I went here yesterday for a night cap and im really tired of Cotixan. The service and food at Cotixan has become bland. I decided to hit this place up cause its only a block away. I ordered my go to carne asada burrito. At the register they display this huge 5 lb vurrito callled the mecca. I asked if this humongous burrito is part of a challenge. The girl said in July it will be a eat it and its free. So all you Unilocalers who think you can handle this behemoth, come on down! The carne asada i ordered is much better than cotixan and now i have somewhere else to go. Only thing is, this place isnt open 24⁄7. Ohh well. See pic for the mecca

New ownership so we thought we would give them a try. They are located in the Target shopping center on the westside next to Bobalicious and a nail salon. We walked in for breakfast and there were a couple patrons enjoying their food. We noticed that they served a longanisa burrito. My friend had ordered it and before we ordered it ourselves we wanted our friend to try it. Once he cut into it, all the greasy started pouring out. I was disgusted. The longanisa was good, but super fatty. Forget it. My husband then ordered me an egg, cheese and guac breakfast burrito and added carne asada. When he picked up my order, the lady misunderstood what my husband ordered. She had thought he wanted an egg, cheese and guac burrito and a carne asada burrito. She kept arguing until my husband had to take out the burritos and explain that the carne in one burrito needed to be placed into the breakfast burrito. After explaining it 3 times, she finally got it. Oy… Please communicate clearly to the staff or you may get the wrong order. When we got our new order, everything was all good. The meat was actually tasty and I enjoyed my burrito. It was too large for me to eat in one sitting so saved the rest for later. Free chips!

I’ve visited twice out of curiosity(flautas, then $ 1 Taco Tuesday & longganisa. For this last trip, D’Sotos has the dubious distinction of making want to vomit my food & giving me the runs from their crappy food. I’d write a longer review, but relative to other Mexican places in Mira Mesa like Cotixan, Vallarta’s, El Patron, and Habaneros, it’s sadly clear why this place is never as busy as its competition. Food is below average, not priced competitively, and adds insult to injury by still following the archaic practice of charging $ 0.50 for each card transaction. If the food didn’t make me explode like a human quasar, I *might* have recommended this place for their Tuesday dollar tacos because it’s not busy. But, they’re mini-street tacos that have far too much onion & greens. For the same price in the same plaza, sadly even El Torito’s Taco Tuesday is a better tasting deal. For a few cents more, El Patron’s Taco Tuesday beats this place, but it’s usually crazy busy. I came here out of curiosity, and left full of regret.

The hunnie and his brother ordered longanisa fries. Was disgusting, bland and had no flavor. Now they’re both sick with upset tummies and throwing up. I tried the longanisa burrito before and it’s just a breakfast burrito with onions. Was pretty basic i was expecting more flavor.

Really upset at Customer Service here, I ordered a carne Asada and bacon breakfast burritos… Carne Asada was loaded with mostly beans… And instead of the bacon we got sausage I told the lady. And she argued with me I asked for sausage! I was not going to argue over something that is pointless ! On an other occasion before this experience I had ordered a burrito which was great and when I asked if I can have some of the free tortilla chips she said NO it’s for dine in only:(well today as I was eating there a guy comes in to pick up his order and put a bunch of chips in his bag… To go! Lady did not say anything! Love the food but the Customer service is not good, which is disappointing. I will simply not comeback again!!!

This used to be our favorite taco shop. Very disappointed on our recent visit to find the shop had changed ownership and the quality of food and service has diminished. Less meat in the tacos and the carnitas was very very greasy.

Great location when you’re hungry after shopping at Target or Babies R Us. With so many taco shops in Mira Mea, it’s easy to overlook this stop. Great menu selection, pretty consistant traffic coming in, good salsa bar, 2 TVs and as mentioned before good location. Not sure if I would drive here on it’s own, I may need to try a couple more of their items to decide that, but it is going to be one of my stops if I’m already in this strip mall and want to grab a bite to eat. Even with the amount of traffic that came in, I was surprised to see so little reviews on this place. Most people I saw came and got their food to go, so there were always available tables to sit at.

Prelims: located in the same plaza as the giant Target, Smart N Finals, Bobalicious, etc., D’sotos is a relatively small restaurant with absolutely no effort into ambiance, décor, etc. There are a ton of parking and they have taco Tuesdays(although be wary — the ad shows 3 tacos pictured for $ 1 but it actually is $ 1 per street taco, which is a bit high) which is nice. They have free chips, salsa, and hot carrots, which is pretty cool too. Service is standard — you go up front, you order, you grab the food when it comes out, you eat. I ordered 6 tacos — 3 adobada and 3 carne asada. The tacos came piping hot, but took a while. While the adobada tacs had the right color and flavor, they were utterly bone dry, as if they were sitting under a heated lamp for a long time. They had that weird crusty texture to them, and the flavor appeared to be baked right into that hard texture. The carne asada tacos were pretty decent; while not the best, it was pretty good and I thought that they were nicely textured, not too hard, but well seared with that nice carne asada flavor. TL;DR Decent price for taco Tuesday with average flavor.

Burrito was a lot better this time around. Only thing that bugged me a bit is that we called 10 mins ahead and they still had to make it once we got there. But food quality was all there!

Ordered a carne Asada burrito with meat and cheese only! Cashier told the cook twice, only MEATANDCHEESE! Ended up getting a burrito with meat cheese and sour cream, not just a little bit pretty much a whole tub worth of sour cream. There was no one else in the shop so it’s not like the cook was too busy to comprehend! Very dissatisfied!

I went there with a friend, to share a meal. I decided to give him my money to buy the food and when I went up to ask for a water cup, and the worker said that I’m not aloud to get a water cup or free chips cause I didn’t buy anything. Very selfish

Best california burrito(added guac) I have ever had. The rest of the food needs to catch up but it’s a good start. The Carne asada was perfect, Not to fatty but not too lean. The customer service and cleanliness weren’t great but if I cared about that I would never eat quality Mexican fast food

Went here for taco Tuesday. Ordered 2 Mulitas and 1 adobada taco and a large horchata. As I was pouring my horchata into the cup, I saw three dead flies in my cup, and the cashier lady didn’t bother apologizing that there was flies in their beverage dispenser. Really good customer service *Sarcasm. I wouldn’t go back here for the horchata but their tacos are pretty good, can’t complain. I wouldn’t say it’s the best and I wouldn’t say it’s the worst. But, it’s a good place if you’re around Mira Mesa. But this would probably be my last resort to be honest.

Their carne asana was so damn good! Not greasy whatsoever and they are really lenient on the meat portion. Thank you for the great customer service and quality food

First time I ordered here, they confused beef with chicken… needless to say, there goes that meal. Second time I ordered here, I got chicken but because I order soft taco instead of crunchy taco, my meat/veggies were spilling everywhere… they could of put two soft tacos per taco for the price that I paid… I recently moved here from NYC and hands down, best Mexican food-ever! Even if it’s from the taco trucks… Oh, & for those white meat lovers, their chicken is dark meat. For the price of $ 2.50 per taco, I would serve my customers white meat.(Speaking from a previous restaurant owner perspective-myself) 3 stars because of free homemade chips and salsa bar. Now that was the best part of my meal.

Another taco shop in San Diego… these aren’t hard to find. But I was impressed with the cleanliness of the salsa bar as well as the selection. They have a couple of red salsa’s, along with a chunky green. But the BEST part was that they also had fresh jalapenos/onions as well as carrots. I ordered 2 crunchy beef tacos and they were pretty standard. Filled to the max with meat, cabbage, and cheese. The salsa’s were perfect to top it off. They also have free chips. All in all, it was a good lunch!

$ 7 bucks for a super burrito is really on the expensive side. But there’s free chips and very tasty salsa to be had so that’s a nice plus. The cheese inside the burrito was not fully melted but that’s not a major problem. also do catering.

I gave this place a second chance today just as I said I would in my first review. I’m happy to report that they earned another star. I got two tacos to go: Pollo Asado and Carnitas. They both looked pretty good. I realized that the Pollo Asado was the very same chicken meat that they put in the salad that I got on my first visit. It is basically marinated in weak sauce; not much flavor. Tender pieces of chicken, but just needs more seasoning. The carnitas carried both of these tacos to another star. It was flavorful and tender with some edges that were extra cooked for some texture. And of course there were some fatty parts because I could see some of the greasiness oozing out from the corn tortillas. Not too much grease, just enough to notice and add some flavor. Lesson of the day: skip the Pollo Asado and get the Carnitas.
