Been riding Tuflite longboards for the last 15 years around the world and obviously haven’t needed much repair work.
In the past 6 months I’ve taken 2 boards here; number 1 had a bunch done for cheaper than I’ve ever seen. Number 2 got buckled and made the mistake of taking it to Coconut Peet’s who were condescending, wanted to do crappy work, wanted to keep it for weeks, and wanted to charge a forune… NOPE!
Came to my senses quickly, took it to Ropers who did, again, fantastic work in half the time and for HALF the money…
Businesses that do bad work don’t last and don’t expand, Ropers have been in business since the 70’s… just saying. Cheers guys!

Took my board here with a caved in right rail and it looks like nothing even happened at all. Now I’m back in the water. Good lookin out guys!

I’ve had a few boards repaired here over the years, and the repairs have always come back looking really good and with a relatively quick turnaround. Reasonable prices, too.

My first review on Unilocal is due to the great work and professional staff at Joe Roper. The turn around time was faster than the 2 week quote and repair wasn’t even noticeable. Great repair and friendly people. I paid $ 65 for 3 repairs on the rail. Work the money to have it professionally repaired by these guys. I will always bring my boards here.

Overall a positive experience with Joe Roper’s. They do great repair work on boards. I’d recommend them to anyone who is in need of any sort of repair and wants quality work done. They repaired my side-​rail and minus the exact coloring, which they clearly communicated to me would be a little different than original, the shape and sturdiness of the board feels great. The only reason this shop isn’t getting a 5-​star review is because I feel their customer service could use a little work. The first guy I dealt with was pretty helpful and very nice, but the two gentleman who helped me out after that just seemed a little rigid. They completed every task I requested and were generally pretty helpful, they just didn’t seem too happy to go out of their way for the customer. Other than that small imperfection, I’d give Joe Roper’s an A rating. They really do great work.

I brought my Robert August custom in to have a large delam fix along with a few dings. Turnaround was fast, and the work quality is excellent. The board has a custom orange/​tie-​dye paint and they were able to match it PERFECTLY. I really was expecting to be able to notice where the delam was fixed, but it looks good as new.
The staff was very friendly and helpful in getting everything squared away on my board. Prices seemed very fair, and considering the quality of the work I think it was definitely a bargain. Outside of the repair services, they carry a huge selection of accessories; fins, board bags, even go pro mounts.

Snapped my board in half, so bummed brand new Sharpeye. Didn’t even think it was going to be fixable, but Roper is the man. This was not an easy fix, and my board rides like the day I got it (a bit more heavy though). Only complaint was it cost me $ 135 bucks to fix the buckle, but honestly with this workmanship I am just glad they were able to fix it!

The entire staff is super friendly and they’ll greet you right away, which is always appreciated. The quality of the repair was excellent.

The nose of my board was pretty much sheared off during a move. I have a two color board and they did an amazing job matching the colors. The nose tip is perfect and basically you can’t even tell where the damage was. Dropped my board off and it was done in the time they said it would take. Completely effortless and I would definitely bring any of my boards to them for repair. Great job!

Joe always does great work and will give you a fair deal on repairing your board. His work is very high quaiity. He has been doing all my repairs for over 15 years!

I probably can’t say anything that hasn’t been said already. This place is awesome, my board came in with pretty bad nose damage from sunset cliffs and Joe Roper fixed my board and made it look brand new again. Great customer service and there prices are very competitive.

Always bring my boards to joe ropers. I’ve tried other local guys who might be a little quicker or cheaper and it always comes out like crap. Just take it to the pros, repairs always coming out flawless and super clean. Super cool guys up front too and the new shop is really nice too big upgrade.

THE place for ding/​surfboard repairs. Great if you have big repairs or have «hopeless» cases. I’ve gone there plenty of times, and on more than a few occasions I thought my board had little chance. But Roper’s came through each time.

I’ve brought a countless number of boards down here for the last few months and I’ve got to say the service and quality of repairs they do is 5 star every time. Prices are always reasonable and they get the job done quicker than you’d expect. There have also been times where they caught something I didn’t notice and they went ahead and fixed it. These guys also do a great job on color and can get the job done on just about anything. Quality, consistency, and assurance every time.

All around awesome place! They were so helpful, and not nearly as expensive as I thought it’d be! They did a great job of fixing my board, I can only tell there was ever damage because I know where it used to be!
Most importantly, they actually care about the repair. After I dropped off my board, I got a call within an HOUR saying they had found another, small ding and would get it fixed for only a few dollars more. It was such a great deal, and I couldn’t believe they had started the repair so soon! It was fixed in under a week, and a beautiful job, too.
If I ever need another repair, I will be coming here!

I have unfortunately had the pleasure of dealing with the staff at Joe Roper’s repair shop on two separate occasions. The first time I knocked a friend’s cherished FCD board into a rock climbing out of the water at Bird Rock. This was the beginning of the end of that friendship. Alas, with a small ding smack in the middle of the rail I took it over to Roper’s and they had the board looking as good as new in less than 10 days for under $ 50. She could not find the repair. Win for myself, and Roper’s.
On the second occasion, I had just received a brand new custom board and taken it out to ride once before a friend dropped it onto the tile floor in my apartment. Dark blue in color, the board had three very visible dings around the rails. Joe Roper not only made the board water-​tight again, but also color matched to near perfection. The untrained eye would have no idea the board had ever been damaged. All this happened on a rush order in less than a week.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff who will always give you an honest quote on any repair job and take pride in their work. If you find yourself in a bind and are looking for San Diego’s best ding doctor, Joe Roper is your guy.
