Tried their mango cheesecake snow and it was pretty good. The bowl is good enough to share between 2 people and still be full. The mango cheesecake snow also includes a matcha ice cream(more like snow). The mangos weren’t very sweet but a bit sour, probably because mangos aren’t in season right now. The ice snow isn’t very sweet so you can ask for condensed milk if you want that. The cheesecake was an ok addition to the overall dessert. Make sure you check in to get 10% off!

Really enjoyed Café Hielo! It was our first time trying Korean shaved ice and found the variety of ingredients was really good. We got the coffee one with tiramisu and some delicious ice cream on top, it was delicious! We also got a strawberry and mango shaved ice with tons of condensed milk. Yumm… And to finish off, got the English breakfast milk tea. Sweet and creamy! The vibe inside was chill, the chairs were comfy and plenty of tables however I would have liked some games or louder music. It was pretty mellow for a Friday night. The service was good. My only critique is that the fruit was really frozen, I had to wait for it to thaw. Guess I’m not used to eating rock had fruit. But overall a great experience!

This is my all time favorite café in Convoy when it comes to snow ice and honey toast. I usually always go with a honey toast and a coffee and it is the best snack for when Im just sitting in the café for a few hours, doing work! Get the snow ice when you need something to cool off with during the hot weather! The atmosphere is very homey and quaint. The music isnt to loud but does get confusing when the tv is playing kpop music videos but theres american music playing at the same time. The staff is nothing short of amazing. Each time I go there, I be sure to leave a little drawing for them as a gift. Thank you café hielo and staff for creating a nice café atmosphere for me and others to stay, chat with friends, do work in piece, and have delicious snacks all in the same place! Youre all so great! Totally reccommend!

The first time I went here I actually didn’t get anything because it took forever for the employee to help us and the prices I thought were a little high. I decided to give it a second try after purchasing a deal online. The deal was for two items plus a free tumbler. I’ve had better shaved ice. Condensed milk is mixed in with the ice, but I didn’t think it made a big difference in taste. The only employee that night was sitting at a table watching show on his laptop. Whenever a customer came in he would ring up their order and prepare it. Never once did I see him wash his hands.

**There are two locations of Café Hielo. One is located by Kogi KBBQ and the other in the plaza w/Chaba Thai. When we were trying to find this place, we went to the location w/Kogi and the place was closed even though it should have been open [according to times]. The one by Chaba Thai was open, but it was extremely confusing and annoying to deal with. Once we got situated, we ordered the mango Cheesecake with Green Tea ice cream! The shaved snow was super fluffy and creamy, not icy at all! The cheese cake bits are pretty big, and adds a much needed textural contrast w/the soft snow. The green tea ice cream wasn’t sweet at all, which adds a really nice balance with the already sweet dessert. The mangoes are just frozen mangoes… meh. Since they drizzle condensed milk on only the top, only the first half of the dessert will actually taste like anything. Would I gave this another try? Yeah, but I would prefer going to iceskimo over this place if I wanted shaved snow.

Got the mango cheesecake snow but substituted the cheesecake with extra mango. I felt like there was almost more Mango then there was ice. They give you condensed milk on the side. The mango is good and super sweet. We got both green tea and vanilla ice cream. The green tea ice cream was not that good. Had more of a matcha artificial flavor than traditional green tea ice cream. I would suggest sticking to vanilla. The bowl is more than enough to share with two people.

I love the Korean Ice at Café Hielo! Its like shaved ice except better! The ice is like fresh powder on the slopes. It melts in your mouth and is good by itself, which I don’t find with regular shaved ice. It took me awhile to write a review and I think it should be noted that if this was the first time I went to Café Hielo my review would probably be 4 or 5 stars. Unfortunately compared to the first couple times I’ve been there, the service and quality of the dessert has decreased. I ordered the mango cheesecake with green tea on the side. The cheesecake bites never fail and the proportions was great. Usually the size of ice is above average which is why I Ioved this place and extra condensed milk was not an extra charge. This time around there was not as much ice as usual and the mangoes appeared to be canned versus fresh. There was a lack of condensed milk as well and when we asked for a side, they now charge. Service was never really spectacular but not bad either. With the new size of the dessert $ 8 seems rather expensive and not worth it. Although this is so, the ice is just so good, which is why I would probably return when I have money to splurge.

Cute little shaved ice place. Service was meh, the guy I had was sneezing and coughing and not really covering his mouth(ew…). I got the mango cheesecake shaved ice as recommended as a popular choice and it was pretty good(but its hard to mess up ice, condensed milk, fruit, ice cream), however I will say that the cheesecake bites were a pretty delicious component! We also got the brick toast but it was more like a sugar-coated bread loaf than anything. I prefer to get my brick toast fix at Up2You. It wasn’t crunchy and buttery like you would expect delicious brick toast to be. There was caramel drizzled on top and whip cream on top of the soggy bread, which made it even more soggy. Overall: The shaved ice is decent, go elsewhere for the brick toast if that is what you are trying to go for

This is my second review because I don’t know what happened to the quality of this place but the ice snow that we got was terrible. The only thing that was good was just the ice. The strawberries and bananas were FROZEN! The fruits were old and we couldn’t even eat it because it was so hard. The strawberries were wrinkled. I was very disappointed. How hard is it to cut a few fresh strawberries and banana? I know they aren’t expensive so there’s no excuse. Very upset.

Happy Hour Mon-Fri starting at 2pm for 20% off! I tried the Mango Cheesecake with green tea ice cream instead of vanilla. The cheesecake bites were good and the mangos were not too bad. I like their green tea ice cream, you can definitely taste the green tea flavor. The top part of the dessert is good but once you get down to the bottom the snow is kind of flavorless. The presentation is super cute though. One dessert was definitely enough for 2 people to share!

I had to stop in here when it opened because I’m a shaved ice whore. I can only judge the shaved ice at Café Hielo and I can tell you this place is not my favorite because it lacks flavor. The center of the bowl is literally shaved ice. It tastes like nothing and I’m paying $ 10 for it? Das not it mane. This is an anorexic’s wet dream, but I’m trying to get a big fat ass so I always have to ask for an extra side of condensed milk. I won’t be coming back because even the honey toast looks weak af, but next time I get shaved ice I’m going to Tea Garden because you get way more for your money and it tastes like eating heaven in the mouth.

I have a sweet tooth and this shaved ice treat wasn’t sweet enough for me. I ordered the Oreo and Cheesecake for $ 10, it is one of their Shaved Ice Premium. I thought picking the sweetest dessert on the menu will satisfy my sweet cravings, it didn’t. I felt like I was eating diet ice cream that was freezer burn. The different texture in my mouth was a little bit overwhelming. I think it is a bit pricy for shaved ice and the wait time for orders is a bit lengthy, considering my order was the only one being prepared. The staff was friendly and helpful, food presentation was beautiful and very appealing. The store is clean and well decorated, and parking is a challenge during busy hours.

My favorite dessert place! Love all of the desserts and great customer service! I always get the mango cheesecake shaved snow here! The cheesecake is such a great mix to the shaved snow and their mango is always fresh. Lots of condensed milk as well and the ice melts super slow so you can take your time eating it. I have tried their brick toast and it’s very crunchy! Recently tried their smoothies and they are all made with real fruits :) If you come during happy hour it’s 20% off and if you spend over $ 10 you get their cute tumbler cup!!! I recommend: — Mango cheesecake shaved snow w/vanilla ice cream!

came here on another day for the red bean shaved ice, Their affogato was delicious, btw. Don’t get me wrong. The food is solid 4 stars, but the docking came from the serious flaws in their service: It baffles me that despite the receipt has a order number, they just call out the names of the items. This was something I noted in my previous visits, but this time it was the last straw. Everyone is almost getting the same things, and you’re causing a lot of unnecessary confusion! I think I accidentally picked up someone’s affogato, and wondered what happened to the rest of my order because none of that came: the iced coffee and the red bean ice. Of course, that affogato was not mine to begin with, and unknowingly I made someone wait longer than necessary. However, what was irritating was that when I asked about the rest of the supposed order, the staff had no idea that my order existed. She had to take my order receipt in order to complete the order. Clearly, they need to call the orders BYTHENUMBERONTHERECEIPT. Is that really hard? One other part I am concerned with is the sanitary issue with the free chips by the door, which is free for paying customers. It’s self-serve with scoop and some paper trays. I saw this one particular male staff(or owner, who knows), who grabbed the chips from the bowl with his bare hands. TWICE. EW. Why bother serving with the scoop when your own staff digs in with his own hands? There are some questionable practice that I am not sure to return in the future.

It took over 15 minutes for our orders. I sensed a lot of inexperience. The green tea mochi was very good. The green tea ice cream was average. The grape smoothie was made from a bunch of green grapes processed in a blender. I wouldn’t come back. Iceskimo outweighs Café Hielo in customization, individualization, speed, and the reward system. The TV was broadcasting the latest Korean music videos, though, so props on keeping up with the kpop top40s.

I got the mango cheese cake size small. It came out to be over $ 8 after tax and it can feed 2 ppl pretty well for dessert. They were very generous with the mangoes which I liked. The sweetness of the ice and cheesecake was not too overwhelming! Overall I really liked the mango cheese cake bowl and the way everything tasted. My only complaint is that the mangoes were very frozen so they were kind of hard to eat. Otherwise I would totally come back here for a cold dessert :).

So bomb on a hot day! & we have been having plenty of those these days! I came here with my boyfriend & ordered: Milk & Red Bean = Milk shaved ice, bean powder, mochi, condensed milk, almond slices, red beans — Big enough to share between two but my boyfriend loved it too much he did not share! Fireworks = Milk shaved ice, condensed milk, strawberries(It comes with whipped cream but one of the workers suggested I substitute it for cheesecake pieces, very good) — Delicious! So refreshing. The shaved ice is so soft & has the same texture as fallen ice! The shaved ice is infused with milk so it makes it creamy. I will def come here again!

So we came here after Maru Lounge. We drove by Up2You, but it was packed. Quick search on Unilocal brought us here. I had bookmarked this place before(thanks Lachesis) because the reviews and pictures looked good. Place was open late, until midnight(it was Friday) when we went. Plenty of parking in this small shopping plaza. It is near Crab Town and Chaba Thai Kitchen. To my surprise, there was no one inside. We had the whole place to ourselves. Service was good. We weren’t sure what to order so we asked the two workers there what their favorites were. We ended up ordering some of their recommendations. We each ordered our own shaved snow ice cups /bowls. We could have easily shared, but 1) we’re all fatties and 2) everyone wanted something different. We ended up ordering five different items… came out to almost $ 35.00, so about $ 7.00 per person. A little pricey, but it was quite good. Place was super clean and had nice décor. I really liked the clock design on the wall, it looked pretty cool. This place also had a big flat screen playing K-Pop(television was muted) and K-Pop was playing overhead(like Mary Lounge). Overall, I’m a fan. Dessert was tasty, place is clean, service good(they told us they could make something else if there was a problem), it’s open late, and there’s plenty of parking. Only drawback is it could get pricey.

OK, I am now a complete Korean Snow addict! I stopped in after parking in front of the shop, on my way to Gualbertos at the other end of the shopping center(parking in this center really sucks, even at 2 on a weekday it was pretty much full because of all of the restaurants). I had to see what it was, and the lure of Mango & Cheesecake together was irresistible! I got a to-go version, and even that was almost too big for 1 person to eat! The larger eat-in version definitely needs to be shared, and probably on a fairly empty stomach. The fact that I was attempting to eat some after half a burrito combo plate means that the leftover snow had to be stuck in the fridge for later. They have Happy Hour specials, from 2 – 6 Mon-Fri, and some other specials. You can also add-on extras(as if it wasn’t enormous enough already!) The drawback is that they don’t have enough staff. I had to wait 10 minutes, because the girl working was the only one. She took orders, and had to make everything too. Have 2 people on all the time, especially during Happy Hour people!
