This place was good. Good juicy big burgers! Tasty fries. Good food and good portions. They would serve you the burgers with a knife and fork, that’s how big they were! Good friendly service as well. I always had the turkey burger so I can’t comment on the others but they all looked the same size. Was surprised to see it closed down the other day when I happened to walk by. Shame, a hidden gem but probably it was the location that did it in. And to add insult to to injury, from the sign outside it looks like it will be another taco shop. This town needs another taco shop like it needs more taxes. Ridiculous but I bet it will do just fine.

IMPOSTERLOUNGE! — this is the biggest rip off I have ever seen — just a lawsuit waiting to happen. these guys claim to carry Grass Fed Beef from Tallgrass… really? proove it… go to the tallgrass website and see for yourself the only restaurant that serves their beef in the entire state of california is Burger Lounge — the real burgrer lounge not this rip off. oh well rumor has it this place will be going dark soon anyhow.

my favorite was the backyard burger with grilled onions and mushroom! tiny place but it’ll do the job of keeping some people in the place. the service was awesome and the girl was super nice! she actually checks up on the customers and ask how the food was. if i’m craving burgers, this would be the place i would go to.

It’s taken me forever to finally try this place. Oh so delicious. The employees took a little while to notice my boyfriend and I standing there waiting to order… I went with the number one combo. Burger, fries, and a drink for about 8.50 All the beef is grass fed and everything else is super organic. Its kind of like Burger Lounge meets Crazy Burger but in Little Italy. Due to the fact that the patties aren’t that frozen fast food crap that is shoved through a machine, it took longer to get our food but the wait was well worth it. If you need to get your vino on while you have a burger, they’ve got you covered as well. 3 bucks a glass. Burger was huge, but not too big for a lady. Fries were oh so incredible. I had a heap bigger than my burger was and when I was french fried out it looked like I hadn’t even made a dent in my food. The kind of good fries where you wouldn’t mind collapsing to the ground clutching your stomach shortly after eating. Definitely a delicious source of protein and left this usually very sensitive stomach feeling a-okay. 5 stars. Random observation: their list of why they are incredible fails to show their incredible grammar skills. I know mine aren’t the best, but owners if you’re reading this, don’t forget to capitalize the first letter of your informational phrase on items number two and three(if i remember correctly) from the list… but that’s just the teacher in me.

I won’t say anymore about the friendly staff… seems everyone else already loves them. The burgers are big, tasty, and healthy. Compared to typical corn-fed beef, grass-fed beef have more nutrients and lower fat. They take longer to raise, and that’s why there are so few grass-fed cows around. Kudos to J.B. for making such a tasty nutritious burger at a reasonable price. What’s not to like? Great lunch spot!

I found this place while working in downtown San Diego, and think it is a great little lunch place, and one of the better burgers I’ve had in a long time. Simple menu, but what they do, they do well. Just be careful and note that Combo 1 and 2 come with a ½ lb burger… yes ½ lb is huge. Combo 3 comes with the ¼ lb of grass fed beef. I suggest going for the spicy fries or sweet potato fries. Oh and the workers are very friendly.

«Where’s the restroom?» «Okay, listen carefully, you go up the block toward the stoplight & there’s an alleyway, turn left, & our restroom is the second door» Keeping in mind she has a cute accent, but that was super complicated. This place was okay. The only reason I ended up here was because my friends & I wanted to try Waterfront but we wanted to stray away from the massive crowd & eat somewhere quick. The place was really small, but the food reminded me of Fuddruckers, but not really. I had a Combo #1. It was actually pretty good – it packed a lot of taste, & the fries were crazy good. As for the buns, they were really hard. That probably knocked a star down, right there. This place is organic, so I think it’s great for the most part. It wasn’t anything memorable, tho. Just that our servers were some of the nicest people I’ve ever encountered. All in all, it’s an okay experience but definitely not the greatest.

You know, I wasn’t knocked out or blown away. I had the ¼ lb. combo with avocado added, and the fries. I like that they have sweet potato fries as an option, but that wasn’t offered to me. I read it on the menu after the fact. Oh well… As for the whole«grass fed», etc. etc. If you cook a burger the right way, it’ll be juicy and good. I thought mine was a bit overcooked(I like mine medium), and while it was good, I don’t think it quite lived up to the hype. I also found the bun to be a bit too hard. I might go back, but it isn’t somewhere I’d seek out for a burger.

This was the juiciest burger I’ve had in a very long time, maybe it’s the grass fed beef? Oh wait and the bun was soft and just RIGHT! MM-mmm it was whole wheat and very fresh, I added mushrooms to mine and it was so tasty but a little drippy I had to get more napkins. Which I don’t mind, I hate dry food. I also got a white wine for $ 3! Yay. The whole meal with a beer and wine was $ 21 for 2 of us, we had a JB burger, a 4th of July one(that has big blue cheese chunks) and a salad to share. i was happy with that price and I think of when I go to Crazy burger and this was so much better and not as expensive either. Of course I used the coupon from the Downtown Coupon Magazine but still it was a good deal with drinks. There is a Russian woman, Allanah(not sure of the spelling) who served us, she was such a kind sweetie, she even split up our salad on 2 plates for us. We were overjoyed with the service and the flavor. It’s pretty hard to get a good burger in this town but I’m definitely coming back. I could only eat half of my burger and she offered to box up the rest. Of course I was saving room for coffee and a cupcake which came a little later see that review below. I should add that being beside Waterfront was a funny juxtaposition because one side(Waterfront’s side) had the obnoxious biker babe mentality, loud and people poking out at the seams and Just Burgers had this quiet serene feeling. I came in glad it wasn’t as busy as Waterfront and we had the place almost to ourselves. Some people compare the food to a place like Waterfront and I just shake my head. The only reason I’ve ever gone to Waterfront was to see a friend play in a really bad cover band or the time I was too drunk to mind the obnoxiousness. Just Burgers is going to be your folks who like to hear each other talk, Waterfront is not their competition, just a ghostly reminder of what they would never want to be ;)

Big, dry bun for a mediocre burger. Grass fed, can you really tell the difference? Just another hype incentive like slapping«organic» on everything and adding $ 2 to the price. The burger was just ok. Burger Lounge has a better«Grass Fed» burger that you need less napkins for. I used half the napkin dispenser to sop up the mess dripping down my forearms to the table and floor. I guess that’s why the bun needs to be dry. You want a great burger? Save your time driving around Little Italy for a parking spot and try Chee Burger Chee Burger and get the garlic added! Now that’s a tasty burger!

Highlights: –Grass fed beef –organic buns and condiments –we could upgrade the coke to wine for only $ 1 –Russian woman at the counter(apparently they are very multicultural) –Russian woman’s man, who had some good commentary on the food –they have spicy fries –they have an early bird combo – burger, fries, and beer for $ 6 Lowlights: –the person taking our order told me it was a secret as to where they got their meat, which made me wonder if it was really grass fed –the ketchup appeared to be partially frozen –no substitutions on combo(although not really enforced) –spicy fries didn’t taste too different than regular ones

GRASS-FEDBEEF! That’s what drew me in to this place, but the charming staff and surprising culinary experience are what will bring me back time and time again. I strongly disagree with the luke-warm assessments that some reviewers have written. I’m floored by the quality of the food – and not only the juicy, well-seasoned, and satisfyingly sloppy JB Burger I stopped in to try. As I approached the counter, I noticed a sign advertising feijoada(served only on Sundays), a Brazilian specialty I didn’t expect to see. I ordered both it and the burger, and couldn’t have been happier with either. The burger was everything I’d hoped for: skillfully cooked, generously adorned with tomatoes, grilled onions, cheese(I chose Jack), and the lounge’s version of thousand-island dressing. It also tasted fantastically charred, in the way food tastes when cooked over a campfire. The bun was robust enough to support the sloppiness of the burger admirably. And the feijoada… oh, my… The friendly woman working the counter on today’s visit is Brazilian, and her contribution to the menu is this lovingly prepared stew of grass-fed beef that falls off the bone when touched, expertly seasoned sausage slices, tender beans, bright greens, and rice, served with a little mound of farofa(roasted cassava flour, apparently) to thicken everything up. The Brazilian employee prepared the dish for us, brought it to our table, and taught us the proper way to eat it – mixed all together, devoured with a fork(not a spoon!), and finished with a bite of orange at the very end. The dish is 11.99, but if it were served in a white-tablecloth setting it could command almost twice that. The small patio was also lovely(there’s a lime tree growing at one corner), and a nice counterpoint to the bar next door.

First off let me say any place that calls me «baby» or «sweetie»! you get a plus one star! thats right folks they get the fifth star for the«baby» calling action. Went there on a whim, and i thought it was going to be like burger lounge. Why would i dare to compare? Burger Lounge is hippster central in Kensington. Just Burgers is a nice stop next to the Waterfront. It wasnt busy so the moment we came in, the worker greeted us with baby compliments and took our order. we had a coupon so we used it! I grabbed the JB Burger, holy grass-fed cow! It was a half pound of juice meat with grilled onions fresh lettuce and tomatoes and their well known JB sauce. it was delicious! i ate half.(the other half is in my fridge for later consumption) Grab their Zesty fries. OHGOD! foodgasim! Try it for yourself and prove me wrong!

Good burgers. Not great. I live just a block from this place, and the wife and I got take-out tonight there for the first time. I’ve been keeping an eye on the reviews, and suspected that a burger place would not survive long adjacent to the Waterfront(which, for my money, has the world’s best burger). The layout of this place was terrible back when it was Bud’s, and these guys haven’t changed it much. Simple menu, and big burgers. Nice job with the food quality(grill-marked buns, better than average fries), but there’s something just a little«odd». They put a «JB» sauce on every burger on the menu. It’s BBQ-like, and fairly forgettable, but I couldn’t help wondering if they use it to mask the taste that some«grass fed» meats have.(They also overcooked both of our burgers, which would support my conspiracy theory.) I’m all for healthier food choices, and I appreciated the quality of the lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles(all very fresh, and crisp), but I’m a little wary when a restaurant puts this much energy into marketing anything other than the taste of their product. Worth a try, if grass fed meat is more important to you than the sheer joy of a greasy/juicy burger, but for as rare a treat as a cheeseburger is for us, I think we’ll stick with the Waterfront’s Texas Burger.

I know this place tries too hard. The location is not really great because being next to the Waterfront. However, the partner and I had a craving for simple food on Sat. nite so we decided to get something here. He eats no meat so he gets the veggie burger(no tomatoes). I ordered the Works(bacon, avocado, and grilled onions). Tastewise, it was fine and not as great as some but not as terrible as others indicated. I ordered both types of fries, zesty and regular. The regular was fine but the zesty was not in the other fries. They need to put more zest if they are going to calling it zesty fries. The place was quiet for a Sat. night and I think that was not a good sign. The place has been open for a while. I don’t have any qualms with the service, it was fine(since I was the only one who ordered). It took about the same time as I would have at Fuddruckers. Overall, I think it can be better. The food should never be graded on the website or service, it should only enhance its rating. I recommend it if you are in the area and crave a burger. Otherwise, don’t go out of your way to go to this place.

I’ve gotta admit that i’m a little surprised by the other reviews of Just Burgers. I wanted so badly to love this place. I came here with some friends after Art Walk this weekend(and after a few cocktails at The Waterfront) on my walk home and ordered the ¼ pound burger. The claim to fame of Just Burgers is that the beef is organic, free range, non-steroid, non-fructose or whatever, which is a great in theory, right? Well, I’m sure the flavor of these well taken care of cows was great, but I couldn’t taste it because the it all got lost in the bun. WHERE’S THEBEEF!!! The cook politely informed me that IF I had only ordered the ½ pounder I would have been satisfied, but the first impression was less than impressive… unfortunately. I always want to see little specialty places like this succeed, but they’re going to have a tough time — especially since the local watering hole next door offers a ridiculous patty melt.

Just Burgers is really trying to be an upscale burger joint, but I don’t think it works. I tried the BJ — bbq sauce with grilled onions. I also added bacon. Because you have to have some bacon. When my order came out, it was wrong. I had asked for no lettuce and tomatoes and pickles.(The chick that took my order didn’t speak English very well. Between the too-loud tunes and her ESL, I’m sure something got lost in the translation.) So, they took it back and got rid of the offensive stuff. Fine. So I bit into the burger. It was supposed to be done medium but it was cooked through. It was surprisingly juicy for being overdone. But the BBQ sauce was too sweet(I like more vinegary). And the grilled onions had no flavor to them and were a bit undercooked. To add insult to injury, the bun was some herbed bread. Uh, no. Ack. I ate about half of it because I was hungry but it was really unsatisfying. I would have been better off getting a burger next door at the Waterfront.

I would give this place 4 ½ if I could. The burgers(we had the 4th of July and the Backyard) were juicy, flavorful and delicious! A virtual symphony of flavors in my mouth! The Zesty fries were crispy and wonderful, although not zesty. Eh, you win some… Location is the pits, but hopefully this little burger joint will pull through! A wonderful burger(really big though!) and a beer on a warm summer day– what could be better?!

What’s the 3 most important factors in real estate? Answer: Location, Location, and Location. This poor restaurant doesn’t have any one of them. Before it was«Just Burgers» it was«Bud’s», a gumbo, po boy joint. Decent food and loyal customers, but they lasted maybe 2 years. Before Bud’s it was a little Italian shop that served great food but always seemed empty. I got the impression that no one wanted to let the word out in fear of crowding their favorite lunch spot. Now we have Just Burgers, and I’m sorry but I’m not impressed. The ¼ pound burger WASNOTHUGE and really wasn’t very tasty. It took almost 15 mins to make and was expensive. Best burger in San Diego… ugh, no. If I served San Diego my ass on a bun it would taste better than this. Nah, I wouldn’t go that far, but you get the picture. I definitely wouldn’t go out of my way for this place, parking is hard to come by. If you want a good burger, I suggest Western Steak Burger, Canada Steak Burger, Tioli’s Crazee, Fudruckers, DZ Akins, Rocky’s, hell even Jack ‘n Box. It does pain me to write this since the owners/workers seemed really friendly. Maybe they’ll listen and rework the menu. I hope so, or they’re sure to suffer the same fate as Bud’s and the secret Italian kitchen. It seems like they might have listened to Curtis M., because my bun was sesame, not rosemary.

****Rosemary Bunmer**** This burger had one of the best patties I have had in a while. It was ½ pound and cooked to perfection. The burger was juicy and all the condiments were very fresh. This could have been one of the best burgers I have ever had, BUT I could not get over the bun. To me the bun is an important compliment for a good burger. The burger I ordered, the JB Burger(the normal burger), came with a rosemary bun. It was cold and the rosemary just kept overpowering the burger. If this burger was served on maybe a nice egg wash white bun that was slightly grilled this place would probably be a 5 star for food. There was a good creative selection of burgers to choose from. The burgers are a bit pricey for the type of service, order from the counter and served in baskets, but you can barely finish it, so it ends up working out. Service was very good when I was there, but it was pretty empty, but very friendly and attentive.
