Still no wifi here. Cell phone signal is poor too, so you can sit and waste time while your color is processing. They owners have no respect for their customers. They get away with it only because the stylists here are absolutely top notch.

GOSEEMIMIBUI!!! Only a haircut from Mimi would inspire me to stop what I’m doing on a Friday night to write a Unilocal review. I’ve seen her for years and have always been amazed by her expertise. She listens and remembers every detail, so she will cut according to your directions, but she’ll make recommendations based on your hair type and needs. At my last hair cut, I took a step back and let her just decide what was needed. Ohmigosh — best haircut EVER! She really is the best at what she does — a true professional. We love her!

Took my daughter in for a haircut with Elizabeth. It was $ 42 for child’s cut(under 12 years old). I did not mind the price or the fact that the hair wash and cut took less than 20 min(she is a kid after all) But when we got to the car, I noticed that my daughter’s hair was wet! Her hair is curly, so I thought she just styled it with gel at first. But no, it was totally wet, and it was 60 degrees out. When I asked my daughter why it didn’t get dried, she said the stylist told her that it would be an extra $ 10 to dry her hair. WHAAT??? I have never heard any salon charging additional fees to dry your hair AFTER A HAIRCUT. There is a difference between nice and upscale and absurd. So if you go here for your cut, bring a hair dryer ;)

My wife and I have been going to see Christina for the past 5 years and I have to say, she is a great Stylist. She knows exactly what we want and she provides a great service. After my monthly hair cuts, I always get compliments on my cut and style. My wife has recommended quite a few of her friends to Christina because she is just that good. We both love going to see her because of the great results. Christina is very professional and has an extensive training background. I have my stylist for life. Thanks Christina, you are awesome. I highly recommend Christina to anyone looking for a great Stylist you can keep.

Had a lovely experience here today. My hairdresser, Erin, was such a doll, and she cut my asymmetrical bob EXACTLY as I pictured it. Plus she was a wonderful conversationalist, very warm and sweet. Thanks Erin, I’ll be seeing you again!

It’s a nice upscale salon in a chichi town center. They have some Spa services as well and sell many high end hair products, including Aveda.

Kristine(«KB») exceeded my expectations. I’ve always been a barber shop guy, but this experience and cut/style was perfect. She’s got talent for sure. I already feel twice as confident walking around. Thanks KB.

I have been coming to Sissy for years at Carlton Hair and have not been disappointed yet. If you are looking for color she is definitively your girl. I have very dark and long hair that is not easy to deal with, but she does an amazing job every time — from cut to color. Additionally the salon as a whole is great. Very friendly and attentive staff, and they have recently renovated the salon space as well. They carry a great selection of products for all hair types and make great recommendations without being pushy(which is a rarity in a salon these days). Would highly recommend the salon, and especially Sissy!

Had a very unpleasant experience at this salon. major snobs! — not even employees at Tiffany’s act like this. Very prejudice! I won’t go into the details but wouldn’t refer this place– plenty of good salons that treat people well and appreciate new business. To give a one star rating is way to much! I won’t mention the name of the hairdresser, I wouldn’t stoup to her level !!! The owner of this place should really reevaluate the employees, little by little this place will go down!

Horrible haircut by Ana!!! I got there at 7:40 and she wasn’t ready until 7:55. Didn’t mind waiting 15 minutes. As she asked what I wanted I showed her a picture and told her I had it that length before. As she cut my hair it looked horrible. I told her it was uneven and asked to fix it. When she flat ironed my hair I had to tell her to please re do it about 5 times because it looked way to frizzy. Then she started to rush because her other client came which made me upset. Long story short I didn’t leave feeling beautiful. I left feeling like I wasted my money. Next time, if there is a next time I’ll go to Erin who knows what she is doing(she was busy with a client at the time). Don’t let Ana touch your hair.

After moving here it has been difficult to find a hairstylist that keeps up with current trends, listens to what I want, and above all is consistent. I found K at Carlton and she is all that and more. Every time I walk out my hair looks fab! It’s definitely worth checking out.

Don’t waste your money. I had been a customer of this Aveda since the times when Marlene ran it and it used to be great. I went back for a while because of that happy ghost memory, but slogged through consistently annoying phone and receptionist experiences, poor service, the management’s inability to remember me or my name despite my weekly visits for massage, and one unimpressive haircut after another. I don’t know why management equates its clientele with ditzy incomprehensible girls with artificially high pitched voices speaking in sentences which always end in question marks, but it’s not working for me and I’m pretty much through with this salon after having spent too much $$$$$ here over 8 years.

This review is for the corporate decision not to have wifi. There is just no reason in Carmel Valley, for a salon that charges $ 130 for a man’s cut and color, to not have wifi. There’s no cell service because they’re on the bottom level and have no access to cell towers. It’s very difficult to be completely out of touch for 2 hours during a business day.

This review is for a men’s haircut by master stylist Laura. I will confess that I was once a «Supercuts» guy. As a guy, I didn’t care much about getting my hair styled and usually got a simple buzz cut– very short on the sides and a little longer up top. This lead to my head looking very round when the hair grew out. Not wanting to look like I still lived in a dorm, I decided I needed to step it up, and I’m glad I did. I like how Laura approaches haircuts. She wants to understand what you’re wanting for your hair as best she can so that she delivers what you want. She does a great job explaining what might be the results of what you’re asking for and guides you so that you get the results you want, even if they weren’t achieved using the approach you first thought of. For me, good communication from the stylist is a huge deal and Laura definitely has that. She also always knows what’s in style and has a sense of what the next trend will be. Laura always makes me look sharp and I leave the salon feeling like Brad Pitt every time. The salon itself has a cool earthy vibe to it. They recently redid the hair washing area and the place looks twice as big now. They have a spa side of the salon that I haven’t tried, but everyone seems to enjoy the facials and peels from there. They sell Aveda, which is a brand I wasn’t familiar with until coming here. Apparently Aveda is all about natural, non-chemical products. I use their shampoo and love it. Overall, when it comes to salons, I’m a true believer that you get what you pay for. The folks here always want to make you feel like a model when you leave and have the technical skills to deliver.

This former Aveda Lifestyle salon still carries almost all Aveda Lifestyle product line. Tracy Coleman was recommended to me and turned out to be the best ever! She can recognize the best color for you within a few minutes. She does amazing styling too. Is it her experience on both the east coast and Los Angeles that makes her so good? I’ll keep going back whenever I’m in the area. I spent four hours looking for the right salon. As soon as I walked in, I knew this was the right place.

I always get really nervous going in for a trim. I have long hair and for some reason when I ask for one to two inches off– people love to cut more off. I just moved to the area and this salon is close by and in my favorite plaza. My stylist, Erin, was super nice and friendly trimmed my hair perfectly. I was really satisfied considering I normally leave new salons crying. I’m definitely going to be seeing Erin again– I want to cry tears of joy for finding a great stylist right next to my house

I hate that I had a horrible experience because it is so close to my house and I would have loved to found a great place to get my hair cut! But unfortunately, this place was just plain bad. I made an appointment to just get my straight-across bangs cut. I had chopped them myself on a whim and needed a pro to go in and make them more even. I didn’t have to wait long to get in, which was really nice. When the stylist took me back to her chair, the first thing she asked was if I was sure I didn’t want to get a full haircut. I had just gotten my hair trimmed a couple weeks prior so I declined and she looked really disappointed. She told me my hair needed it, but I assured her I had just gotten a trim recently. She then proceeded to look at my color and make an underhanded comment about how I should get it re-highlighted because it looked grown out. I am on a budget right now and usually wait about 2.5 months to get my highlights redone and so I told her this and she said with a frown«Well, at least roots are in right now.» She mentioned their price for highlights and I definitely was not in the market(especially at this price) so I let her know I only wanted my bangs trimmed. She was very huffy after this and cut my bangs while standing to the side of the chair. Since my bangs are straight across, I expected her to stand directly in front of me, so I asked if she wanted me to swivel my chair. She started to turn my chair towards her and the foot bar hit her leg and she shouted«OUCH» and everyone looked over. I felt really embarrassed. I never did make the turn all the way around to face her straight on, so she proceeded to cut my bangs from the side. Thankfully, they ended up looking alright. I’m not extremely picky and I usually wear my hair tousled instead of sleek anyway. That is why I am giving 2 stars versus only 1. I will definitely never be returning. I would mention the name of the woman who cut my hair but I don’t want to embarrass her. I am sure there are great stylists here, although I was put with a grump and she ruined it for me.

Definitely do not recommend this place for hair styling or for the purchase of products. Their customer service was absolutely terrible — on top of that, the products they sold were very dated and would not exchange. Their hair stylists are subpar and should consider a different profession. Outside of the negative things I’ve mentioned, the salon has a great location and a nice facility, but I must knock on the customer service, the products, and the stylists.
