Went there for brunch yesterday and looks like they were closed. Their website has«Sorry We’re Closed» sign; phone# is disconnected. I’m so bummed. This was my fav brunch place. Are they permanently closed???

Came in for Sunday Brunch. We made reservations, but none were necessary since it was not busy. We had the option to sit either inside or to dine on the patio. We opted for the patio since you have a nice view of the park across the street. Very serene setting in a quiet neighborhood. Ordered the following: –Peach Bellini($ 7) –Mimosa($ 7) –Eggs Benedict with Salmon($ 12): OMG, mouthgasm… GETTHIS!!! DELISH!!! –Veggie Omelet on egg whites($ 9.50): Pretty standard. This is something you can get anywhere. Go for their specialty menu items. On another occasion, came to celebrate a special occasion — HAPPYBIRTHDAY!!! — and we decided to do the 5-course tasting menu. $ 65 pp for 5 course tasting menu $ 29 pp wine pairing –Scallop with purple cauliflour purée: I don’t care for cauliflour, but I did like the scallop. –Seared duck foie gras, du puy lentils, bacon, quail egg: MMMM, foie gras… The sunny side up quail egg made the dish! YUM!!! –Pan roasted wild turbot with truffled gnocci, mushroom velute: This fish was delicate and moist, esp with the mushroom velute sauce. –Beef tenderloin, green bean salad, parsnip duo: The beef was a little tough for my palate so I didn’t really enjoy it as I’m used to my ribeyes and filets. –Pineapple tart tartin, coconut ice cream: I prefer my desserts to be chocolate. Ehhh… We were also given little sugar coated gelatin bite sized desserts to complete our meal. The wine pairings were very well explained with each entrée that came out and you are able to share a pairing if you desire. Overall, it was a great experience and would recommend it for a special occasion. This is a small restaurant located in the Del Sur area with ample parking on the street and nearby lot. Located in the boonies, but a great little place for a little getaway meal.

4 stars for the food, 2 stars for the service. I had the kobe burger, wife had the scallops with eggs(this is during Sunday lunch). Kobe burger — the patty looked like it was machine formed(no big deal), but it was juicy and tasty. Burger served with sauteed mushrooms, bacon, and 2 eggs sunny side up — my type of burger! The only problem was that the bun was just too small for the burger. I appreciate a healthy patty to bread ratio on a burger, but this was just too much. the bottom bun was basically soaked, so you couldn’t really pick up the burger to eat it. I love eggs on my burger, so that was perfect, but as the yolk broke and oozed all over the place(which is the best part), the bun got even more soaked and just disintegrated. Even with a bun that was twice as thick, you still have a healthy burger to bun ratio. The burger tasted very good, but definitely would have been one of the finer burgers I’ve had if they used a more appropriate bun. The scallops and eggs with hollandaise sauce were really good. Scallops were cooked perfectly, and everything went very well together. The service is nice and professional, but they aren’t very attentive. There weren’t that may customers in the restaurant, and you have to wave at them for them to come to your table. The Unilocal $ 20 for $ 10 is a good deal to try this restaurant.

Went on a Tuesday night, which is typically a slow night for restaurants, but they were more that half full. We had the prix-fixe with the pairing which was a great deal. We also had a Unilocal Deal which made it even better. The Beef Bourguignon was excellent, as was the Filet of Sole. The appetizers and dessert were good, but nothing special. The restaurant is a little hidden from the main road, so just park in the shopping complex and walk toward the middle of the stores.

We’ve been going here off/on for a few years so we’ve experienced the old owner and new owner. This review is for our most recent visit. The new owner isn’t very warm or friendly… in fact, he seems completely annoyed to even have to be cooking for you! The food is good but the portions are getting smaller and smaller. We came here recently on a Friday night… and there was only one other table seated! That was a bit uncomfortable and our waiter tried to make a joke that Saturday night was going to be packed… nice try! I was very excited to try the Farewell to Foie Gras menu(it’s my favorite food ever… not very PC but so delicious) but was disappointed in the $ 80 price tag for what I was told would be tasting portions. I realize Foie Gras is expensive but that seems a bit ridiculous. So I ordered an appetizer of the seared Foie Gras($ 22) and a beet salad($ 11). The Foie Gras was delicious… very happy with the presentation and taste. Unfortunately, the beet salad as not very delicious… seemed like something that could be served at an Applebees(canned beets in a French restaurant… absurd!). The other guests in our party liked their food but no one raved about it… don’t think we’ll be rushing back any time soon.

Should preface this that if I had written a review the first few times I’d been here, it would have been a 5 star review– In the past, the service was stellar and the food was incredibly memorable. Ok, fast forward to April 2012– we went on a Sunday for brunch– this was my first time there for brunch. The menu selection was ok– various types of poached egg dishes– the usual hollandaise sauce, and some standard yogurt and fruit sides. Nothing out of the ordinary. We ordered some beignets– their version is a small plate with 4 small pieces dusted with powdered sugar. Each was approppriately crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. And a bit more elegant than the Café du Monde version. But not outstanding. The service was a bit disappointing– everyone was very professional and curteous, but not terribly attentive. Everyone had to ask for our coffee cups to be refilled. Overall, it did not live up to the expectations I had from previous visits. I would not go out of my way to visit again.

My friend and I came here Friday, 3÷2÷2012, for my friend’s birthday and was sadly disappointed that the fix price menu was only available Monday through Thursday. However this didn’t take away too much from our experience. I came here a handful of times for dinner and every single time I’ve been impressed. The place is small and cozy with a nice décor. The servers are attentive and friendly. The menu hasn’t varied much if not at all since I first been there and the wine list is nice and extensive. Ordering wine by the glass is very limited though. I know they changed the chef about 6 months ago but I’m not sure if there has been much of a change in the flavor since then. My friend and I started with the Truffled Pommes Frites served in a large conical basket. The fries were thinner than I expected, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, had a nice truffle oil flavor, and had layers with shaved Parmesan. However, this time there were no truffle shavings on top, but it still was good. My friend ordered the beef bourguignon which was delicious. The main thing I loved about that dish was how tender fall-off-the-bone the meat was. The garlic pomme mousseline had a nice garlic flavor and texture and the vegetables were nicely cooked. I ordered the New Zealand Lamb Shank which came on the bone and was equally as good. There were a few tougher parts in the meat, but in general this came out tender and delicious. The cous cous was nicely cooked, but was overshadowed by the amazing carrot purée. I couldn’t stop eating it! For desert we shared a Pinapple Tart Tatin, which was warm, sweet, tangy, and delicious. I really enjoyed the complementing coconut ice cream on top. I though it was really sweet that they took the extra time to write«Happy Birthday» on the plate in chocolate sauce. The food I’ve liked previously was the duck fois gras which I remembered tasting heavenly as it was perfectly seared with a nice crust to it. Overall, this is a quaint place, great service, and good food. I’ve enjoyed every dinner here and will be back for more.

We have eaten here many times in the past and always had a decent experience with the food quality. However… The portions are completely unacceptable. We had valentines dinner, spent over $ 200 per couple and left starving. When we shared this with the server she said that for an extra $ 15 the chef would make me some extra pasta and mushrooms. I am sorry but after spending. $ 200 on a fixed menu and being sat like sardines I was offended. Give a decent portion for god sake or at least, serve your customer $ 3 worth of pasta. We literally left and went to another restaurant afterword for MORE food! Not sure if we will be back again after this experience… it was just too expensive to not be fantastic…

Its slip from grace is a bit sad. It used to be better, so it can certainly can do better. Friday night was dead. A few patrons in hoodies and sneakers ventured in with their coupons, which are a necessity given what you are about to read. As I remembered it two years ago, the place remained simple and clean with just a dash of artistic flair. The service was excellent. We were even treated to a complimentary what seemed to be fried ball of risotto accompanied by small bite of arugula salad in a Dijon tasting vinaigrette. Nice touch; interesting taste. The seared scallop had a nice texture but was ever so slightly overcooked. The edges were just so slightly burnt that grizzle masked the natural creaminess of the scallop. It was surrounded by a what seemed to be a cauliflower purée, which was more vegetal than cream. I’m not sure what the two were trying to accomplish together. The beat salad was upstaged by the arugula salad in the same Dijon vinaigrette, which now was so tangy it was making our cheeks sweat. The first couple bites were challenging, but we just could not take any more without teering. The duck confit was sad. I’m not sure if it was pan fried or flash fried, but it definitely had a thin crispy fried film around it. Dry and without any sauce at all, except for a nice side of berries and reduction. Fried bird is always tasty, but you can help but feel a sense of fast food guilt. .. and resentment for the price you are paying. The bird lay in a Cali-king sized bed of. .. arugula salad in my now oh-so favorite Dijon vinaigrette. The beef bourguignon was also sad: dry and yet swimming in a pool of oil. The side of grilled cauliflower and veggies looked stained and burnt. The whole dish looked like it had been sitting under a heat lamp, so we asked for a fresher side of veggies. Another side plate of stained and burnt veggies quickly arrived. It had a much better taste of sage, herbs and oil. I suppose the look of the veggies is intentional, but the amount of oil became just too much. At least we were ecstatic with the wine selection. I toasted to better days.

I’ve only been here twice for brunch and I hadn’t tried their dinner yet, but I do want to say that their fluffy bignets are OUTOFTHISWORLD. Their side of potatoes are also amazinggg… I’ve had their omelette, egg benedict, french toast, and braised pork, but if i had to recommend one thing for you, it would be their eggs benedict. Now, it’s the service that I cannot stand. They are so slow with everything and it’s not like this restaurant is ever packed with people because that’s hardly the case Each time we had been there, there was barely anybody. maybe just us and two other families. I had to constantly ask for my water and bill, and they also sometimes forget that you asked for it. I HATETHAT! The service here consistently stinks. I don’t think I’d be coming back anymore because of that.

Substantial change, with the new chef. He takes an intentionally unconventional approach. While I’m convinced he believes in his focus, I won’t ever go back. For the record, it might be that his unique commitment, and approach are delicious to some, so readf the menu, and make your own call.

I can here for brunch with my husband randomly on a Sunday morning. The location is odd for upscale dining, but it was pleasant nonetheless. I had the omelet with tomatoes and fresh herbs; it was really good and the eggs were cooked to perfection. My husband ordered the signature Tahitian vanilla french toast and he said it was the best french toast that he has had in quite a while. Now that is a rave review, since my husband is a french toast connoisseur! We also shared a side of bacon(overpriced and nothing special) and a croissant(awesome!). One apparently does not come here for a «quick» bite. It wasn’t particularly busy when we were there, but it seemed that the orders for each table was fired one at a time. The waitstaff was friendly, but very slow. They forgot to bring my orange juice and we had to ask for all accoutrements(creamer, salt, pepper, etc.). It was a pleasant dining experience and relatively inexpensive, but I’m not sure that I would come all that way again for brunch. I would like to try dinner sometime though, as I love a good French meal.

Mmmmm! That has to be one of the best brunches I’ve ever had the pleasure of tasting! I chose to try to the Tahitian Vanilla Bean French Toast with Raspberry Coulis and it was unbelievable! The presentation was gorgeous and it had the perfect amount of flavor without being overly rich. I’m a huge fan of raspberry anything and this was no exception. I also got a side order of roasted potatoes, which I added some salt to but I’ve got a major salty tooth so it may have been perfect for other people. I managed to clean my plate, which isn’t a common occurrence for me. My friend ordered the Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon and Spinach and ate every bite too! To make it even better, I found a buy one, get one 50% off coupon. But the prices aren’t bad for brunch even without it. Each dish was about $ 10, which is wonderfully affordable! The location is interesting in that it’s quite literally in the middle of nowhere, or at least the middle of housing developments. Luckily, I had driven by it on several occasions or I may have missed it. I’m not a fan of French cuisine so the dinner menu doesn’t look all too appealing to me, but I’ll probably be back for another brunch sometime soon!

I hate to do this to Cavaillon, but it really was not worth the price. I think my taste buds have taken 10 steps backwards in terms of sophistication level since I’ve had a child and now all I like is cheap, hole in the wall ethnic food with lots of flavor. We had a coupon, which did alleviate the cost. However, I was really looking forward to amazing food from this place, perhaps reminiscent of the spectacular dinner I once had years ago at the Marine Room. It was not to be. We went for brunch and opted to sit outside so as not to inflict our little terror on the other diners in such a nice place. Unfortunately, this turned out to be quite popular since it was a warm day. Fortunately, the little terror was well-behaved. It had been about 10 years since I had foie gras(and I loved it back then), so I ordered the foie gras appetizer with fig mousse and brioche toast. My husband ordered seared scallops that came with potatoes, and hollandaise scrambled eggs, and we ordered yogurt with granola and fruit for our little boy. The portion of foie gras and mousse was tiny(I mean really tiny) and came with two small slices of toast(all for $ 20). Definitely not worth it especially as my little boy promptly ate one of my pieces of toast. It still would have been fine by me considering how rich the stuff was, but it wasn’t even that good! It had less flavor than butter. Basically, it was like eating shortening with the slightest(the very slightest) of livery tastes. The fig mousse was very good, but it wasn’t enough to compensate for my disappointment in the foie gras. My husband loved his scallop dish($ 18), but even that didn’t seem that special to me. Everything was good, but I honestly thought the scallops weren’t seared quite enough. Better to be undercooked than overcooked with scallops though. The eggs were creamy and delicious and the potatoes were cooked well, but potatoes are potatoes. What can you say about yogurt, granola and berries? At least it wasn’t $ 10(this dish was $ 6). One thing that was very good was the coffee. This was definitely not the best brunch I’ve had recently by a long shot and that was irrespective of the high prices. Every once in a while, I’m willing to splurge on high-end food, but it needs to be something sublime before it gets my vote no matter how nice the ambiance or how pretty the presentation.

First off, this place is expensive! I had a certificate and it barely dented the bill. Came here for an anniversary dinner. We were definately the youngest poeple there, but they didn’t treat us any different. You could tell everyone was money here. The staff was really nice and helpful with the menu. Let us know the specials and everything. We ordered a salman bruchetta which was awesome. Some steak and potatoes which was also awesome. We also ordered some risotto, also awesome. So here you get quality food for the money. If I could afford this place more often, I’d definately go back. Its kind of a drive and tuck away in what almost looks like a residential area. If you like french food, give this place a try for sure.

Some highs and some lows… First, we had reservations… so why did we have to hang out in the front waiting area for 10 minutes? Then the server mentioned they would look for a table(and I see empty ones) some discussion follows, then finally he mentions the poorly located table directly in front of us and says they will get that one ready. Fine. So we keep standing, waiting. The table gets set by the bus boy. And we wait a little longer. Finally the bus boy walks to us, points at the table, and says… your table is ready. Awesome. No walking us to the table, asking us anything. He just disappeared and I don’t see any other service people. This is fine for Denny’s… but come on. Perhaps I needed a coat and tie, instead of elegant casual? Would I have received better service then? And really, I don’t feel like we were being snubbed at all. Just sort of not cared about. Maybe we need UnilocalELITE buttons. :) Anyway, on to the meal right? We were asked for our water choice and that was brought out pretty fast. No bread. Wait. Wait. Then our server shows up. I knew they wanted us to present our Groupon(and even mention it when making reservations… which is odd to me) but I refused. I did not want any service to be tainted by their expectations. Our server was good. Friendly and efficient. I was still not thrilled about the whole seating thing… but I was also hungry. No bread. The server promptly took our drink orders(no full bar, just wine and beer). The gf had a glass of wine and I went with the ever dependable Stella. Nice glass. Server took our order and we went with the Chick Pea cakes and the mushroom ravioli for appetizers. We ordered the entrees a black truffle risotto and the beef short ribs. And then bread came out. :) The bread was very good. The appetizers came out pretty quickly also. I would not order the chick pea cakes again. I expected something with more texture, but instead it is really soft and rich. It comes with some sort of mayo dip or dressing, but that just made it richer. I think something to put with it that had more contrast would have been a better choice. The ravioli? Amazing. Rich… but amazing. Splitting an order for two people was perfect as we each had two raviolis and more than that, would have been too much. The entrees came out and I was a little dismayed at the size of the servings. The entrée size risotto was silly… the waiter had mentioned we could have gotten it in the appetizer size… which must be like a spoonful. And trust me, I am not like some sort of Cracker Barrel customer that likes a LOTOFFOOD. I am really not. I even stay away from places that make a deal about the serving sizes(like Mountain Jacks. or whatever their name is). But this was still on the small side. It was good though, a bit rich… not the best risotto I have had. Black truffles were good. The beef short ribs were amazing, meltingly good. I ordered a capuccino to finish the meal and we split the chocolate Pastillas(I think it is spelled something like this). The female server was very helpful at this point. The desert was amazing(and interesting in that it looked like a hamburger patty and not appetizing). Rich of course, like a very good chocolate mouse wrapped in a filo dough pastry shell. It was served with home made coconut ice cream(or gellato). Also very good. This desert is a hit. Nice. The bill was handled expertly. Funny thing was, I had some issue that had developed with the credit card so it was declined. Duh! But the waiter was so delicate in how he presented the FAIL. Nicely done sir! Other negative points was just their expectation of the Groupon customer. Once I gave them the Groupon, we were told that a gratuity of 18% was going to be added to the full bill. Yeah… I get that some people are cheap skates, but I would always tip more than that, and on the full bill. Seems a little off putting to have the establishment assume we are cheap skates. If that is the case, maybe you guys should not use coupons and such? Probably should not advertise in the Pennysaver. :) It was also not like we were trying to only use the Groupon amount. We ordered with abandon and trippled the Groupon amount. Lastly… when the meal was over, the tab settled. We got up to leave. It felt a little odd to not have anyone say anything… like«hey, thanks for stopping by. Drive safely» Just nothing. We walked out in silence. Maybe I should not expect anything. This place is busy and they obviously are doing some things right… so kudos to the place and chef. Anyway… as I said, some good and some bad. In a nutshell, the seating could have been smoother and more professional. The service was otherwise good. Food was good(and very rich… burp). Parking was easy. A little pricey but not too bad. I doubt I will be back. I doubt they care. :)

Excellent!!! Would definitely come back here. Their wine list is great, even offering Château Montelena(where I became engaged!) and Kistler at great prices(we noticed only a ten dollar markup). Because of President’s Day and Valentine’s Day, they offered many specials, however, I ordered a Kobe beef burger with seared Foie Gras(came with a side of pickled mushrooms) from their Black Truffles Menu a la carte. Although I could not eat the foie gras(passed along to a friend), I did enjoy my burger dipped in an au jus type of sauce. Paired with the pickled mushrooms, it was a well balanced plate. For appetizers we had split the Black Truffle Parmesan fries(yum!) and tried the scallops and tuna and all three were great and seasoned well. My fiancée went all out and I was able to try the Black Truffle tasting menu(which served risotto, fish, scallops, filet mignon, and dessert) and it was sooo tasty but really heavy. I personally could not have lasted through the entire tasting menu but if I had to pick one of the items from the Black Truffle tasting menu, I would say that the scallops were excellent(served over a tomato-white bean confit) in addition to the risotto. The staff was very well versed on their wine lists and pairings, especially the host, Richard(I think that was his name!), who used to work at Tapenade. The inner décor is intimate and great for dates and small groups, and across the street is a small park to stroll around after eating your delicious meal :) The only problem is finding this place — if you miss the turn onto Via Verazzano it will take you on an extremely long U-turn, so be on the lookout! I will definitely return to Cavaillon, and next time, I will not get lost :)

Went here for a special birthday celebration. I’ve been meaning to write a review for the longest time. This place is literally 2 minutes away from me. The location seemed odd at first since it’s located in a residential area. Very private setting, but from the reviews, it seemed like people have heard of this place and didn’t mind the drive. I made sure to make reservations and upon arrival we were seated right away, but near the restroom ?! Oy ! A major pet peeve of mine and the table we had was teeny tiny ! At least there were only two of us, but still I wanted to enjoy my food without the thought of elbowing my neighbors. After glancing through the menu and making up my indecisive mind, we ordered the popular Pommes Frites with truffle oil and parmesan. Sounded delish, but it was literally just plain, thin sticks of potatoes. Ehhh for $ 6, I preferred McDonalds fries yalls. Next on the menu was the appetizer and I decided on the Organic Spring Salad with Olive Oil, Balsamic Vinegar, and Panisse Croutons. It was so-so. The croutons were the highlight of the dish. At this point, I was not impressed and I’m not tough to please people. I was hoping my entrée would be my saving grace. The waitress recommended the Petrale Sole, Basque Crab Ragout, Grilled Eggplant, and Red Bell Pepper Emulsion. MMMmmm…mmm.mmm. Thank you lord ! The fish was so succulent, sweet, and fresh ! Just the perfect temperature and melt in your mouth goodness! I love eggplant in general so this was a winner ! The sauce was a great accompaniment to the dish. Everything mixed together was seasoned just perfect-O. I was one happy-camper at this point ! 1⁄3 dishes did me just right, but not enough for me to stay for dessert ! I figured I lived 2 minutes away and can fix me up something delightful at home ya hear ! All in all, it was a cute little restaurant with nice, dim lights, warm-toned interior décor and furnishings… a great date spot, but the food just didn’t live up to the whole dining experience. Maybe I’ll give it another shot in the near future since it’s so close by. — UPDATE July 2012: As a newly converted vegan, I must return to see what they offer.

Cavaillon is a pretty ritzy kind of place. Which made me wonder why on earth they would participate on . Look up the location and you’ll see why. It is in the north of SD toward Poway, in a perfect little cookie cutter suburb, with definitely nothing else going for it. But armed with coupon in hand, we tried out Brunch. The Eggs benedict was good, but the hollandaise sauce even better. The egg-iest sauce I have ever tasted. Must have been fresh, definitely something to try when here. The omlette looked more typical though. Paired with a pear and goat cheese salad, made for a great meal. But that didn’t even push us over into coupon territory yet. So for dessert, the pistachio nut cream puffs hit the spot. The ice cream very good and puffs light and tasty. All in all the food was very good, though it is hard to discern great brunch, I’d say the highlight was the hollandaise sauce and pistachio ice cream. Definitely worth the drive out. With coupon. Even better.

Iris C. and I came here for our two year anniversary in the sleepy town of Santaluz. I chose Cavaillon because I have yet to find a good French restaurant on San Diego. When I called to check on available reservations, I was met with a French accent so I knew I had to try this place. While we were driving to this place, we thought we were in the middle of nowhere. It’s very random that the location of this restaurant is in a very residential area. It sits next to a Fitness Together gym and a hair saloon. The restaurant is a little lower than upscale and has nice décor for the most part. What really didn’t match was the ceiling, which was very bland. Iris C. also noticed that the bathrooms reminded her of McDonald’s restrooms. You know you are in a nice restaurant if they have nice restrooms and this place didn’t cut it in that department. However, the food is another story. We started off with Pommes Frites with Truffle Oil and Parmesan, which is probably some of the best fries I’ve ever had. The truffle oil really makes a difference in the flavor. After devouring the fries, we moved on to appetizers. I really wanted to have another try at foie gras so we had the Foie Gras with Dried Prune Mousseline and Toasted Brioche. Supposedly it is award-winning and I can see why. It has a very unique flavor from the combination of the savory foie gras with the sweet prune on buttery toast. At this point, we were already pretty full, which is a rarity for French food, but we were still looking forward to the main course. I had the Filet Mignon, Grey Shallots, Porcini Mashed Potatoes, Asparagus Rossini. The filet mignon was tender and juicy and cooked perfectly medium-rare and the foie gras was buttery and fatty. Iris C. had the Shrimp and Scallops Saffron Risotto, English Peas and Lobster Jus. It was quite rich and the scallops were cooked perfectly. At this point, we were really full, but had to try the dessert, as it was also award-winning. For dessert we had Warm & Crispy Dark Chocolate Pastilla, Raspberry Sorbet. I’ve never had a pastilla before and it can only be described as a flaky pastry filled with molten chocolate. Iris C. had the French Crêpe stuffed with Apples and Raisins with Vanilla Ice Cream. The staff was very nice and polite and we had a wonderful dinner. I wonder how their brunch is.
