I love this little boutique! I remember the first day I walked by, I made a mental note to come back when I had time. They have such unique items that are probably extremely hard to find elsewhere — also not overpriced like most boutiques! They have the cutest dino/animal themed succulent planters by a local artist — I had to get one for my desk and work! The girl who works here is very friendly too and is very helpful/willing to answer any questions :). They also have a stamp card and so the 10th item is free — if I recall correctly the item has to be under $ 20. Awesome!!!

Stopped by the Caption Boutique and Gallery table at the Handmade Holiday craft fair at the library and could NOT be pulled away! I was so impressed by the beautiful upcycled leather jewelry. The table display was so artistic. WIth such amazing prices, I couldn’t decide which to take home. Frenses was super patient and offered to adjust any of the rings to my size. I finally decided on a gorgeous bow tie ring with tan and teal leather pieces. I wore it immediately and can’t wait to show it off!

Caption is owned by the gentle, gracious, and lovely Frenses. Her detailed shop is very inviting for the customer and it has an elegant and ethereal feeling to it. Her art ranges from handmade leather jewelry, which have great prices and style, to paintings, cards, queenly coutour clothing and a fine selection of accessories. Everything is chosen by her and she chooses WISELY. If you are looking for a gift this is the place! As an artist myself, I celebrate beautiful souls like Frenses who has created such a elegant, creative environment. We hold an artist life group here on Tuesday nights where we get to connect with other artists in the community and do life together. Great friendships are being made in this dreamy space. She is truly a blessing to San Diego… definately come experience it for yourself!

I walked by this boutique several times in the past year. Last week I saw a «painting and vino» valentine day sign. I walked in and talked Frenses. She told me that the even would take place on Feb. 15. I was hesitant but I reserved a spot. I arrived there the day if the event as an anniversary gift to my girlfriend. This was a great anniversary present for her. Frenses provided the paint and material as suggested in the reservation. The atmosphere was amazing. We laughed, we connected with everyone there, and she made us feel like family. I swear I didn’t want to leave that place. Needless to say it scored me some brownie points with my girl. If you are not up to painting you can also check out the amazing apparel and hand made jewelry.

Caption is one of my favorite places to be downtown. I say«be» because it is truly an experience. You can take painting and drawing classes as well as shop for one of a kind items. I buy anything from lovely hand-made baby clothes to jewelry that is perfect for individual taste. Frances the owner is so helpful and patient while trying to find your perfect item.

As a Valentines day gift, my boyfriend surprised me with a paint & wine night at Caption and the experience was amazing! This charming & intimate boutique is tucked away in East Village, just a short walk from Petco Park and the 5th St craziness. Right when we walked in, we were greeted warmly by the owners and our easels, canvases, chairs and table were set up and ready to go. We even had a beautiful fruit and cheese plate to snack on while we painted and drank the wine we brought! The owners, Frenses and her husband led us and another couple through Van Gogh’s Starry Night which was perfect because it gave us the freedom to paint without a ton of «step-by-step» instructions, drink our wine, and socialize. One word of advice, watch how much wine you drink, because after a few glasses you’ll be tempted to buy all of the adorable handmade jewelry & everything else in the store!

Ultra charming boutique in the heart of East Village, where the good work of a couple of artists/entrepreneurs have created a very ethereal environment in a tiny space where you can do multiple things, like supporting local artists by buying their hand made productions(there is always someone in desperate need of a gift), attending one of the omnipresent paint and wine classes(in reduced version due to the small size of the store), or just contemplating the paintings exposed by local artists and that keep rotating. Every single detail here screams ‘i am handmade and there was so much love in my conception’. I told the owner the place is so pretty I would love to live there! The scooter adds a fresh Italian touch. You can also go there to be painted by the owner’s girlfriend, either charcoals ar around $ 45 the portrait or other media. Oh, and they have a card system where after buying 9 items you will get the 10th for free up to $ 20 value. Check out those lovely dresses hand saw by a Tijuana based 19 year old. Lots of talent in this reduced space.
