County Center/Little Italy Trolley Station

The County Center/​Little Italy trolley stop is pretty basic. It was the one closest to my hotel while visiting in SD so I made some use of it. Only the Green Line serves this station and they stopped here somewhat sporadically. But it is the closest to the popular eateries in this area.
If you are trying to get around town more quickly, Santa Fe Depot which is one stop down and just a few blocks away would be the best place to go since a couple trolley lines stop there.

County Center/​Little Italy is another great station along the green line. It’s getting a make over so it’s a bit crazy but it’s a wonderful spot to quickly get in and out of Little Italy. I know once the construction is done, this will look even better than it already was. It sure helps beat traffic having the trolley come along this area! I would like to see some free parking here, since I would be more inclined to park here and take the trolley further into downtown to avoid traffic but still be close to my car. Overall though, this is a pretty good trolley station.

This trolley stop is located downtown near our hotel. It was only a few blocks and very convenient to get around San Diego!
The trolley station was very clean and well lit. They have a metro card station where you can purchase your fair. There are route maps so that you can map out your trip. This line was the green line that our station was on. Once the trolley arrived they have a push button system that opens the doors of the red trolley. Once on the trolley there is a lower areas that has some seating but mainly for standing. The higher (step up level) has seats for patrons to sit for their ride. I have NEVER been on a clean metro (trolley) like this and I am a frequent rider of the NY, DC, and MD metro and subway. If I am ever in San Diego I will be a regular commuter on the trolley system. One of the best I have ever seen.
It was a little weird that you pay for a fair and no one checks it. My boyfriend says they do random checks and you can be fined a hefty fine. With way it’s not too pricey so just pay it and be honest about it. The price for a day pass if you already have a reusable access card is only $ 5. Not bad and better than renting a car.

The construction is still going on next to it but you can still walk easily to India Street or the water. It is a quiet little stop that deserves a high rating if only for how close it actually is to where it says it is. Be careful and walk where you are supposed to because cars need to get by the construction and sometimes it is difficult to see when pedestrians decide to forgo the sidewalk.

A standard trolley station… poor info and signage in my opinion, but that goes for all of the MTS and Coaster in general. This is only a trolley stop and only for the Blue Line (with the exception of special events). Good access to the administration building, the waterfront, and Little Italy. But if you want to get to downtown you need to stay on south towards the Transit Center, or switch to the Orange Line at America Plaza. But it stays pretty close to being on time which is a good thing.

This station is served by the Blue Line and Red Line special event service between Qualcomm Stadium and downtown. This station is also within the downtown discount fare zone.
Ahh, now the Trolley starts to get interesting. The station takes its name from being in close proximity to San Diego County’s administration building, but more interestingly, Little Italy.
San Diego has an ethnic Italian district that dates back over a century. It was also the home of San Diego’s ethnic Portuguese residents. The residential make-​up has gentrified, but the Italian character of the neighborhood remains.
The station is close to the water, and is a few blocks east of the Star of India ship.
