This is my second visit tried this place about 4 months ago and was not too impressed with thier food. It was decent and the portions were enough to say it was worth going if you wanted Chinese food. So, i wanted Chinese food for lunch this past Friday and decided to go back. there were a couple of things changes I noticed: A) the food was not hot, it was more between hot and warm, like it was sitting under some lights in the kitchen. they probably make in huge batches then but under the lights to keep warm. B) The portion size was much less, I had more rice than the Thai Chicken and even the soup serving was about 75% full. also, their prices went up almost $ 1.00 from where they were last time i was there. paid $ 8.25 for the Thai Chicken. I need to find a better deal for lunch, when it comes to Chinese food!

Sure they give you decent sized portions, but the taste is kind of meh! Not much taste to the food. I got the garlic chicken meal and didn’t taste much garlic. It was kind of watery and the bell pepper pieces were huge. Don’t like big bell pepper pieces. Hot and sour soup was kind of bland and tasteless. Can’t say that I’ll come back here. Plus the food court area was hard to find a seat. Had to ask if we could share a table. Parking sucks. The lines are way too narrow.

So the food I ordered was pretty good… but they took a really long time to make it. I was waiting about 15 – 20 minutes and in a food court on my lunch break that is just not acceptable! So I was impressed with getting hot and sour soup, 1 entrée, rice, salad, an egg roll and some weird fruit cup for $ 7.00… but I really could have done without the honey dew and cherry tomato… just odd, in a fruity kinda way! Not sure if I will waste half of my lunch hour standing around waiting for my food from this place again

I just randomly picked this place out of the rest of the restaurants in the food court. Chinese food seemed like a good idea, but this place was NOT good at all. The orange chicken had some peppers in it, but overall it was a bland orange marmalade. The rice itself had no flavor either, sure I had brown rice, but a little salt or pepper could’ve gone a long way. The only good part of the food was the eggroll that seemed to be quite alright. I don’t know what it was about this place, but the food was not a delicacy at all. No flavor and/or bland tastes make me NOT want to eat here again.

Only had the shrimp springs rolls combo($ 5.99). Although I liked the veggie tempura and slices of honeydew, the spring rolls were extremely mediocre. They tasted very cold, as if they’ve been sitting in the fridge for too long. At a glance the rolls looked big, but they had too much vermicelli and not enough veggies or shrimp inside. Good news is the peanut sauce was tasty, so at least it wasnt a total loss. Service was lackluster, but it’s basically a to-go type of place. I liked how everything was packaged, and my order came out in a timely manner. However, I’ve seen other people waiting much longer than I have. A bit pricey For Chinese, especially since their portions are smaller than average.

It recently went through some sort of management change or something. Most of the menu is the same, but they streamlined their portions for profits. Twice. When they first swapped the portions were still pretty big, and they gave you some pretty good side items too. You got an egg roll and fried shrimp, along with their standard rice/soup/salad. That has since been changed again, and you now get some STUPID cup of fruit/tomato in place of the shrimp. Overall the price is on par with most other places, and they are pretty fast. The food is still decent, but I go there a lot less now with the new smaller portions. The basically took what used to be a value, and replaced it with a cup of sad looking fruit.

Recently changed management, or the menu? Portions are smaller, prices are higher, no more free drink, and they substituted some of the space in your to-go box with weird things like tomatoes and melon. Used to get the HONEYCHICKEN every time I came here!.. but now it’s just impossible to chew and it’s 95% fried batter. Tried the GARLICCHICKEN to be healthy. ehh I guess it’s sufficient to keep me breathing for another 5 hours of work until I can go home. MONGOLIANBEEF is typical. The annoying thing is that they put the side salad in the same box as the rice. so you end up eating heated salad. yuck.

There are better options in the food court, so avoid this place. Although it is very apparent that they use the freshest ingredients possible(except for their salads), the food is cooked poorly. The ingredients seem to be cooked separately, and then hastely thrown together before serving. This has lead to dishes, where some ingredients are cooked well and are hot, while others are at room temperature. The hot/spicy dishes were not hot/spicy and instead they just had a few hot peppers thrown into the bottom of the serving dish; they were not even mixed in. The salad that was offered with their dish as part of the combo looks as though it came out of a bag, pre-made. It also spilled over directly onto the main dish.

A recent addition to our lunch rotation. The food is pretty decent. Definitely 3⁄5. I’d say its on par with something like Panda Express, depending on the dish. Its not going to have the same taste and feel as a «real» noodle house, but its pretty tasty. The food is ok, for lunch on a weekday is good. I wouldn’t want to have it for dinner. The service is ok also. If there’s no one around its pretty quick(they cook, or at least warm up, the food after you order so that takes time). If they’re busy be ready for a bit of a wait. Lunch specials come with a drink and salad and soup. I tend to skip the salad and get an egg-drop soup. Bottom line, its convenient, reasonably inexpensive, and tastes decent. Thats kept us coming back.

Since it opened a short while ago we’ve made it a regular stop in the Sorrento Valley lunch rotation. Haven’t seen the dour asian dude, the two asian girls who usually take orders seem pleasant enough, if very quiet. But chances are you came here for food, not chatty asian girls and I recommend the Green Pepper Beef. Generous helping of beef and rice together with salad and a soup if you are so inclined. $ 8.12 inclusive of tax. Yeah, it’s not something you are going to write home about and tell your grandmother but in a sea of ever increasing vegetarian places, it’s an island worth hopping on to.

This is a good lunch place if you are in the area. I really like the salt and pepper tofu, plus it is cool that you get a soda, rice, salad and soup all for the price of your entrée. The salt and pepper tofu comes to $ 6.84 which is not bad at all. I wish every place had those meal deals!

I feel like piping up. Although I’m not a fan of fast Chinese food too often(the usual complaints: too greasy; too battered), and although I’ve only tried one dish at Delicacy, I like it a lot. I always look forward to getting the stir-fried fish. The fish is lightly floured(not breaded or battered) and tossed with a heap of tasty vegies. The chunks of fish are kept large, a mouthful or two or three apiece, which I think aids in keeping the white flesh moist and tender. I was more than happy with the amount of rice on the side and have also enjoyed the sides of salads and soups. Yesterday I had the chicken and corn chowder, and I felt like both of the titular ingredients came out in a subtle and filling way.

They have problem with their delivery service. On their banner, they say they will do free delivery for orders over 20 bucks. Well, when it comes to rainy days, when me and my co-workers called, they raise it to a 25 bucks minimum. The general attitude I got is that they don’t want to do the delivery. This is really bad experience for me and my co-workers. Seriously, if you come to this food court where Delicacy situated, you will find a lot of quality food there and they are all right next to each other. There’s indian food, mexican food, greek food… comparing to those, delicacy’s food is really average, and u don’t have to have them. We actually won’t buy it from them if it is not because of the«Free Delivery» thingy, but it just vanished when u have a bad weather.

«Delicacy» is a term used more often to describe caviar or escargot, not Chinese combo platters and boba drinks. Our hero thought it was definitely a misleading restaurant name after tasting the greasy Americanized Chinese food this place served up. The manager/owner at this restaurant takes the cake for being the angriest Asian man in the entire Sorrento Valley food court. Come on a bad day when they are backlogged on lunch orders and you’ll see him furiously taking orders and scribbling bills with his brow furrowed. It may be that they are understaffed or not up to speed on the menu items since they have only been open less than two weeks, but their wait times for food are quite a bit longer than average for the food court. It could also be that even though he’s Chinese, the manager has stooped to Americanizing his food with orange chicken and sweet and sour sauce to cater to Western tastes. As for the food, combo plates during lunch are available with tofu, chicken, beef, shrimp, or all 3 types of meat for between $ 4.99 to $ 6.99. Dinner prices are a bit higher after 1:30PM(which seems like an odd time for«dinner»). There’s 18 different combo styles such as Sichuan, Kung Pao, lemon, or cashew. As a general rule of thumb, the more Chinese the name of the plate, the better it will taste. For example, the Yu Hsiang(#8) plate tastes a lot better than the curry(#10) plate. A word of advice from our hero: take the noodles instead of the rice with the combo plates. Taking into consideration that it’s in a food court and intentionally a very Americanized style of Chinese food, it’s somewhat passable and a cut above chains like Panda Express. Now where are the complimentary fortune cookies??? PROS: — Cheap $ 1.99 boba drinks. — Interesting Chinese style salad that comes with combo meals. — They are the only Chinese restaurant in the Sorrento Valley food court, which fills an important food niche. CONS: — The food is fairly oily overall. — They don’t seem to give enough noodles/rice in their plates and there is a lot of meat left over after finishing the staple rice or noodles.
