Dan is the perfect combination of health and deliciousness! He catered to my dietary needs while maintaining major flavor in every dish… and he does not overload it with salt! I never knew this was possible! Some dishes were obviously more satisfactory than others, but he will aims to work with your taste profile. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a change in their diet and life. You will sure feel the difference!

The holidays were rough. Too much food. Too much rich food. Too much party. Too much everything. Need to clean my palate and unstuff my stomach. Thought to myself: «Self: maybe what you need is a few weeks on a vegan diet.» Lucy Y., the great recruiter, found Dan Foster on Craig’s List and gave me the present of doing all the pre– work. Found out what kind of stuff he cooks, how the process works, etc. And voi la… I have a vegan chef for a few weeks. Dan came to the house the first time and because I didn’t really explain what I wanted, the offerings were a little paltry. Gotta be able to communicate, dammit. So I filled out his questionnaire and emailed him a bunch of stuff about all the items I forgot. He wants to know what ethnic foods you like, spices, portions, favorite veggies, etc., etc., etc. He’s a Cordon Bleu-trained chef so he cooks everything but he himself is primarily vegan and that’s what I wanted to try. So today he came back to the house with LOTS of food tryouts. I invited my neighbor Robin and she and I had a vegan buffet feast, complete with a bottle of Argentine Malbec(hey, wine is vegan y’all!). Our favorite: – Sauteed curried veggies on top of brown rice with lemon and ginger,. – Mashed yams with candied pecans Other dishes: – green beans with ginger and almonds(these were the freshest, tastiest organic green beans I have ever tasted — the flavor just popped in your mouth) – sauteed root veggies(parsnips, carrots, turnips) with some spice maybe tarragon – stuffed yellow and red pepper with a mexican-type sauteed veggies: These were too spicy for me so Robin took them home. – quinoa mixed with sauteed veggies He cooked the quinoa with veggies right in my kitchen. Everything else came already cooked in containers. Next time he’s bringing gluten-free vegan ravioli stuffed with various veggies and cashew cream sauce. Yum. This is going to be fun… and I don’t have to cook! $ 30 per meal, which also takes into consideration his travel time and cook time.
