I stopped by this store a few weeks ago to get a particular type of brush. Nina was there, and she was very friendly that day, but I was in a hurry and didn’t have time to look around. I decided to go back today to get some hair coloring products, and Nina was there again. She was one of the most helpful people I have ever met in a store. She spent 25 minutes helping me choose exactly what I needed. I felt as though she really wanted to help me find the right products for me. The prices were perfectly acceptable to me, and there is also their discount offer! I will go to this store again and again. Thanks Nina!

My go-​to beauty supply store. The prices here don’t differ much from other beauty supply stores in the area, but the 10% off membership card is the reason why I keep coming back– a little goes a long way. They’re also always fully stocked and once you walk in, you can tell that they make use of all the space they have and stock up on everything. I go mainly for hair products and hair color but I like to look at the cosmetics they have as well.
They have LA girl and NYX cosmetics, and a good amount of lashes to choose from. They’re a little behind on newer cosmetics like NYX lip products, though… so i wouldn’t rely on this store if I were a makeup junkie. (Target has newer NYX products!)
I often see up-​to-​date a new nail polishes, like the OPI hello kitty collection!
The staff is always so genuine, friendly, and knowledgeable every time I walk in or call. Whenever I buy hair coloring products, the staff always includes a few pairs of gloves, which i NEVER remember I need. The receipt states that you have to exchange or return your item unopened within 7 days, but after about 10 days of lagging on my returns, I called in and explained my situation, and I was able to trade it out no problem!

Consistently the best service every time I come in. The family who owns it is always in and they are so knowledgable and helpful. My favorite beauty store in the area

Love the selection of full size and travel size hair care products. They also have a great selection of skin care, cosmetics, hair color and hair accessories. Cheri Hair is the BEST HAIRDRESSER EVER!!!

I like this place. It is close to my house (TOO close, my wallet is warning me), it has reasonable hours, AND excellent service and a pretty good selection!
I would choose this over Sally Beauty Supply 10 out of 10 times due to the pricing, service, and that they pretty much have the same selection but the experience here is better.
I am a nail slut and the selection here is pretty good! They have OPI, etc plus the acetone that I like over nail polish remover, PLUS nail buffers. They have gel nail systems both with the light or systems that just use a special topcoat, if you want that. They have a ton of stuff for your hair, waxing supplies, enough stuff to make you look like a million bucks while only costing a little bit.
I do wish that they had more nail polishes, though. I was missing my Essie polishes (Walgreens and Target have the best selection that I have found), but would absolutely return here for any tools I need.
ALSO, they offer a 10% discount for paying cash, and 7% discount for card if you have their discount card! WHATTTT???
I love this place and if you need any beauty supplies, I would recommend it highly.

I’ve seen bigger beauty supply stores, but if you’re in the area you can’t beat this as a quick stop shop. They have so many different brands. I came in for purple shampoo to tone down the brassiness of my colored hair. The lady helping me recommended some products, and after telling her I had really dry hair, she gave me 2 generous sized deep conditioning samples!
She also gave me a discount card that gives you 10% off if you pay with credit and 15% (I think) if you pay in cash! Score!
I came out with a nice mini-​haul of purple shampoo, cuticle oil, cuticle remover, orange sticks, toner, and Moroccan oil. I order most things online but if you wanna browse and pick stuff up immediately, this is my go-​to!

I love this place everybody that works there are really nice and helpful. they have so many good brand products is a little pricy but is worth getting what you want If you don’t want to wait for it in the mail. Must go and check it out. This is my go to store now forget target.

The reviews kind of threw me off. I was expecting to walk in to a store with someone there to greet me, ask me if I need any help, etc. I walked in with one guy sitting in a back corner and one guy by the door stocking up. No greet, no nothing. Very awkward. I finally asked if they had any China Glaze nail polish. The guy I asked looked a little confused so I told him how I see they have China Glaze gel but not regular polish. Finally, he was able to just tell me no. Pretty much what they have is all they got, which is fine, but I was hoping they’d have their polish as well. Overall, their prices were okay. I’ve been to other supply stores with cheaper prices, specifically when it comes to their supplies such as cuticle cutter and stuff. I decided to come here since I was in the area and the reviews raved about such great customer service. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come back here again but if I’m in the area I’ll stop by and give it another shot.

Great shop with tons of selection. They carry multiple lines of hair, skin, and nail products. Really anything you need you can find it here! I may be biased as I personally know those who work there but it’s easy to support a business run by such hard working, caring, and humble individuals. They also carry brands that can be hard to find so definitely check this place out next time you’re looking for something!

Hands down thee best beauty store ever! I always get the best help from the employees when I’m purchasing my colors and beauty supplies. If you want real customer service and awesome deals I highly recommend coming here!

Great place! Well stocked, friendly, helpful and easy to find and park. I am a new customer, I went in because my old store closed. I will definitely go back.

I scoured all of San Diego trying to find an old school safety razor to shave with. Obviously I could have gone to «The Art of Shaving» at Fashion Valley mall, but I didn’t feel like spending over $ 200 on a Razor worth $ 30 and a shave brush worth $ 10. I walked in here on whim expecting to get shut down yet again. THEY HAD EVERYTHING I NEEDED! I got my razor, extra blades, and badger brush all under $ 30. When I asked if they had some shave soap and a shave mug they replied with «Come back next week, we’ll have it for you». THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT! Very helpful, polite, and prices you can’t find anywhere else. They have a customer for as long as I can grow facial hair.

They actually carry Red cherry lashes, not the full line though :(. I’m so happy because I’ve been on the hunt for those lashes. I wish they would get the full line and also the #43’s.

Very helpful, great prices and accessories that will last. I have a lot of hair, tons. They have clips that hold my hair right and in place. Great selection of nail products, waxing items, and a ton of product. If you need something you can find it here.

I see myself going here for a long time. Ive been going for about a year. Ramon is hella cool! So is his wife and son. Thats the main reason I go there. Slowly but surely Ive been finding more products that I can use. Random stuff like Marula oil. I dont even know what a Marula is but it smells super good, like grapes.
We have to support business owners like Ramon. He is a great business owner but an even better person.

Engineers and beauty supply stores don’t quite fit… or do they? Walk into Balboa Beauty Supply and meet Ramon Pons, a former nuclear engineer turned business owner, and a damn good one too. Small yet full of outstanding inventory, including top of the line hair and beauty products such as Pureology and Murad, this local beauty supply store is nothing less than impressive. Warm and inviting is what comes to mind when I think of this store, as Ramon and his staff go above and beyond to provide clients with the best customer service and latest products on the market, as they have done for the past 20 years. «If we don’t have it, we’ll get it» is Ramon’s motto, and that’s no joke. He orders directly from the manufacturer and can get almost any hair care product on the market. His background in engineering also taught him a thing or two about research, and Ramon definitely does his homework. When it comes to supplying his store, whether it be attending conventions or seminars for new and upcoming products, or simply looking into and fulfilling specific requests from clients, Ramon is the one for the job. And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, you discover a salon and facial room, where might I add, no appointment is required. This truly is a hidden gem in the back of this shop. I could go on for days, but it wouldn’t come close to the great customer service you will experience when visiting Balboa Beauty Supply, not to mention the daily discounts offered and member card services provided. But don’t take my word for it, go check it out and see for yourself.

Hard to find beauty product? No problem, but you will pay dearly for it! The two ladies there fawn all over you (if you desire, otherwise they will leave you alone… but oh, I desire), and my first time here they showered me with 15% off coupons and free make up bags. They were so eager to please and helpful, it was a nice change of pace from other beauty supply stores.
However, in the words of Sheryl Crowe — this ain’t no disco (unt store). You are going to pay full price and maybe a little more — but the service and convenience are worth it, sometimes!
