Great experience except for the fact that they tipped themselves $ 24 on my $ 28 dollar tab! Make sure you tip cash or keep track of your expenses there.

I went there with some friends for the sunburn pool party on the 28th. We reserved a couch and that was a good choice because of how crowded it was. The server was great in the beginning and awful near the end. I ordered a bucket of bottle water and after 30 min she comes back asking if we needed anything and said yea the waters are coming. Hahaha. Later on in the day we ordered 10 shots and about 30 min after I flag her down to find out where the shots were and she said opps I forgot them. After about 20 min she comes back with 7 shots. Ok I guess i wont do one. I asked her to bring the check cause I was ready to leave and that took about another 30 min. I think she may have had to big of a section. Its called bottle service not bottle drop off. I also think its weird to allow people who are not doing bottle service to sit on couches and ask other for ice and juice so they can pour drinks from the water bottle they had. C’est la vie

Float is on my top 10 list of bars to hit in the Gaslamp, especially during the week. I like to bring my out of town visitors here and sit around the outside fire pits, enjoy the sounds and Downtown air and relax in their comfy couch like settings while enjoying my favorite drink. I have never been here on the weekend(Friday or Saturday) and I am sure this place is popular since it is located atop the Hard Rock Hotel. I’ve found that during the week, even when conventions are in town, it’s never over-run, too busy and there is always a place to sit. Great drinks, expect the usual Downtown prices and the service is nice. The staff goes out of their way to chat it up with a bit especially since it is not as busy during the week as it gets on the weekends.

Not the biggest venue, Since, there is barely any day clubs in SD over summer its definitely worth checking out over the summer. I came here here memorial day weekend in 2015 and enjoyed myself. It has a real Vegas vibe with its EDM music and young crowd. The pool is pretty small so i wouldn’t expect to swim in it. However, there is plenty of walking space and seating areas. There are also cabanas that you can reserve that were spacious as well. Luckily, me and my group made friends with some people and were invited in to the cabana. Very cool area! Even though i dont remember much(a little too much kool-aid). It was a fun place and not expensive, i am pretty sure i only paid 10 $ to get in on a Saturday. I would come back again!

Rooftop bar fun! Float is above the Hard Rock Hotel, where intervention is held during summertime! This is a fun spot, especially on warm evenings. Holiday and summertime usually create long lines and covers, during low peak time there’s no cover and the line doesn’t exist which is nice. Seating is located at the bottle service areas, however is seating is available when the VIP areas are not reserved. They play good music with the DJ’s they have here! The bartenders make the drinks well and atmosphere make this a nice spot to sip your cocktail and enjoy the weather in America’s Finest City. ;D

I am a fan of rooftop places and so we decided to go here on a Saturday night. But we were so disappointed. They only have huge group like seatings. The crowd was mostly middle aged and the music was just ok. Never coming back again here !

Oh boy, this wasn’t my scene. Staying at the Hard Rock, I first meandered up here on a Friday afternoon to check out the Hard Rock’s pool. Imagine my surprise when I saw a tiny pool with about 25 guys in it and 3 girls in it. Plus, there are only cabanas or tables to reserve to sit at. No lounge chairs or individual seats; everything is group seating. You do have views of convention center. So, this isn’t a place to lounge by the pool; it’s more bar/pool party. As a Hard Rock guest, they give you a VIP pass to get into their bars without waiting in line and no cover before 10pm. Further, they put a message in the room, warning you to get there early because it gets very busy. Stopped by here at 10:15pm on a Friday night and there were around 15 people here, total. Seriously. Friend and I had a drink(cosmopolitan); about $ 14. We left after that. Saturday around noon, friend and I returned, only to find it was some sort of «club Saturday» meaning you have to be over 21 to attend(annoyed my friend, because her kids were there and wanted to use pool; hard rock front desk gave her passes to Hilton pool for her kids). At Special events, ALL seats are by reservation. That’s right, unless you have a reservation, you will be standing on a Saturday afternoon, by the pool with no shade, on a hot 90 degree day. Yeah, I was done . But I did find one positive, staff was very friendly. Door men and bartenders were helpful with any questions or quick to get my drinks.

Omg where do I start. So I had my bday party here and I decided to rent a cabana for a sat in the peak of August and I had to book it in June which I had no problem with. My total without gratuity was $ 1250 and u can use that any way u want(bottles, food etc). Then a month later they call me to let me know they are having a promotion for buy 2 bottles get one free(total 750 $ or so) I was pretty excited until they called me the week of my party to let me know they can’t honor the promotion and it’s back to $ 1250. Wtf?! Ok, so I asked if they can comp me anything for my inconvenience and of course they said that there is nothing they can do or give me. No food, no round of shots, nothing. So they agreed to let my guests in without any entrance fees. That would have been great except they rejected 6 – 10 of my guests because it was full occupancy. My cabana only had 10 people and I had no limit to the amount I can have in there. After the inconvenience of me having to argue with the bouncer and having to go downstairs, I finally got all my friends up. Fast forward a few hours and we were having fun and dancing. However, the security guards had the audacity to pull out their phones and start recording us! That is a violation of privacy and very unprofessional. And to top it off, they kicked out my fiancé for tripping in accident. After a lot of convincing they finally let him back in but by then the day club was over and they started cleaning up for the night club. I was told that I had the Cabana for the whole day but then they told me that it was only good till 7. I guess the manager felt bad for me because he quickly changed his mind. We went to go eat and came back at 9pm only to find out that my bday cake was lost during the cleaning. At this point I was so mad I started hysterically laughing. The manager must have felt bad again because he gave us all a free round. We called it a night at 12. It was fun besides all the hiccups but it’s up to u if u want to deal with what i went through. I felt that for all the money I was spending they definitely did not treat me the way they should have. I guess you guys could be the judge.

I’ve been there before and had a great time but this girl Jennifer Garcia is a horrible manager. I tried to get bottle service and it took her 3 days to get back to me; over a week and a half to get all of the info I wanted, which ended up being too late. What I did get were really short emails that reminded me of a shitty text message instead of a response that says that this company wants to take care of their customers. I did not feel like this Jennifer girl cared at all about trying to help me out. I’m sure the float is a good spot, but if you go, lower your expectations with this girl. If you do want great customer service Lounge Six nails it! Very friendly, professional, and helpful. Check them out. Kaitlyn Engleman is going to be your POC. Good luck and have fun!

Came here for a bachelorette weekend and this is probably not going to give you a «best time of your life» type of experience. To be fair, our bride to be is more relaxed so the intention of coming here was to enjoy the beautiful weather with awesome music and drinks, which we did. However, there are somethings I picked up on that I think might be helpful for someone else looking for a great place to go with the girls. 1. This place definitely has a middle aged crowd. My group consisted of sorority sisters ages 22 – 29, so even for a chill vibe it was a bit too mature. No one really danced they just sat around the fire and looked at one another. Lol …however, a few of the girls from my group had no problem dancing alone. 2. The music is OKAY. The DJ played play music but nothing that would make anyone want to twerk. So if you’re looking for that type of night, this is not the place for you. 3. Drinks are actually not that bad. I had a tequila sunrise and it was only $ 10. Overall, it’s a beautiful lounge. The fire pit is a nice touch. It’s small but spacious. The drinks are yummy and the service was great as well. My rating is simply based on the overall experience we had which was GREAT. It’s just not a turn up location, per say, unless you and your group turn it into one that is… Who doesn’t want to be the life the party anyway?!

I came to Float on a Saturday afternoon expecting an afternoon with great music, nice sun on the rooftop and solid drinks. 5 stars for the rooftop. Great space and my friends and I found some available seating to lounge together. 2 stars for charging a $ 10 cover on a Saturday afternoon because we didn’t have a table or cabana. This isn’t Vegas. Its San Diego. There was no line when I showed up with my friends. 1 star for the service. I now know how guys feel when they go to bars. I had my cash out ready to buy my drink and time and time again the bartenders looked me over for the smelly 21 yo boys. 1 star for prices. $ 24 for a Double vodka soda? You are not in SF, New York or Vegas Hard Rock and the establishment is not that cool.

I’ve had some good times at Float which is why they get 3 stars instead of one. It’s a nice layout except for Intervention… but more on that in a second. My chief complaint about Float is that it was once 80 degrees outside, a weekend, and Float was closed. The Hard Rock front desk just shrugged and said there wasn’t enough business to justify it being open… yet every other pool club in San Diego is open? This told me that Float literally has no hours of operation and every visit was a gamble. Intervention…Half of Float is closed down for this event that happens every weekend during the summer. Why do they shut it down? The part they shut down includes all the seats. They want to make sure you pay to sit. So what about the dance floor? Possibly the ugliest dance floor in San Diego, looking more like the floor of a convention center than an upscale day club. It’s a beautiful location, an amazing view and an incredible design. The bartenders I’ve experienced when I could actually get in, were awesome. One thing Float does right is there a number of Southern California trees In the club. Not only do they provide shade but they provide homes to beautiful song birds that sing along with the EDM music. Nature mixed with urban = city oasis. The clientele is definitely global. What Float really shines is for private parties at night. If you can get in one, this is probably the best place in San Diego to have one at.

Float does a lot of intervention and many different events! I think the best event that I came here was for a meetup group event. Free booze until 10pm, it was really busy though and even when it hit a little pass 10, the bartender was a bit nice to let us still get our drinks in for free since he was swamp. I also came here for a Singles Masquerade event, and it turned out okay. What I do not like about Float is that there is no place to dance… more of a lounge. The crowd is a decent crowd. Nice views of gaslamp.

Ok. I basically just spent the entire weekend at Float. It’s not a huge space and there’s nothing crazy awesome about it but it’s super nice. There’s a pool, there’s a dance floor and there is a lounge area with firepits. I take back my first comment. Those things ARE actually pretty super awesome. And the drinks were crazy strong. I don’t know what I paid, or if I paid but I got my money’s worth of alcohol. That bartenders were nice. I’ve been to some bars where they stop looking at you in the eye and treat you like drunk scum but they kept it cool and fun throughout the night despite the slurring increase after every cocktail. The bathrooms were clean! And big! With plenty of stalls! I love bathrooms. Nothing I love more than a club with a good bathroom. The bathrooms itself are what pushed it to get the 5 stars. The music was great every night. The lights, the setting, and the people. It was a great crowd with great variety. Fun every night.

It’s been several months since I’ve been to Hard Rock and I forgot how fantastic Float is! I’m over intervention and that’s actually over for now anyway, the 207 club downstairs is a younger crowd and a lot of crazy people but Float is a classier and more sophisticated crowd. It’s beautiful up there, I know it’s been remodeled recently and first off you’ve got the beautiful weather in SD so it’s warm which people worry about when going to a roof top bar. There’s tons of comfy couches surrounded by fire places and heaters. It’s a place where you can sit, stand, chit chat and dance. This past Friday it was rockin, the music was fantastic and the dj played all the hit songs out right now, he was fabulous! It was a warm evening, people were dancing and it was all around just a good night. Yeh drinks are a little costy, around $ 11 for a basic drink like a captain and coke or a vodka tonic but no pricier than any other place downtown and much cheaper than the rooftop bar at Andaz/Ivy. The staff are friendly, the bathrooms are nice and if you feel like dancing til the wee hours of the night and want bottle service you can head downstairs to 207. This will be a great place to go to in the summer to grab a drink and sit poolside or enjoy listening to great music on a nice summer evening.

First time here. We were Betsy’s +10 on her Meetup guest list. The process to getting in reminded me so much like Vegas… Bouncers/Security everywhere thinking their important LOL Anywho FloatSD is beautiful. They have a casual vibe setup. Nice view of the convention center and the gaslamp area. I love it. FloatSD was just a little too dark… Like the power went out. The place is nice with the little Firepit and loungy couch — turn up the light a little so people can appreciate it the setup. The music was great… I think it was 90s/80s music night. The music brought back so much memories from my talent show days — I busted out my dance routine to Mariah Carey’s Fantasy! The meetup event included FREEDRINKS from 9−10pm! Can’t complain… Except the fact that it was Weak… Couldn’t taste the vodka however I still got a good buzz. The bartenders and everyone else that worked there were super friendly. The bartenders were thankful for their tips. I would definitely come back. Even during the day to hang by the pool with your girlfriends.

Eh, I’ve had better, sums up Intervention this past weekend. It’s not really a «pool» party. More like a bunch of people, crammed into uneven flooring, jumping up and down in the heat. The crowd was really ugly. Some of those people do not belong at day parties. I’m used to day parties being«beautiful people», and pool parties to be fun and splashing, etc. Intervention was neither of the above. I would recommend a revamp of the space to see if they can make it look nicer.

Hmmmm… this place is ok for me. I am sure on weekend it gets pretty packed & everyone comes out. For a place to hang out by a pool and have a drink there are a couple things. The pool is pretty small — like a wide lap pool. And the drinks are expensive & there isn’t a happy hour. For myself I wouldn’t go all the way to the HRH just to go to Float.
