This place was a joke! We were starving, and just moved to SD so we sort of wing’d it. We took a chance and my roommate went to pick up a to go order. It was so disgusting, and rubbery I spit mine out and could not even eat it. If you cannot make«chicken fried rice» correctly you should not be allowed to consider yourself a «Chinese restaurant!» Unbelievable… it was literally inedible. I shake my head when I drive by this place now… Bleh, we were nervous we would get food poisoning just from the few bites we ate… we will never eat here again. If you do. I hope you have an iron frickin stomach and have 911 on speed dial. Good luck to ya!

A co-worker of mine saw this place when he was going to In-N-Out and checked out the lunch menu online. We thought it was a pretty decent price and decided to check it out for lunch. This location is not really packed at all during lunch time even though it’s in the H-Mart area. The restaurant is fairly small with only 2 big tables and the rest are smaller tables that fit ~4 guests. The interior looks like your typical older Chinese restaurants. It seems like a family owned restaurant with Chinese workers that I heard speaking Cantonese. The foods I saw coming out of the kitchen looked delicious and looked the same way as the food I would get up in the Bay Area. After we were seated we were asked what we wanted to drink. They came back with waters right away. Then after looking at the menu for about 5 – 10 minutes, the waitresses came by to take our orders. All I have to say are the lunch menu portions are huge! It’s such a great deal for a $ 6.50 lunch you basically can split it between 2 people. I have the shrimp lo-mein. It was decent. The whole plate was filled with noodles and it comes with a side of soup and a potsticker. This is a great lunch spot especially if you’re hungry and looking for a cheaper meal. I definitely will come back here and try other stuff next time.

Horrible service. I saw some tables were served first before us when obviously we were here first. The food was ok.

Bff: you have a piece of rice on your chin. Me: I don’t care. I’m grazing. After behaving ourselves over the tofu in the seafood casserole [we usually have chopstick wars over the tofu] I will give this place 5 stars. I’ve been on a diet where I’ve lost 46 pounds since November… so ME coming here is like asking a death row prisoner what they would like to have for their last meal. I’m surprised we only ordered 2 dishes… because back in the day we would get 3 or 4 dishes and have leftovers for the next day. We ordered the seafood casserole and the salt baked squid and let me tell you it was DIE-LISHUS. Strap me to an iv connected to MSGRIGHTNOW. MOOOOOOOOOOOO.

The price for the lunch special is spot on for the quality of food you’re getting. It’s only $ 6 for your lunch which includes your entrée, rice, soup, and a potsticker. So it’s a great value, but $ 6 is as much as I would be willing to pay considering the quality of meat used. My husband order the salted pork which was mostly fat and bones. When he was lucky enough to find a good piece of meat, the flavor was really good. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken which wasn’t great, pretty poor quality meat. They give you a large helping of fried rice that was pretty good, so I filled up on that. Overall, it was just okay. But we only paid $ 6 per meal, so we can’t complain too much!

I pulled a piece of freaking metal from my mouth that came from my shrimp fried rice. METAL. It must have been from a wire sponge, but that I didn’t mind so much. This is what pissed me off– they didn’t apologize, they didn’t even consider remaking my freaking fried rice. I didn’t get a refund, discount, or anything. Awful experience. But I gave them a second chance and took my boyfriend there… what a mistake. We were seated near the door by the cash register and in the middle of my eating the waitress/hostess elbowed me in the head! Like what the f***? It was an accident, yeah, but it was freaking hard and she kind of giggled it off. I was so pissed we had to leave. I’d never go back or recommend this place to anyone. Go to Lucky Seafood, Phở Ca Dao or even Luon Ky.

I have eaten here 4 times now because it’s in between my work travels and I like Chinese food. Today the hot and sour soup was a little watered down but not enough to cost them a star. The customer service was quick and friendly. The food was in a very large portion and very tasty. The lunch special was only $ 5.95 so I can’t lose. Also the carpet was very clean which is unusual for a Chinese restaurant so that was nice.

This place is just okay for Chinese food. It’s a step up from Panda Express. For dinner I got the shrimp chow mein and spicy salted pork. Egg drop soup is disgusting here. Don’t you ever get it. The salted pork was good. I give it a 7⁄10. the seasoning was delish and the portion size can feed 2. The shrimp show mein I kinda expected it to be like every other place I get it from but it was crispy noodles with some type of soup/sauce poured all over it. It’s kinda plain so if it had some other type of seasoning it’d be better.

We’ve been eating here often for years ever since my husband and I started dating and when we used to live in Mira Mesa. We occasionally go back for nostalgia. They are always very nice(they remember us each time) so I am giving them 4 stars tho I think the food is more 3 stars the last few times. I used to be quite unimpressed the first time I came here. Then their food was sooo incredibly good for a while that this place was the only Chinese food I wanted to eat at. Really, the only 5 star chinese food in SD. Sadly, that period seems to have passed and they are back to where they were once before. I can see how hard they work and because it is incredibly hard work to have a family owned restaurant business(for years and years), I will continue to make an effort to patronize them occasionally in the hope that their food will once again be as awesome as I once found it to be. Please oh please bring back your original chef!

Pretty Mediocre Chinese Place. Good Lunch Specials. Ate here for Aunt’s birthday. Parking is pretty packed, but I think that is more due the H-Mart and In-N-Out nearby. The restaurant itself was actually quite small, with all the tables kinda packed. We tried a whole bunch of dishes from Peking duck and crispy noodles, to black bean clams and salt and pepper shrimp. It was okay, very mediocre, when compared to the other Chinese restaurants on Convoy, I did enjoy the egg foo young. Definitely would choose to eat else where when it came to the other dishes. Not on the same visit, but I have gotten their lunch specials(usually one entrée with a ton of fried rice and a dumpling, I think you get soup if you eat there), and while the quality and taste was alright, the amount they give your for the price is a really good deal!

The salted baked chicken here is truly authentic at least it is just how they make it in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. I would advise against anything else! Strangely when i ordered the chicken they thought i must have meant the crispy chicken perhaps because they are not used to westerners liking steamed.

Very good sweet and sour fish. I enjoyed the waiters jokes. They were quick despite being busy. The almond jelly at the end made my day. Was not expecting that at all. Can’t wait to come back again. Gf loved it and she usually doesn’t like Chinese food.

You can go wrong with great value on lunch menu. Comes with hot tea, soup and huge portion! Why would I go to Pick up sticks or Panda exp. You have a restaurant quality meal at here for much less! I am regular here.

Atmosphere: We went went here for the first time. It is very small inside and lots of tables. Makes you feel a little crowded and close to one another. If anything they need to expand. Customer Service: The customer service was good, but not great. They did not set up enough setting for the amount of people we reserved for. We had to constantly ask for things. The staff was very friendly though. Food: The food was pretty good. The portions of the meat were not as big as I thought they would be. The food was tasty overall, but I have tasted better. I have to say their fried sweet and sour fish was great. Price: I did not see the price since another family member paid. I would recommend this place for a small party and when they are not busy.

Fat lunch portion!!! That’s all I gonna say. $ 6 and you got your money worth. I was able to finish only 1⁄3 of the plate lol. Got #1 house special chicken and #11 Kung pao beef. The beef dish was ok. But the chicken was very yummy. The service is suck as all the other comments said. But hey, the food is good and cheap so I don’t mind :)

I come here before 3pm for lunch because the restaurant offers lunch special DAILY before 3pm. You can get dishes such as shrimp with lobster sauce for $ 6.50 instead of 13 – 15 dollars at other restaurants. Food tastes decent. It’s a great place to come to when going grocery shopping. Service is good, and I felt comfortable by myself and with others. The restaurant is located near HMART(Korean market), Daiso, Subway, and In-N-Out. Edwards cinemas is also close by.

I really wanted to like this place. The Unilocal pictures and cheap lunch specials reeled me in. Turns out the lunch was cheap but the rest was overpriced, I wanted honey walnut shrimp which cost me $ 15. The amount was reasonable, the taste was just okay. The shrimp tasted fake or old with a weird texture. I started feeling sick after eating half, thinking maybe I ate too much… before I saw the nastiest and biggest hair in my food. I am understanding that it happens… hair falls out all the time. But it was HUGE and THICK — did not look like an eyelash or head hair. Had to throw out the rest because I literally felt nauseous. I was excited to come back and try the cheap lunch specials but after this I don’t think I will be.

Daily lunch menu prices are now $ 4.25-$ 4.95 daily until 3. Still no music so just the sound of water running in the back and the refrigerator. Hopefully you come when there’s enough people to drown the white noise out.
