I picked up a pre-’64 Franklin .50 cent piece from these guys a few weeks ago at a very reasonable price. You have to get«buzzed» in and they are not open on Saturday. The gentleman that assisted me was courteous, helpful and friendly. I would consider purchasing from John Franklin Coins again in the future. It is nice to have options in coin shops, where you can see and handle the actual product before making a purchase.

…when you go out of your way and rush to get to a spot that closes at 4pm, make it to the spot BEFORE4pm, ring the doorbell and see the guy come out of the back and tell you ‘we’re closed’, it kiiiiinda confuses you a bit, maaaaaybe even pisses you off. …when i questioned what time they close, the response was ‘we close at 4 but we’re closed now because we’re going to a show.’ I hope they raked in the $$ at the show, because to turn away a possible customer lookin to purchase coins with $$ in his pocket, during stated business hours, is… well; maybe its just their hobby and they dont care about making $$??? I dunno, but since theyre not open on weekends, i went to another closeby shop and spent $$ to purchase the coins i wanted! It wasnt like the dude was like ‘what can i help you with? something specific?’ No, he makes an X with his arms to signify ‘closed’. Yea, thats how to run a business! Good job… good riddance!

What fun! We stumbled on to this coin shop while driving around. So knowledgable and helpful. My husband spent quite a bit of time chatting and looking at the nice selection they have on display. Even though we didn’t purchase anything today, they have a great website and were so nice about giving us information. We will definitely do some shopping on their site when we get back to Northern California. Thanks for being so nice!

I was looking to sell some coins that I’ve had for a while and a friend of mine told me about John Frankiln. I had gone to a couple of other shops before so I had an idea of what my coins were worth. Hands down JF gave me the best deal. The staff is great! Courteous and very professional. They have gained a customer for life.

I went to two coin shops to sell a U.S. Proof coin set. Cellar Coin & Jewelry and John Franklin Fine Jewelers(on Balboa Avenue). I went to John Franklin jewelers first where they offered me $ 675. I wasn’t sure if this was a good price, so I went to Cellar jewelers a few weeks later. Although Mike from Cellar Coin was initially polite and knowledgeable; he only offered me $ 468. I politely explained I had been offered $ 675 and he was obivously bothered. I thanked him, drove 20 minutes down the road to John Franklin jewelers where Buzz and Jeff paid me $ 675 for the coins. Both shops showed professionalism, knowledge and politeness, but with the extreme difference in price offered my coins, I have to give a big thumbs down to Cellar and a big«yes» to John Franklin. John Franklin Jewelers has gained my trust.
