I work out next to Olé’s Tavern and every time I walk by they are pretty busy. I decided to give it a go, I went there with my girlfriend and I was amazed. They had a great selection of alcohol and it was very clean, most places you go to the bar top is always sticky and gross but not here. The bartender gave great service and were very welcoming. Another great thing about this place is the pricing on all of their drinks. I recommend this place to all!

Fun atmosphere, and great bar. but I only know this because we got lucky on my 21st birthday. YOUCANNOT get into this bar without an in state California I.D. and be careful the bouncer makes ignorant comments when you walk past the place. My husband is a great guy and keeps to himself but everytime we’ve walked past this place I’ve had to calm him down. so sad a place with so much potential is a crazy waste of time and space.

Good bar, but it’s rumored they don’t accept out-of-state ID from men to keep the military guys out. Which isn’t very cool and probably illegal. So. Yeah.

Super chill. Great staff. Don’t be a boot. Have a California ID or don’t expect to get in when they’re checking. The change machine is finicky but it works, just don’t try to feed it your crinkly pocket washingtons if you are an impatient sort.

Was in here a few weeks back… Loved the staff and the casual fun vibe! Plus I dropped my credit card in here and the next day. The owner was so very kind and helpful to help me find it ! What a great place !

I love this place! Great cover bands and great vibe for the most part. Get there early and leave before midnight otherwise the zombies come out. I don’t know what is worse the late night doormen or the drunk marines that are not going home with any women. Anyway that’s the way it is at San Clemente bars. Having yourself and your lady insulted by Andre the giant doorman is pretty comical considering the guy is a doorman! Really bro you’re going to insult 2 people that just spent $ 100 plus that are clearly more successful and educated than you will ever be! Haha yeah have fun breaking up fights and deciding what drunk girls you are going to assault! That is my only complaint about this place! get some quality doormen!

Bartenders are great and the vibe is awesome! I did have a very off setting experience last night with the bouncer. I watched him push an intoxicated man and his wife(sober women) down the stairs and out the door. It was NOT appropriate. The man wasnt harming anyone he was just having a little fun. I know a few people had shocked looks on there faces so I don’t feel bad about posting this. Hope they get that bouncer out of there ! If it was me I would have pressed charges. Other than that love this place! Good drinks and reasonable pricing. Again bartenders are awesome !

They recently updated the bar stools, added some more beers and alcohol. How can you NOT love this place? All the bartenders are amazing and pour great drinks. And you can usually find free songs on the jukebox! Now I feel the need to stop in and have a drink on my way home!

Fun atmosphere, not unbearably crowded but it gets VERY warm during the summer. Drinks are cheap and they have pool tables!

I am 22 years old and could not get in this bar. The security guard said he thought my i.d. was fake but that he wasn’t going to take it away from me, he just wouldn’t let me in. My I.d. is VERY real. I’m so confused & irritated by this.

I have been here a few times with friends, and I enjoyed the atmosphere. The jukebox that you can pay for songs you’d like to hear is pretty cool. My only complaint is the space. When this place gets packed, it gets PACKED. There’s some pool tables in the back and a couch on one side by a window which is great. Obviously this place gets busy on weekends, but the bartenders are great. I haven’t tried the food here, but beverage prices seem fair. Again, it just get cramped fairly quickly.

I’ve been coming to Olé’s on a semi-regular basis during the last few football seasons because they are known as one of the few south county Green Bay Packer bars, and every time I tend have a good time. Staff is always friendly and the place has a ‘good neighbor’ vibe about it. Each time I’ve gone, I’ve ended up meeting someone new to chat with while watching the game. Parking can be a bit tricky as it’s on PCH and the nearby public lots are either small or non-existent. Plan on parking on the street, usually behind the bar or a block or so away during games and other peak times. While Olé’s lacks a kitchen, they generally always have one of the local restaurants provide finger foods and snacks gratis for their patrons. On Sunday morning games, I often seen fresh fruit, cheese & crackers, muffins and other pastries. Other times they’ve brought in pizza, or set up a grill outside and make brats. There’s always peanuts that you can toss the shells on the ground and a popcorn machine. And if none of these suit you, there are plenty of places nearby that Olé’s will allow you to bring food in. There’s a few pool tables in the back, plenty of flat screens on all walls, and historic San Clemente pictures adorn the walls. The large, front bay style window is open during the day and there are some nice size booth/tables with couch like backs and pillow sized cushions for your comfort. It’s not a dive bar by any means, but more casual and laid back flavor. One of the great deals is their signature pint sized Bloody Mary’s with a 7oz beer back. You can’t go wrong with that deal as it’s probably one of the most reasonably afforded one’s around. Even if you aren’t a Packer fan, no issue as I’ve seen plenty of Jersey’s from rival teams and everyone seems to get along just fine… actually I’d say most of the patrons probably know each other

Yes! This spot was so fun. We were in town for a work trip and had a hotel situated right down the street from the beach and all the local hang out spots in San Clemente. Took a stroll to Olé’s and had the best time. Alicia was our bartender and she made it a super fun experience. Drinks are reasonably priced and the atmosphere is awesome. You could tell it was the local chill spot.

REFUSEDACTIVEDUTYMILITARY because they weren’t California residents. Don’t get me wrong, this is a crap establishment to begin with but to refuse legal state ID’s and military ID’s is completely ridiculous. In addition to the refusal, they discriminated based on sex. They allowed me to enter with a Florida ID but not my husband or friend who are both active duty Marine Corps with a military ID as well as state ID’s. This was also all done by a guy who insisted he was an active duty staff sergeant in the Marine Corps. Way to serve your brothers big guy… I’m glad you work for an establishment that discriminates. I’ve posted pictures of the ABC liquor laws as well as the gentlemen who allowed my entry but refused my husband. An update: a note was just sent to me saying we were denied service because we caused a scene. That is completely false. I was allowed in and my husband was denied entry at the door based on his ID before saying a word to anyone. You can also see more reviews here and on TripAdvisor stating military discrimination.

Can’t really review this place cause they rejected my id Well a nice lady in front I guess who works there talked us in to coming inside and letting us pet her dog Walked right passed security with her than a soon as we try to order the security ask for are id’s than told us to get out since they only accept residents of California I had the vibe they refuse service to military but all marines at camp Pendleton is a resident of Cali I know this cause I bought a gun and had to prove I’m a resident

If you are looking for a dive style dump to drink while in San Clemente, Olé’s Tavern could work. Little by little San Clamente is succumbing to North County’s influence these days and it seems weekly a «Mom & Pop» is replaced by a franchise of some sort or another. One area that old San Clem is still steeped in is Dive Bars and Olé’s Tavern is undoubtedly a quintessential dive bar for better or worse. The atmosphere is what you would expect. Casual, relatively friendly and kind of gritty. The prices are reasonable for OC’s standards and the crowd varies depending on when you visit. During the weekend days you can expect a sport bar crowd reveling in College and Professional sports. After the games are over a younger, drunker and less civilized group peppered with degenrates can be expected and cliché Californian music(think Sublime, Korn and Pennywise) is turned to blaring levels. I tend to be gone by 7pm myself and nothing good happens after 10pm. Their hard policy is no out of state ID’s are accepted, much to the scorn of the local military presence. Another important tip is that Olé’s is a Green Bay Packers Bar so if you come on a Sunday you will be neck deep with their sometimes toothless and always classless fan base donning dark green and mustard yellow t-shirts. Olé’s is one of those«tweener’s» that could arguably be a 3 or 2 star review but I rounded down for the congregation they attract.
