I was about to knock off some stars once I saw that little #2 pork sandwich in the bag but then I tried it and it was a damn good sandwich. There sandwiches come in what I would call a little bolillo roll but mine was packed with meat and veggies, it was really good! I also tried the B1 Grilled Chicken Vermicelli and it was good for $ 5, I would definitely get the sandwich again but maybe a different meat for the vermicelli. Next time I come back I will get the free boba drink with 2 sandwiches deal, if they still have it. Parking is tight, there’s a small parking lot in back. Tax was included in the menu prices.

The macaroons are delightful and pretty. The folks here have uncommon flavors of macaroons, such as black sesame and green tea, as well as more traditional flavors. I love the black sesame, the raspberry and the salted caramel, though the lady behind the counter says that the chocolate is their best seller. I can confirm that it’s great, too. All are delicious. If you had a fancy tea party and bought all of your fancy desserts here, your friends would be so very impressed. I’m thinking of buying these cookies for everyone I know for the upcoming holidays. You should consider doing so as well, because nobody hates the person who brings the fancy, dainty cookies.

I came here last to try the boba teas and smoothies and so glad I did, they were delicious! Today I went back to try some things from the menu. Very impressed with the portion sizes for the price. They use fresh ingredients. They have a great pastry selection as well. Everything is made fresh and the service is excellent.

One of the best vietnamese sandwich restaurants around. The grilled pork sandwich is my favorite! Parking is a little tight but I’ve never had trouble finding one. Highly recommended! It has a mini 85 degrees here too! Cheaper also :) But most importantly the service here is very fast and friendly, which is why I love this place!

Grandma was taking care of(I assume) the owners two small kids in the dining room(between sneezes). Kind of a turn off. I really wanted to give this place a go, since it’s so close to my place and I stuck it out. Glad I did. The girl at the counter politely took my order, recommended we try the pork option and all said and done we paid $ 7 for two sandwiches and a complimentary Thai iced tea. Cash only, which is to be expected at a family owned place like this. At some point I think the girl asked grandma to take the kids to a separate back area and wore plastic gloves while prepping the food, which I thought was very intuitive of her. The baguette roll was soft and fresh. The pickled veggies where great, but I could have used a little more. Same with the cilantro. Meat was very moist, flavorful and smelled enticing while I waited for the order. I like the addition of cucumber spears, mayonnaise, and soy sauce to the sandwich. I was a little disappointed that they don’t offer sweet chili sauce as a condiment like a lot of places do. If your willing to forgo ambiance you will be rewarded. Most reviewers mention their pastries and macaroon, which I’ll definitely try next time. Maybe it was an off day, but the countertops in the front area could have used some major tidying up, which I hope they will address. Overall, good service, acceptable food and great prices! Hopefully they will iron out the kinks.

I Unilocaled out a couple places in my area to grab some macarons at and found Little Saigon. Parking is a little crazy and the area is a little sketchy so make sure to come earlier in the day. By the time I arrived there(1pm) there wasn’t much of a selection. There were maybe 10 macarons total left. I ended up buying 5 and got my 6th for free. They were good but definitely tasted as if they’d been out awhile. Oddly the to-go plastic container the woman working there gave me had what appeared to be dust on it? Hoping it was flour. :) Con: Cash only but there is an atm machine at the fruit smoothie joint next door

4.5 stars– Drinks were really good but the boba could have been sweeter. Price was good and you can get a milk tea/smoothie and get any pastries for .99. The worker was really nice and gave usr extra smoothies. They use real fruits too. Everything is very affordable. The macarons also tasted great but some were harder than others.

This is a family owned business. While service can seem unorganized at times I feel that they are trying their best with their limited staff to accommodate everyone that comes through their door. You wouldn’t think to find such delicacies as macarons at a hole in the wall establishment but I must admit that I was thoroughly impressed with their food quality and taste. I even got a chance to try their phở, which was well above average in taste and quality. I can only see this place getting better as time goes on. I look forward to more future visits to this place. They also have asian breads, ham n cheese croissant, smoothies, milk teas, bobas, banh mi(Vietnamese sandwiches), and many more! And they do birthday and wedding cakes too! With fresh fruit fillings too!

Gertrude Stein famously wrote: «The trouble with Oakland is that when you get there, there isn’t any there there.» She might have been discussing macarons. Macarons, which the French, having a distorted sense of reality, consider pastry, look and smell appetizing, but when I really lean into a stack of macarons, I find the colorful bits of meringue and sugar insubstantial delivery systems for whatever the baker fills them with. And since ganache, marmalade and the like aren’t food, either, I might as well be trying to fill up on corn nuts. Macarons aren’t really a dessert, in the way that bread pudding or banana splits are desserts. They might be a snack, except that they disappear on the tongue, don’t provide much chew and can’t fill you up, so if it’s snack time and your stomach growls, macarons won’t silence the beast; at best, they’ll provide a distraction while you run and find a Snickers. None of which is to say that I dislike macarons. They’re disorienting, but I like them plenty(especially caramel), and I’ll drive halfway across town to buy them. Little Saigon Bakery and Deli makes, along with several sweet delights native to Vietnamese kitchens, macarons. Really good ones, with that eggshell-crispy skin on the cookie and a small variety of delicious fillings including: caramel, black sesame, two kinds of tea and pineapple. And, at $ 1.50, they’re somewhat less expensive than the competition. I know these things because I’ve visited the Bakery several times. But listen to this: The first time I walked into Little Saigon, I met the owner, Neil, who is just my sort of cook. He was ramping up for 2015 Lunar New Year catering jobs, a couple of weeks before the big day. I saw a picked-over array of macarons in the display case, asked Neil their price, and was surprised to hear, «I can’t sell them to you.» There weren’t enough cookies there to fill a catering order, and I didn’t expect they’d been presold, so I asked, «Why not?» Neil was polite and firm as he told me that the cookies were a couple of days old, that they wouldn’t taste fresh, and that if I’d come back after New Year’s, he’d have new ones available. Well, now I was just flabbergasted. And intrigued. «What,» I wondered to myself, «does an old, unloved macaron taste like?» I asked again for Neil to sell me what he had handy, explicitly accepting his caution that they weren’t fresh. I assured him I wouldn’t hold it against him and that I wouldn’t tell anyone how they tasted. But once more, he refused to make me a price. So I asked him to give me a couple, the ones he’d just throw out, anyway, but no, those macarons were headed for the trash, and no amount of bargaining or begging would change the young fellow’s mind. I left, empty-handed and impressed. I began this review describing my ambivalence towards macarons. I called them«insubstantial.» You know who disagrees with me? Neil. The quality of preparation and presentation he strives for in those cookies is so important to him that he refused a sale to a new customer, one who, at first sight, can be assumed to be a very generous and hungry patron. I told Neil that day, and I tell you now, his dedication and commitment to producing a quality product is admirable. It made me willing to wait for what I wanted, which was, in itself, a feat.
