the girl trying to apologizing in the end but even that was more of a half star since she ignored me in the beginning.

Haven’t frequented here since H-mart opened next door– big mistake! Recently thanks to Chun P not only did I discover that phở lucky is amazingly delicious(connected to the store) I also discovered the food inside lucky seafood. 100x better value than H– mart food court. Got 2 side entrees(see picture) for under $ 6 each– amazing! They tasted ok to me, not restaurant quality but they make it up with their serving size. In addition I always pick up some of the unique asian rice sweet dishes I can’t find anywhere else. Yummy! The store is not super clean and the variety is lacking but food court and restaurant is a win in my book.

My parents live in a very small town on the East Coast. They have very little access to Asian food. So whenever they come visit us in San Diego, they are like kids in a candy store. They have vey little interest in seeing our beautiful beaches or mighty Naval fleet or much else. They just want to go to all the Asian grocery stores and restaurants and get their fill. Of all the available Asian stores in Mira Mesa, they like Lucky Seafood the best. The #1 reason is convenience. It is close to our house & they feel comfortable walking or driving there by themselves. #2 Lucky Seafood carries newspapers in both Vietnamese and Chinese. Even though our family is from Laos, my parents are multilingual and can read/write in both Vietnamese and Chinese amongst many other languages. It’s nice for them to keep up with different languages. #3 Fresh produce, fresh seafood, soup bones, spices, & all the other grocery items needed to put together excellent Viet/Lao/Thai/Chinese meal. #4 Hot food line, banh mi, che and other banh ngot for when we don’t want to cook. It can get a bit hectic and claustrophobic on the weekends especially between 9am-2pm. We simply go at different times. The selves are usually well stocked and the produce is replenished often. So we don’t feel a need to go at peak times. Hopefully my parents will move to San Diego if/when my mom decides to retire. My dad is ready to pack up. But mom still loves her job. In the meantime, they’ll just gleefully raid Lucky Seafood whenever they are in town.
