Came in one night when they first opened several months ago(seriously, the guy was still cutting up the siding for the countertop and setting up decorations on the walls). He was the only one working so it took a little longer for him to cook up our carne asada fries, but we didn’t mind the wait since it would be fresh. We took the fries to go and had it at our buddy’s house about 2 blocks up the street. Meat was pretty sparse from what I remember and I wasn’t a big fan of the fries either. Nothing too special about this place so I doubt I’ll be coming back.

Loved it, the guy was super nice and told me he could put anything I wanted into my burrito, I said surprise me. He put carne asada, shrimp and fish. It was EXCELLENT.

Unsanitary cook who went on to prepare the food after touching the phone that was handed to him by the cashier(touches money all day!) Cashier super uninterested. Took forever to get the total of 3 tacos… Was about to ring me up over 6 dollars but I told him it was Tuesday and he didn’t even realize it was Tuesday… I guess nobody ordered any tacos today so far. I miss the girl from Santee that was initially here. She used the bigger battered fried fish and tortillas for fish tacos. And knew how to make carnitas(shredded and crisp). Now that she left the fish taco got smaller with the street size tortilla, non-battered fried, and the carnitas by this chef is cubed. So now its just two guys taking over this place. =( The Santee girl also washed her hands after ringing me up when she cooked. I noticed the people who came here for Taco Tuesday that I usually see are gone since the girl left. I don’t blame them. K39 if you are a chain restaurant — keep it the same and consistent for ALL locations else this is just another Mexican food place with your logo. might have to go Rodrigo’s now for Mexican.

This review is based on their signature burrito the surf & turf. First of all I have never had a S&T burrito… Just never made sense to me… I love carne & I love shrimp… WHYMIX? Well whatever… I tried their S&T and LOVEDIT… This shop is new owners of a preexisting taco shop… These new owners seem much more on the ball then the previous owners… One question I have for the owners is why k39? k38 is the surfspot… So either they could not get the rights to the name k38OR they are total kook posers… either way they make a good burrito NEWOWNERSAFTER2WEEKS… PLACEISJUST A NORMALTACOSHOPNOW. Got the surf and turf burrito. Was really good. Lots of big pieces of shrimp and carne asada. Gotta try the TJ dog next time wrapped in deep fried bacon. Anything with bacon has to be good and it was. Normal sized hot dog wrapped in bacon and served on a bun with salsa. Was good, but should have gotten two.
