Came here for my bf’s graduation and it was pretty darn great overall. I’ve been wanting to try this spot out for the longest time and have heard such great things about it. After finally coming, I definitely understand why the restaurant is so popular — the food, ambience, and service is way up there. This spot is located in the heart of Downtown La Jolla so parking can definitely be tough! I believe there are valet opportunities nearby though if needed. However, since located in La Jolla and right next to the beach, the view within the venue is AMAZING, especially at night. The lights from La Jolla Shores as well as the moon illuminate the waves and it’s just a really tranquil and beautiful sight. I’m sure it’s equally beautiful during the day. View definitely enhanced the overall experience. Food wise, this place is really good. Some things that we ordered were the Steak, the Sword Fish Steak, Brussel Sprouts, and the Truffle Mac & Cheese. My boyfriend got the 16 oz steak and it was more than enough for him. He was kind enough to share some with me and the steak was juicy and really delicious. His family got steaks as well and seemed to enjoy it. I got the Sword Fish Steak and I’ve never had Sword Fish, but my first experience was great. The Sword Fish Steak is pretty much a humongous chunk of Sword Fish garnished with some crab meat and a sauce that resembles ceviche. I loved how soft the Sword Fish was and it tasted super fresh! I felt like they literally caught my sword fish at La Jolla right beforehand and brought it back and cooked it for me, haha. The Brussel Sprouts were large and well cooked and the bacon that comes with it is literally the best bacon I’ve had with brussel sprouts ever. Super crispy in a good way. And I’m not even a huge bacon fan. The Truffle Mac and Cheese tasted really unique and sweet and we really liked it. I’ve had that sort of Truffle Mac and Cheese at various locations and they always screw it up somehow, but Eddie V’s really perfected it. Due to my boyfriend graduating, I believe that Eddie V’s gave him some desserts on the house too? Not sure if it was actually on the house, but regardless, these desserts were sooo good and they even wrote Congratulations on the plates in Chocolate, so that was cute. Godiva chocolate cake is the best! I highly recommend that one. Ambience of this place is fancy shmancy pants, but I loved it. Dim lighting, nicely dressed servers and waiters, and the service is extremely professional and prompt. Was never even slightly dehydrated because they’re quick with water re-fills and such. Overall, I’m really pleased with my first experience at Eddie V’s and I believe it’s the perfect spot to bring someone on a date or to celebrate any nice event.

This place was absolutely amazing! Everyone there goes above and beyond to provide exemplary service! My wife and I had a FANTASTIC anniversary night out here! Everything was PERFECT, from the service, to the ambiance and live music, to the meal, to the complimentary anniversary dessert! I enjoyed the Chilean sea bass, and my wife had the seared ahi. We also shared some chilled shrimp and a side of broccolini with parmesean. All of which was SUPERB!!! Highly recommended!!!

We always sit at the bar, faster service and the live music is great! Bartender was super on top everything, setting us up for dinner, checking if we’d like another drink etc. accidentally put in an order with another bartender for an appetizer as soon as we sat down; more than likely missed it because it was super busy. Checked if the appetizer was coming out 15mins after we placed our dinner order and the main bartender helping us immediately spoke to a manager because he could see the concern on our face. Lady manager came to apologize and later took off the app. Regardless of the mistakenly not ordering our appetizer everything else was in point. Ordered: Titos martini X 2 = $ 22 Steak & lobster tartare = $ 18 Shrimp & crab salad = $ 16 12oz filet = $ 47 Broccoli = $ 7 We were missing Mastros Steakhouse and this probably the closest thing we have to it downtown SD. Definitely a local favorite spot with great ambiance!

Overall it was a great dining experience. Service was excellent. Appetizers Yellowfin Sushami– excellent as was the potstickers. Probably the best potstickers I have had. Scallops were very good according to my friend as was the medallions of beef said they were great. My ribeye was ordered as under medium and came out medium well. I went ahead and had it. The best finish was the Banana Foster Buttercake with butter pecan ice cream was unbelievably good. Huge portion to share with one ore two. All in all great

We ordered a variety of recommended dishes/from the lobster, shrimp, oyster and crab platter. To seabass entrée with sidings of crab rice and asparagus and for finale, Banana foster for dessert. Everything was sooooo good. The place is very nice and cozy with live music. Very conducive for unwinding after a day of attending lectures at a convention. Highly recommended

I was impressed with the food and services here. As soon as I walked up to the door, I was greeted by 2 friendly and professional hostesses.(I thought it was an automatic door since both doors were synchronized as they opened.) They complimented my St. John’s dress and another hostess walked me to my table. I was surprised to see the tablescape. They sprinkled rose petals on the table and left a bday card signed by the staff there. These small personalized touches makes a huge difference. Love the experience. We ordered steak, chicken other dishes. Unlike Donovons, the plate was hot and steak was tasty and cooked to perfection. The steak melts in your mouth. It’s reasonably priced.

Walking into this restaurant, I was first impressed with the elegant design and ambience. An incredible glass wine rack towers up the high ceilings. I suppose the only thing that would have made that more interesting would be people on wires whirling around to actually retrieve the bottles! They have jazz playing in the lounge 7 nights a week. We took a booth nearby and enjoyed the background music. Now, the food. I had the Chilean Sea Bass. Wow. It melted in my mouth. The portion size was incredible. I could barely finish it. But I did. I absolutely wouldn’t leave any of that delicious fish left behind. Our service was great. We arrived late to begin with and left slightly after closing and our graceful waiter just kept coming by and filling our wine glasses while my husband and I finished an engaging conversation. I was very impressed and love sharing positive dining experiences.

If not the swordfish at least have their crab cake, it literally just rips apart and it melts in your mouth. Most people will say the servings are small and it is pricey but everything we ordered tasted great. Inside it’s slightly dim but not too much where you can’t see anything. Seats are super comfortable and spacious enough where you are crowding next to another party. Their large twice baked potato is definitely enough for four people to share and yes, it’s as good as it sounds. Fried calamari didn’t disappoint either, I loved the spice they added to it. Be wary of the red chili peppers in the dish though, I say bite half to see if you can handle the spice. I’m guilty of taking one more extra of their chocolate«ovation» sticks they give when you leave(also yummy). Service is decent, food took awhile but it was Mother’s Day… Waiters were about 50/50, you hated some… Loved the others, Good experience overall.

Recently landed a new job with a very generous dinner per diem. I was in town for business and decided to try it on for size. What I learned is that while the amount I’m allotted for dinner is significant, it pales in comparison to the damage I can do when I’m hungry and eating alone at the bar. Evidently, I have no shame. What’d I order? Oh let’s see… Shrimp cocktail. These shrimps were larger than Arnold Schwarzenegger and far more tender. Not that I’d know what it’s like to bite down on the Iron Oak. The horseradish was ridiculous and now all other shrimp cocktails pale in comparison. Iceberg salad. I don’t know why steakhouses lure me in with this. It costs them pennies to put together but damnit it’s so good. So cold. Ice cold. NY Strip with peppercorn brandy sauce. NY strip steaks aren’t my usual – ribeye has my heart – but since I had a delicious ribeye from Mortons just a couple weeks prior, I mixed things up. Glad I did. Cooked a perfect medium rare with a crust you could bounce a penny off of. Unfortunately, the brandy sauce was weak. I understand not wanting to overwhelm the steak, but if the sauce isn’t going to taste like anything, then why bother giving me something to pour over an already great steak? Once the steak was completely devoured, alongside 2 Sidecars, I decided I didn’t hate myself enough. Ordered the berry cobbler. Destroyed it. Nice crust and the cast iron skillet is a good choice. A bright, tart cap to a heavy meal. Once I got my bill I realized my per diem would only cover 60%. I am gross. I know. Now I get why Brooks Brothers sells«Regal cut» shirts. Business men be making business trips and eatin New York strips till pants don’t fit.

First time here at this location; Came here for happy hour 3−630pm(only in the Eddie V Lounge) with my fiancée’ and her sorority line sister who was in town. Parking: –street parking available if you are lucky — $ 8 self park($ 4 with restaurant validation) -$ 11 valet This restaurant is gorgeous. Amazing structure, great feel and ambiance. Upon entering there was no hostess at the front so we helped ourselves to a table at the lounge. The lounge was very nice. Had one TV and live band playing in the corner. The happy hour menu consist of appetizers, cocktails, and wines that are all $ 10 we tried all the food items. –POINTJUDITHCALAMARI Kung Pao Style with Roasted Cashews and Crisp Noodles –nice portion enough for 4. not spicy. good flavors. but not worth $ 10 –STEAKANDLOBSTERTARTARE Truffled Steak Tartare and Chilled Fresh Maine Lobster with Toasted Baguettes –different. steak tartare was pretty good and the lobster was fresh. baguettes were perfect. –BATTERFRIEDOYSTERS Light Curry, Cilantro and Pickled Asian Cucumbers –a must try. small portion but amazing ingredients as well has presentation –POTSTICKERS Filled with Spicy Shrimp and Pork in a Light Soy Broth –you can pass on these. nothing special. not worth $ 10. rather go to Costco –SIDEOFPARMESAN&CHIVESFRIES –a must order if you’re looking for a snack. fried and seasoned perfectly. big portion. Romantic place for a celebration. We enjoyed our one year anniversary dinner here. I was able to get reservations the day of(Wednesday night). We were going to go back to Donovan’s but changed our minds last minute and wanted to try something new. So voila — Eddie V’s. Lovely table set-up– sprinkled with rose petals and an anniversary card signed by their staff. Cute. + Crab cake — omg wow. The texture/flavor of the breading was perfection… and I can’t even put into words how good the crab filling was. You can taste the quality of the crab in every bite. + 22oz bone in rib eye steak — boyfriend loves bone in rib eyes and Eddie V’s version was no exception. I had a bite and you could really taste the rub– ooOoh and the texture was great. Very nicely done. + side of Brussels sprouts with bacon — It was ok, but I’ve had better. Try another side. + Jumbo shrimp stuffed with crab — first of all, presentation is gorg! Loved every single bite and I would highly recommend this dish. + Godiva cake — my boyfriend’s allergic to bananas – otherwise we would’ve ordered their famous Banana Foster, BUT! Their Godiva cake is also amazinggggggg. Moist and chocolatey without being overly sweet. Had plenty of leftovers!

I think the prices for this place are way too high for the quality of their food. Even though they specialize in seafood, you can also order steaks if you’d like. As we waited for our appetizers, they give you complimentary bread to hold off for the main entrée. The bread was fresh out of the oven and it was mouthwatering! Probably one of the best complimentary breads I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Service was outstanding. On the table was a happy birthday card waiting for me. Also, our waiter checked on us often and they’re was always someone walking around to refill waters. I ordered the swordfish and it was pretty good, but I was expecting amazing!!! But it just wasn’t up to par especially not for the price itself. The fish was a bit dry for my preference and wasn’t seasoned well enough. I had to add on more salt/pepper to enhance the flavor. Since it was my birthday, they gave me a complimentary dessert which was delicious. Order the banana fosters, it won’t disappoint!

*****Banana ’ s Fosters as a Main Course!***** Steak and Seafood come a dine a dozen. No different than the other nice steak houses that serve up good steak and seafood with at least a 40% mark-up, the food here is good(especially the bone-in Ribeye). You get a great piece of meat here without the hassle of doing it at home and a very nice environment with live jazz and blues. What stands out here is the music, ambiance and having one of «the best desserts in San Diego» for under $ 13! ~Bananas Fosters-5 Stars! It was my second time eating here in four days and I decided to skip the regular menu all together. I went straight to the dessert menu and ordered what any 5 year old would order for dinner: 1) Bananas Fosters; and 2) Big fat glass of milk. The dessert platter was jammed pack with sticky and gooey delight including hand made whip cream, ice cream, and fresh sliced banana. Quality rum was poured atop the dessert and lit on fire. Every bite was just perfect. ~Price-5 Stars! While others at my table had bills well North of $ 60, this dessert and milk was about $ 12. The portion was no joke either… I couldn’t finish it even though it was my main course. Not only is this a deal, this Bananas Fosters, without a doubt, ranks in the top 5 I have ever had. This is a must and can easily be shared between two people! Bananas Fosters and Milk in San Diego. a must add to anyone’s bucket list!

We decided to try out this location for a little pre-party before out event in the HQ. We made it for Happy Hour luckily and was able to try a variety of options. We ordered our drinks and I was totally craving the side of Crab Fried Rice. I had it once at the La Jolla location and had to have it again. We all dug into the pot of rice. The chef had a very heavy hand in the soy sauce or salt. It was so salty!!! We were going to return it but we had an event to rush to. Very disappointing. I did take home the leftovers and mixed it with regular rice, which definitely took out the saltiness. We sat at the bar and it was a slow night on a weeknight. The service was stellar though. Our bartender was so friendly and made sure we were taken care of.

At the seaport village Unilocal event this past summer I was fortunate to receive 3 complimentary appetizers and Eddie V’s let me use all 3 in one visit last night. We tried the calamari appetizer and the crabcakes. I still think a great dinner would be to order the crabcake app with a veggie side and call it a day! This time we tried main courses that we hadn’t had before… mainly because the Louisiana redfish is no longer offered. All 4 dishes were outstanding but my 2 favorites were the panko crusted sole in lemon butter sauce and the shrimp stuffed with crab. Next time I’ll order those for myself… they are surprisingly filling if you also have an appetizer like we did. The chicken was also a huge portion and extremely moist and flavorful in a mushroom style sauce. The swordfish had to be the juiciest I have ever tasted and the avocado with lump crab on top complimented it well. Not sure it needed the sweet chile sauce… might have been better with a lime butter vinaigrette instead. I also learned that I like gin… tried the classic Aviator cocktail and it tasted like a refreshing lemonade with a bit of kick. All of the servers… from the bar to the main dining room are outstanding. Asked my 16 year old nephew if he preferred Roy’s or Eddie V’s and he said… no comparison… even without the view… Eddie’s.

3.5 One word: FANCY! I’m so FANCY. You already KNOW! Who that who that?! I-G-G-Y! So Alexis was in charge of Thanksgiving dinner plans and she said this place is just like Wildfish in Newport Beach so I knew we couldn’t go wrong! This place is even fancier than WF! We made RSVPS a week and a half before but it still didn’t matter because they were running WAY behind! It was so packed it was standing room only! Tons of people standing around waiting for their name to be called, the bar was packed, every seat in the house was packed too! We were a bit disappointed by that since we were on time, not to mention standing around a CF is a headache in itself, tons of people bumped me which was annoying! Maybe 25 minutes later we got called, it felt like an eternity because Alexis was wearing heels and her feet were killing her! I am so grateful we got a booth(without asking) instead of those round tables packed in deep! Within minutes are server came by(super friendly) he was able to handle multiple tables! I hate seafood so I just ordered sides and ate tons of crack bread and butter! –Sauteed Spinach with garlic and Parmesan cheese: DELICIOUS! I couldn’t stop eating this! Something about the cheese with spinach just took it to another level! –Crab Fried Rice: Yes I picked around the crab and ate the rice, this is a classic, you can’t mess this up! It’s always delicious! –Potatoes Au Gratin: MMM! Creamy, cheesy and ooey gooey! I really enjoyed this dish! Anything with potatoes and cheese I’m a fan of! Everything from start to finish was excellent! They have their staff trained properly when it comes to high volume situations! I’m a fan!
