Stay away from DeWalt products, people like store manager Dave Stelmachowski give DeWalt a bad name. Brought in a 35′ tape measure with lifetime warranty, and he refused to cover it, saying instead I have to buy a new one at discount. 1) He said lifetime does not mean forever. I brought a receipt, and it was only 1.5 years old. 2) He said he never had a problem with his tape measure. He shouldn’t take his personal experience into a different product he bought many years ago. 3) He said there is no obvious wear and tear, so it must be damaged some other way. I hardly used this tape measure, and it shows that looks brand new and it is obviously a defect that tape would break. That is the whole point of a warranty, to cover defects, not wear and tear. The previous person said he would exchange it if I brought in a receipt, but store manager said he is overriding that decision. He was rude and making all kinds of excuses. If they can’t even honor the warranty of a tape measure, how would they for other tools. He just wants to make a sale.
