Beautiful restaurant. Great food. Wonderful service . Ask for Harry ! He’s what service industry should be. He’s so funny and on top of it . So many things to try, just go in for yourself and have a nice experience!

Felix, our server was awesome. Oysters rock were outstanding. Chilled seafood platter was pretty good, shrimp and clams held it it back. Watermelon vinegarette outstanding, could have used a little spice to go along with it. Desserts to go were good also

The world’s best fish taco can be found at Brig. I have never been disappointed. The fish is fried to perfection and the garnishes aren’t overpowering.

My wife and I were very hungry after I’d worked so we headed to a restaurant a friend recommended nearby. While it wasn’t open until 5PM, the Brigadine was at 4:30PM. I ordered the Porkbelly BLT and my wife the Fish Taco’s. We were very pleased to get orders that weren’t oversized, were seasoned well, and delivered a nice mix of flavor and textures. We shared a nice Apple Cobbler for dessert.

Ok, so if I was basing this review on my meal, it was pretty good, but I’m going for the big picture, the entire evening. Let’s start with our waiter Mark, young guy, man bun. I’ve eaten in some of the finest restaurants in the western USA, and this young man was the most knowledgeable and waiter I have ever run across. Appetizer; he recommended the perfect oyster. Absolutely wonderful and right on. Wine; perfect recommendation. Cocktail, a true sommelier. How does this boy know so much? Wonderful, attentive, and just charming as hell. I’m kind of a solitary person and over friendly waiters creep me out, but this boy made me feel at ease and comfortable. What a gem. This was our 30th anniversary and this young man went out of his way to make it special. We will surely be back and I will definitely request his services.

Cute seafood place right near Shelter Island. I had the clam chowder, calamari strips, and sword fish tacos. The chowder had a delicious bacon flavor, was very creamy, and was one of the better chowders I have had. The strips were not overly battered, they were very tender, and the delicious jalapeño aioli with them was tasty. The fish in the tacos was succulent and perfectly grilled with very good slaw. Two tacos were big enough for a good lunch portion. Great place!

Couple of things just right off the bat First, Brigantine has the largest Scallops I have ever seen in my entire life. I don’t know where they obtain these Scallops, but they are huge. Second, they have the very best breading I’ve ever tasted on Fish and Chips. I mean it’s perfect. You can’t taste a single bit of grease on it. If you told me Mermaids obtained this breading from Atlantis, I’d believe you. I’m hungry for more just typing this review, which is truly a shame because it’s 1500 miles from where I am now. I’ve been thinking about this Fish and Chips SINCE I was here. From looking at what I’ve written I know this review almost seems overflowingly positive but based on my one visit I would come back in heartbeat if I was back in San Diego.

Its my husband’s birthday last night so we decided to dine out. Went to C level but that place was packed and theres an hour and a half wait so we just decided to find another seafood restaurant and we found this gem. We are warmly greeted when we came in and was seated right away. Server went to our table after a minute. All the food in the menu looks so good! If only we could eat everything. Server is so knowledgable about the menu. Answered all our questions straight up and gave us great suggestions as well. Our food are served shortly. I didnt expect that a seafood restaurant could serve food that fast and to think that the place is full as well. We ordered the PEI clams and mussels, artichoke fritters, clam chowder, ahi sashimi. Ordered one of the PEI but it was so good that we had to order one more. The soup of it was oh so good! Artichoke fritters to me is okay. Nothing extra ordinary about it but i like it and the lime dip Clam chowder is okay too. Not as good as what i had back in New England but its still pretty good. It comes with oyster crackers too. Ahi Sashimi, cant comment about it coz only my husband had it since i dont eat raw fish but he seemed to love it. The ambience of the place is awesome too. Comfy booth as well. My husband and i will definitely go back.

Food was fantastic. I had the Ono, which I found out was a local fish, similar to the Flounder. Very mild and tasty. We also had the Black Salmon with Pumpkin Sauce. It was outstanding. As a side, the NE Clam Chowder was loaded with tender clam chunks. Great place and great service.

Shrimp and crab fondue– Not fondue and almost no discernible seafood. Just melted cream cheese. More like a dip. Carnitas tacos– watery. Jacked up prices on bill. Apparently menu hadn’t been updated with new pricing. Got corrected but like WTF?! Also bathroom looked like an outdated train station. The whole experience was pretty darn basic.

I’m sure this place is great based on all the reviews, but we had a bad experience here. Went with a larger group of people based on a recommendation. The initial reaction was that this place was ideally located, beautiful inside and out and the staff was friendly. They had a really decent selection of gluten free food and an amazing bar. Everything looked great, but I had heard so much about the fish tacos and I wanted to try them. Once the food came out, everything looked great, but I was incredibly disappointed with the fish tacos. The cheese on them was hard and almost wax-like. The corn tortilla was slimy like it had been sitting on the plate for a long period of time before it got out to me. I dabbed them on a napkin to get the moisture off. We also had two waiters at our table because we had a larger party – at the end of the night, we asked them to split the checks up based on who was paying, but they didn’t do it. They said, «because there are two waiters, its difficult to do that», which made no sense. They brought us a check for the whole table and told us to circle what we had and write on the check which card we wanted them to use. It got to be very confusing and eventually one of the guests grabbed the check and did some math to split it up. it took about 45 minutes to pay for our meal. By the end of it, some of us noticed that it almost looked like they charged us gratuity twice, but we were all so annoyed with the process that we left it how it was. We didn’t want it to take another 45 minutes to fix it. I understand that its probably pretty tough to have a table of 15 or so people ask for separate checks, BUT… this is hardly the first time a party of 15 or more people have asked to pay their bills separately and I’m sure Brigantine has had situations like this before. It killed the experience for us.

Best fish taco in San Diego(Rubios, you’re not even close) and the best mud pie, too. Yeah, it’s a small chain but this is a great location filled with a good mix of both tourists and locals.(The Del Mar location is also great but lost a ton of character in its major remodel – sorry, but when I need some drinks I choose rustic and close quarters over sterile, modern and spacious). They have a great happy hour, too, and you could do worse than their margarita shaker. Fun and lively, good food and good drinks. It’s reliably solid every time.

Yes all around! This place got an A in all categories. Service was PERFECT including the timing between the courses. Seafood was outstanding! Oysters both raw and cooked. Perfect. Tender octopus. Divine. The swordfish was their house specialty and it was off the charts delicious. We went midweek and there was a 3 course special with dessert and both the crème brûlée and the chocolate dessert were unbelievable. Loved this place. Great ambiance in the dining room. I think it made our experience that much better that we were in a booth in the dining area rather than in the bar. The bar was a little rowdy with children and TVs. Do yourself a favor and visit this spot. SO happy with this decision.

SOLID, spot for reasonable seafood. Of course, most seafood in San Diego is going to be expensive anyways, but Brig does good work. My favorite items are always the oysters and clam chowders. My least favorite would have to be the bacon wrapped shrimp, yuck… Oysters — on point $ 2/ea Clam Chowder — is awesome! I always get a cup. Bacon Wrapped Shrimp — no Bueno. Why ruin the shrimp with burnt bacon??? Complimentary Bread — very good, served warm and with whipped butter. I hate when butter is cold, so they do a good job with here by serving warm whipped butta. Cioppino — I think this is only available on the lounge/bar menu. It was awesome! Lots of trash seafood too. Steamed Mussels and Clams — a nice delicate broth made with wine, garlic and butter. Excellent! I’m sure I’ve had some other stuff here, but it’s definitely a go to spot for basic seafood. Yea there are a lot of old people, but hey, older the wiser, right?

Well that was disappointing. Went there last night for dinner and the food was nothing different than a Denny’s meal. Rib-eye was tasteless, «house fries» we’re pretty much uncooked, Brussels sprouts were oily. The calamari was like deep fried tofu, rubbery and in a weird shape. The fish tacos were small and mediocre. So disappointed.

On Tuesdays, you come in and the hostess will ask you if you are coming in for Taco Tuesday. They split the dining area and the side closer to bar is where you can sit at any available table for taco Tuesdays. It was busy but not too crowded. We were able to get a booth. Our experience was awesome! We had Tyler as our server and he was super attentive. We didn’t have to wait long for anything we requested. For everything we ordered… We paid very decent price for 3 people.

Had a late lunch here in Shelter Island. Friends recommended The Brigantine. Glad I took their suggestion. The clam chowder is delicious(though my wife wished they offered it in a bread bowl). I had the Mixed Seafood linguini in Alfredo sauce. Loved it! I recommend trying this quaint restaurant while visiting Shelter Island in the Point Loma area!

Average. I ordered a Thai Fishermans Stew looking forward to the coconut broth but it didn’t pack much flavor. They didn’t bring the correct utensils until I asked which was half way through my meal before I saw anyone. Maybe soup has less flavor when you eat it with a fork? The mojito was also average. I did enjoy the upstairs(smoke free) bar/balcony and its view. The waitress was really sweet. It was just eh

Dinner was delicious! We are visiting from Denver and wanted good seafood and a local pointed us in this direction. We came here for my husband’s birthday. Delicious appetizer we had the oysters. For the main course Curtis had swordfish and I had Scallops. They even gave us free dessert. Yum. Our waiter Tyler was fantastic. Will come here again if we’re visiting Shelter Island!!! Thank you

There are no correct words in the English language for me to describe how blown away by this restaurant I was! We had made reservations for a later time but we got hungry and came in early. They had no seats available in the restaurant part but the bar area was open. We choose a booth and was served right away. We ordered the Crab fondue appetizer and oh my! It was the best fondue I have ever had. I am a huge fondue person too… I liked how hard the bread was until you dipped it into the fondue then it could still hold the cheese and be soft. By this point the kitchen was backing up due to all the people and our waitress informed us. We didn’t care because we weren’t in any hurry. A huge family came over to us at that point asking if we could switch booths with them and we did. Our dinner came out right after we switched and both entrees were mouth watering good! I had the crab stuffed bacon-wrapped shrimp with mashed potatoes and coleslaw and my fiancé had the swordfish with Parmesan mashed potatoes and fries. Everything was above and beyond my expectations! Then we ordered the mud pie for dessert. Now this is one of my favorite desserts you can get anywhere. When its on the menu, I get it. And I am so glad I did. It was layered so there was more oreo crust, which is my favorite part. While eating this, the manger came over and said that the people who we had switched with wanted to buy us a round of drinks but since we weren’t drinking they purchased our appetizer. That was really nice. Then the manager said, since we were so nice to them that she wanted to compt us the dessert. WOW! What service!

I’m not sure if it was me or the time but when I came here around 5−6ish there were quite a lot of old people. Like senior citizens old. I wasn’t sure what Brigantine encompass when we realized we had a free $ 50 gift card from a swag bag. And to answer my question Brigantine is a seafood restaurant trying to not be cool or hip or anything, it is exactly what it is, a seafood restaurant in Point Loma area. It’s not trying to be fancy or expensive like Tom Hams or even Oceanaire. You walk in and it’s upstairs and once you walk in you smell old wood, much like old homes in the east coast. The carpet is horrid and discolored, the chairs and tables are old, work out, chipped and looks like something found in a dumpster… And the bathroom handicap stall is huge, even for a regular handicap stall…(for seniors probably). Old décor and a small balcony withy no views… 2 separate menus, one for the bar area and one for the dining room. Despite the worn out place and décor, the food was solid. It’s much a no frills restaurant. I ordered a mule to start and I must say they made it right. It was good in its cold copper mug. For food choices we had oysters, steamed mussels & clams, and a Cioppino. The seafood was fresh and good. They had 3 different oysters. The broth to the steamed mussels and clams was excellent, I love the tanginess and garlicky of it. We ended it with the Cioppino and it was a thicker broth, with a bit of spice from the bell peppers. All the seafood was enjoyable and they have good prices for happy hours. I would come back if I were in the area.

This is my mothers go to place and for that reason I decided to recommend this place for dinner while my brother and his family were down from LA. Let me say I really don’t like seafood so hopefully this review will help the fish lovers and non fish lovers! They started with the crab cake and everyone(that liked fish) loved it. Even my niece and she’s a picky eater! I had two choices since I dont like fish. I had to choose between half organic chicken or the steakhouse burger. I chose the burger that comes with your choice of two sides. My sides being coleslaw and fries. The burger was so good. So so good. The coleslaw needed a bit more flavor and the fries were soggy so I filled up on the burger. My brother got the two fish tacos with rice and he really enjoyed it. My niece got the soup of the day which was close to a chicken tortilla soup and I tried a bite. It was very flavorful! The service was very friendly and there was always a server or busser around to get you whatever you needed. Besides my coleslaw and fries I don’t have any complaints! I will continue to recommend this restaurant to all seafood lovers

I have been a fan of the Brigantine for years. I have mainly gone to their Del Mar location but my wife and I were in Point Loma and decided to stop in for a bite. I advise anyone who eats or wants to eat here to BRINGCHANGEWITHYOU for the parking meters! The entire parking lot is metered and is constantly checked. We walked inside and got seated right away. Our waitress promptly came over and took our drink/food order. A short time later, we got our food. My wife ordered the chicken tacos and I had their fish taco plate which was awesome! Their fish tacos are WAYBETTER than Rubio’s. My only advice is to ease up on the cheese just a tad as it was a little too much for my wife to handle. Keep up the great work! We will be back.

Of all the restaurants that I tried in the area Brigatine was my favorite. I came here two years ago on my last visit and remembered how good it was so came back. For dinner I had this special flounder with a white cream sauce with capers that was very good. It came with garlic mashed potatoes which were also amazing. Like most bars and restaurants in the area they have a good selection of locally made craft beers. I have become a fan of the craft brews in San Diego! The next day I came back for lunch and had Crab Louie which also was very good. It had real crab and shrimp. I sat at the bar and had excellent service both times even though it was very busy for dinner. This is a must try restaurant if you
