We decided to visit this lounge to enjoy a pre-dinner drink with an awesome view and they delivered! Unfortunately we missed sunset but the city lights still made for a romantic and enjoyable experience. The cocktails were good! On this particular evening I noticed that there weren’t enough people bussing the empty glasses and trash from the tables and counters. This made for a consistent shuffle of items for customers, including ourselves, to find a good spot. But once we found our perfect spot we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

My boyfriend and I were early for our dinner reservation nearby and I remembered Altitude was around the corner. My boyfriend had never been so I thought it would be nice to grab a drink. It was a lot nicer than I remember. The last time I went was about 7 years ago when I just turned 21. The vibe was different, but I think it may depend on the night. We went on a Sunday and it was way more chill– good music but it wasn’t so loud that you can’t talk to the person next to you. Love the fire pits, the décor, and of course my favorite part: the view of downtown is gorgeous.

So reasons why I come here again and again is: –The view –The view –The view –Oh and the fact that they are one of the only trendy places open at 5pm throughout the week. I usually like to stop here before heading out to the other trendy places… which do not open until 9 or 10. The music is usually OKAY. Super random playlists from DJ’s usually consisting of ALL genre’s. The drinks are same price as everywhere else. The seating is AWFUL, good luck finding a spot however if you land a spot by the firepit it is solid. You can have a conversation with someone so it is not TOO loud and obnoxious which I like. This is a fun place to bring someone who has never been to San Diego. If there is an event at Petco Park it is even more fun as you can overlook. I think this place would be THEESPOT of san diego if they just went through a HEAVYDUTYREMODEL. I just feel they have so MUCH potential… and being an architectural designer I just see so many things that could liven this place up! The current design is just«blah».

Altitude Sky Lounge on the 22nd floor(the roof) opens at 5:00pm and rocks on until late into the night. You don’t have to be a guest here at the Marriott to gain entry to this venue, with young, middle aged and older folks alike. On my visit, there were a lot of couples, as well as both young and middle aged. I would say the men outnumber the girls/women here from all walks of life. Most women are in their early to late 30s. It’s a good mixer with varied genres of music. Something for everybody. If you are a guest, the hotel has a security system that allows you to use your room key card to access the venue, then you must pass bouncer’s scrutiny to let you in. They are some of the most reasonable, kind and funny ones I’ve run across. Bar keep are very generous with their pours; other drinks are strong and potent. I arrived late and on an empty stomach, so I didn’t stay long. But I did approach the bar, ordered my glass of Pinot Grigio, then found a sole spot around the fire pit. It was chilly, so this was appreciated immensely! I was sandwiched between 2 handsome guys and they started to talk to me. Nice convo and all, I opted for a second drink, taken by the waitress. The venue is dope. Colorful lights, fire pit(though near the end it got crowded as it got colder), so I suggest they might want to build a second one, since there is plenty of unused space. After meeting my cool new friends from Hawaii, and having a nice chat, I excused myself to my room and went down, got into my pjs, and ordered room service — steak and ice cream — LOL! Great place to people watch and meet new friends! Have fun! *****FIVEFABULOUSSTARS!!!

Came here on a Sunday night, it was not much going on around Gaslamp quarter, glad this place was packed and lively! Located on the rooftop of Marriot hotel, the views are definitely one of the best in town. Place is a lot bigger than I thought, lots of seatings too. So many couples on Valentine’s Day, this is a nice spot for date nights or friends hang out. We only stayed for a little while, hubby had Macallan 12 and I had lemon drop martini, both were great pours, prices were reasonable. This is probably one of the best lounges in Gaslamp, definitely drop by for a drink or two, you will love the views too!

Altitude was a great experience for us with one exception. The positives: views are phenomenal. You can see Coronado, the bridge, the bay, and a beautiful sunset — not to mention being able to see directly into Petco stadium. Drinks are great and not weak. We enjoyed the champagne raspberry mojito and old fashioned. Both were great. There isn’t food service directly at the bar, but it’s available via room service and not too difficult. Cheesesteak Fries were good! Our waitress was also great. The major negative: SMOKING. Ashtrays are everywhere. There were actually only a few smokers, but the smell… it felt like I traveled back in time where everyone smoked everywhere. Awful. I’m not sure how this even works with the no smoking rules, but even if it is okay per city code — BOO! Seriously — this is the only issue and reason that we will hesitate to return.

It was my first time at the Gaslamp District and I decided to visit Altitude with my boyfriend after dinner. The staff were very friendly and courteous which is always a plus. There also was no cover charge like in LA –___– You’re able to take the elevator right upstairs to the bar and order drinks right away. I had a champagne raspberry mojito which was divine. Strong and yummy :) I will definitely be back the next time I’m in San Diego!

Awesome place to hangout. Super quiet and peaceful during the week, and becomes a party on the weekends! Both are quite nice! Great bartenders and drinks! Pricing is quite reasonable for what you’re getting! Nice spot to take friends from outta town. Breathtaking view of the city.

We love coming here! We were staying at the Marquis and came over to have a couple of drinks. I actually came for the views! It was a Sunday evening in December and there weren’t a lot of people there. They had a game on the tv’s. The bartender was attentive and polite. The drink prices were about average. The whole ambiance of rooftop was amazing. The only downside, is we drove instead of walking, and had to have the car valeted. I’m not certain if we could have parked down the street, but my husband didn’t want to walk anyway. Overall, we really, really enjoyed ourselves and will visit anytime we are in town!

Love this place! Altitude Sky Lounge is a perfect spot to enjoy a delicious drink, hang out with some friends, and enjoy a fantastic view of San Diego! I came here for happy hour and ordered a raspberry mojito type drink as suggested by the bartender and it was absolutely delicious! This place is great for happy hours and has plenty of seating if you’re looking to chill and hang out. The staff is friendly and provided great service. The view from this place is awesome! One one side you can see the water and sunset and the other you get a full view of the Padres stadium. They also have heat lamps and a fire pit in case it gets chilly. They play some good songs and it’s overall a fun place. Definitely check it out if you are in the area you will not regret it!

We were in San Diego for the weekend and wanted to visit a roof top bar before we left. The other Unilocal reviews for this location were great so we decided to visit, and I’ve got to say that it lived up to the expectation. The bar has a dedicated elevator at night so you don’t have to wait while making stops for hotel guests. The lounge has multiple bars, both inside and outside. There was a large fire pit and while we did not sit near by it looked pretty cozy. The drinks are fairly priced; I got 3 mixed drinks and a beer for $ 40. The best part however, was definitely the view. The bar is located on the 22nd floor of the hotel, so it is quite high. On one side you get a 180 degree view of downtown, including Petco park. There is an opening on the other side, and while it is small, the view is amazing. Besides looking at lit up sky scrapers, you also have the view of other rooftop bars. Being able to overlook those bars shows you just how high you truly are, and just how much lower everybody else is :)

When out and about in the Gas Lamp Quarters, Altitude is a must! San Diego locals took us there during our visit. Friend touted Altitude as his all time favorite bar in SD. Of course, we had to take his word for it. I must agree, it was the best rooftop bar I’ve been to in a while. Not that I’ve been to many, but it’s too cold in the Bay Area and we hardly even have any rooftop bars over here. The weather is great, the view of downtown SD and Petco Park is awesome and the place was poppin’. The bar was posh but still had that chill SD vibe. They didn’t seem to have much of a dress code although some people were dressed up and others dressed down. No cover charge. Drinks mixed well and on the strong side. Crowd was mixed with locals and tourists of varied ages. Popular spot for parties and celebrations. They played 90’s hip hop and R&B that Saturday night we went. Two gripes about this place: 1) No smoking allowed but some people were smoking cigarettes bc they thought it was OK to do so since we were outside. No one enforced this. 2) Took about an hour wait in line just to take the elevator up to the roof. They only have one elevator going up and down there, so it took a long time. Docking a star because of this. Overall, a fun night out. Great place to check out with friends and enjoy the night! Go early to avoid long line if possible, otherwise bring patience. Located inside the Marriott.
