Cheap Handimen Construction

I get the feeling some people (certainly not the case for many) end up as general contractors because they aren’t good at anything else… well, this is the case here, and not only were they imcompetent, but also deceiptful and charged for many things they didn’t do. They threatened to put a lien on my property when I pointed this out. Angelo is far from being an angel. Stay clear from these guys!!!

I called CH construction to do a simple plumbing job. after talking with this guy on the phone, i had reservations about going forward with the appointment. luckily, then next day when the job was supposed to be done, he called and told me that he needed to move the date of the job as his guys were still busy with another job. felt blown off but, it was a blessing in disguise. we reschedule for the 2^nd time. well he called me back again and this time, he was ruder on the phone so i just said, «forget it. don’t bother coming.» Good thing because after reading these reviews, i think i saved myself a lot of trouble.

I used this guy, Angelo, to do some wood repair work for a termite clearance to close on a home. Needless to say, he charged me for the drive to my place and charged me the hourly rate for going to Home Depot for getting wood. Never mind an actual estimate. He will give an excuse for charging more or any delays. I thought I was okay with his fascia replacement and decking replacement but it was not a thorough check. Well, 3 months later, it is separating from the original fascia and is not even the correct sizing on top of that. I had two separate home inspectors comment on how it was not done properly and poorly done on the replacement areas.
It would be one thing to get what you pay by going cheap and complain. This guy charges top dollar, NOT cheap, and you still get shoddy work. If this is the standard for a LICENSED CONTRACTOR, San Diego residents are screwed for getting a decent deal.
Now, I will need to hire another contractor to clean up some of this work.
NEVER AGAIN! Highly disappointed with this company.

I hired Angelo to fix a small plumbing issue to bring a water heater up to code. This guy is unethical, to say the least. The job took him 15 minutes to complete, yet he charged me for 2 hours labor ($ 90 plus parts)…“what it would cost me to go to Home Depot if I didn’t have the parts in my truck.” I paid it because he’s kind-​of intimidating. One star is too many. I will never use him again.

I finally found a trustworthy handyman who fixed all this guy’s work! I paid this guy $ 1100 for 52 hours (about half of what I paid this first guy) and he did an awesome job! He fixed all the drywall done by Cheap Handimen, he fixed the carpet done by them (the tackstrip was not even attached to the concrete and one piece was upside down believe it or not), and he did a ton of electrical work for me. I feel more cheated than ever by Cheap Handimen.
