Kearny Mesa Park & Recreation Center

There’s lots to do at this Rec Center, but I was here to join in the birthday celebration of my nephew at the BMX track. The track is located in the back corner of the park. You’ll have to navigate two dirt roads to get there, but once you find it, you’ll never forget it.
Parking is on gravel and there is some rental equipment available. But the track is very decent and there’s bleachers for spectating. A tent is also provided in case you want to put out a spread for your riders.
Obviously the track can be rented out for special events, and after speaking with the office manager, competitive races are held here as well. The races are grouped by age and the competition is very good.
My «Rad» days are far behind me, but the track is easy enough to navigate if you are suddenly awakened by your inner Cru. My cousin, two years my senior, was able to «grab air» for a second or two. He spent the rest of the evening grabbing air on the bleachers after two rounds on the track.
Looks like the local yokel is gonna race after all…

I’ve played softball here for 2 years now, and really enjoy the fields. The fields are fairly big, 300ft all around and the teams are pretty compeditive. Good lighting, and overall in pretty good shape my only gripe would be the league itself all games usually start 10 minutes late that seems to be on a weekly basis.
