Had been going to the old 4.0 deli for many years. Was very sad when they closed down. Decided to try the reopening and drove all the way back to SDSU to do so, and ordered my favorite sandwich: The Big Apple. The sandwich came with some orange thousand island dressing instead of whatever it was they made it with before. It was definitely not the same sandwich anymore. Let me know when they’re back to the old recipes or start another deli somewhere else where they don’t feel forced to conform to college student budgets when it comes to quality ingredients. They had amazing sandwiches, not sure why they feel forced to cater to the SDSU community only.

Came by here to watch the game and didn’t really expect much from the ratings here, but the sandwich I ordered was decently good! I ordered the regular-sized Best In Show sandwich sub out the rye with sourdough bread. I believe it was $ 6.99. The sandwich comes with pastrami, lettuce, tomato, and honey mustard. I added jalapeños and pepperoncinis to it as well. I’m glad I got the sourdough instead of rye, but the sourdough was kind of oily. Make sure you check in for 10% off!

I showed up last night to watch the second half of the Golden State-Houston game & to my surprise it was also game 1 of a NHL playoff game. The place was rockin’ with fans of both sports & all four teams. There are two sides to the restaurant, i.e., a bar side & a sit down to eat restaurant side. You can order food on either side. I was on the bar side & automatically expected to have to wait to be helped being as busy as it was, but to my surprise, I was wrong. I waited my turn but was helped within minutes. I had some fun basketball conversation with a Warriors fan & watched an outnumbered Rockets fan gloat in everyone’s face as his team pulled out the dub. Last night was really a lot of fun & I will definitely be back. Hopefully on a slower day to see how normalcy is handled, but mayhem: these people got it covered. Not a single complaint on my side. Cheap beer & delicious Sandwiches. You really can’t go wrong.

Went there last night before the NIT basketball game for a beer. Took 30 minutes to get 1 beer. Come on guys — you should know people are coming out to see the game. Can’t have one guy working the counter. Put on more staff for game days. Support your Aztecs!

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I’ve driven passed this place a thousand times. It’s situated in the heart of SDSU College Area in a little strip mall area. I had the«In Yo Face» sandwich which I subbed ham for turkey. It was nothing spectacular. I can’t really rave about. I probably won’t be back — there are sooooo many great sandwich places around SDSU so this doesn’t top my list.

I can only give this place three stars because they only had 3 different beers to choose from. I had heard that they had outstanding happy hour prices but when I arrived, there were very few choices. I have talked to other people about my experience and they all said they had a similar experience when they went for happy hour. The sandwich was actually delicious. I had the In Yo Face. It was yummy. I would order a sandwich to-go from this place and the reason is that my experience also included a young man infiltrating on my group asking for money and talking about God. It was a weird experience because he was talking about of nonsense and would not allow our group to converse with each other. I decided to ignore him, while my friends were polite. It was very off putting. I know that 4.0 deli is not at fault for that part of the experience, but it seemed like many of the employees were familiar with the man, so I thought it should be brought up. He asked me for both money and for my pickle. I gave him neither. And rushed out as soon as I was finished eating. Like I said the food was good, but because of the company and lack of beer it turned out not to be the best experience.

This spot is located near SDSU and everything about it pretty much reflects that kind of clientele. Even for someone not in school though it has a lot of appeal for a few different reasons. For one, their menu is full of a ton of options for subs and they all sound pretty good. I had the chicken Caesar and while I wouldn’t say it tasted like what I normally think of as that kind of sandwich, it was still really good. It’s possible that the melted cheese on it has something to do with the flavor being different. The other reason I came down here was because my friend invited me so we can drink some beer. Their happy hour has one of the most ridiculous offers I have ever seen. For ten bucks oh can get a pitcher of craft beer that includes selections from places like Mother Earth, St Archer and even sculpin from Ballast Point. TENBUCKS for sculpin is unheard of since they normally sell for about 6 – 7 for a pint. Unfortunately, they were out of everything but three choices that night due to the Super Bowl but I’d definitely come back. The only weird part of the experience was this strange drunk guy that was trying to get us to donate to his youth soccer team and wouldn’t stop talking to us about God in between stories about being in jail and homeless. He did have a cool pair of socks with mushrooms and weed symbols on them that he traded to my friend for two Coronas. Anyways that I don’t blame on the establishment of course which actually had a nice and friendly cashier.

First off the phone number on their website is not in service and the number provided on Unilocal is useless as well seeing as how no one answers the phone. Decided to drive by anyways just to see if this place was even opened. When my husband and I got there we were the only customers… I ordered the Veg sandwich and it was delicious, my husband however orderes«the philly cheese steak» and it was AWFUL! It was nothing like how a cheese steak should be and it tasted awful… not to mention they made it wrong. I’d get the Veggie sandwich again but I really hope they take a few lessons on how to make a proper Philly Cheese Steak! Sad this place was so disappointing.

I didn’t realize this place opened again. Came here tonight for drinks before the San Diego State basketball game. Ran into the happy hour sign on our way in and came to find when we received the bill that happy hour doesn’t apply to San Diego state game days. Why the heck would you keep the sign up and not honor the sign when it’s in your face as you enter the deli?(This is the reason for the 4 star review) Sandwiches are awesome! No complaints there!

Discovered a new great place! Been here before just for beer– cheap craft beer. But this time went for the sandwich– fantastic! Had the Big Apple– pastrami w/Cole slaw. Great flavor but not huge. Still saved half for later. Had 2 Port Mongo ipa 8.5% $ 4.00 each! Are u kidding me? No where else in town. I know these things!

This used to be my favorite spot to go have amazing food and good beer around SDSU. Since re-opening I must admit it’s a lot different then before. Food quality I feel definitely has gone down, went in and ordered«the godfather» sandwich which before closure was amazing! This time around it was good but not nearly as great as they used to be. Also the other big thing is the feel of the location. I walked in and it had kind of a strange quiet vibe, which I never once experienced before. Not too sure how I feel about this place now. The one amazing thing about this place is their current happy hour; can’t really beat $ 10 pitchers and $ 3 pints. For that reason alone I am still a fan but I hope they restore the food quality to its glory days. It’s unfortunate that this place used to be amazing because I have to compare it to my past experiences, if it were a new location I would have given a slightly better rating.

When this place shut down I was really disappointed. But damn glad to have it back. Just a genuine deli with great sandwiches. Lately they’ve had some awesome prices on the beers but not sure how long that’s going to last. If you’re up near SDSU try and swing by and give it a shot. Favorite Sandwiches: The Godfather The Chipotle Diego Con Queso The Montezuma The Off the Wall Enjoy!

4.0 is back!!! Back with great sandwiches, awesome beer prices, and full with good vibes. Perfect spot to kick back with friends, have a beer and a sandwich and watch a game or two. If you haven’t had their sandwiches, you’re missing out. You guys gotta try the J$; a turkey, avocado, swiss(although i prefer pepperjack), bacon, and a delicious homemade blue cheese that is to die for. And last, their beer prices, i might have to say, BESTINSANDIEGO. Right now they have a special going on, $ 2.50 for a pint of Sculpin? Or any of their huge selection of draft beers?(green flash, delicious ipa, racer 5 and many more) YES! and once it goes back to normal price, $ 4 dlls for the pint?!! Best prices in san diego. All i gotta say, thank god 4.0 Deli is back, a better set up than before, good vibes, delicious food, awesome beers, It’s all Good.

This Deli has a Great new vibe that offers a variety of Craft Beers and Wines with different specials throughout the week at very reasonable prices. The 4 $dollar$ Sculpins that are offered at all times had me at hello!!! Hands down the Godfather sandwich is worth every bite. I’m very pleased to see the old Deli’s menu still intact, with great taste and better quality product in my opinion. The Bar Staff is friendly and frankly awesome, Shoutout to the cooks it’s always delicious. Can’t wait to see what else they have in store to come. 5OFTHOSE *STAR*THINGS

I used to love this place before it closed down, and we were so excited to hear that it had opened back up. We had to go try it out. We kept an open mind and didn’t expect the same, just for it to be good. The food isn’t spectacular, but it isn’t bad either. That’s where the two stars come from. Everything else… It seems more expensive than before, they got rid of their secret menu, the girl at the counter was unprofessional and coughing all over everything when we were ordering, they got our order wrong, and they were out of some of the stuff that we wanted to order. The décor was neither here nor there, but we definitely preferred the old booths to the new holographic(headache inducing) tables. Needless to say we won’t be going back.
