Dreamy Sweets Pastries

Shannon was wonderful! She made such a fantastic tackle box cake for my husbands birthday. People are still talking about it months later! Delicious and realistic. So fun really went with the theme. She was so excited to work on the cake. I was happy I went with her company!!!

Really Disappointed in Dreamy Sweets. To be clear/​fair, this is a review of the point of sale desserts, not the pies or custom made cakes.
I have been wanting to try Dreamy Sweets for awhile. I had my husband go in and order. When we got home it was not what he saw in the case. We were served by an elementry school aged girl which I did not like.
The cupcakes were $ 3 each and so small — smaller than I make at home. There was no filling or specialness that made me want to ever come back.
We ended up with a carrot cake whoppie cake which is carroty and not sweet. I ate it because my husband hated it (he ordered it). We got an everything bar (ordered a blondie) and hated it– just sugar and coconut. That went in the trash. I am interested in the rhubarb pie here but am turned off by the 4 other things i had :(

For my husband’s surprise birthday I went back to Shannon with a request for a «mountain biking» cake — and she said SURE — how fun. It was so cool — a huge hill covered in rocks/​trees/​paths with a bike and a biker fixing his chain. And the inside was moist and delicious carrot cake with a cream cheese filling. It was heavenly and everyone gobbled it up.
Shannon went the extra effort to make a truly spectacular cake. I will go back to her again with full confidence that it will look great and taste even better.

My husband and I were coming from Hawaii to meet up with family, and thought it would be super fun to spring a surprise on them by telling them the gender of our baby. My husband searched and found this bakery, and called a couple weeks before our visit to arrange to have our cake made. They were super accommodating even though we couldn’t drop off the envelope with the gender right away and said to bring it by when we could.
The woman who owns the place is super sweet and when we came in we talked to her for a bit and told her our story. She was genuinely excited for us and I just knew the cake was going to turn out awesome!
When we went to pick up our cake it was perfect and she returned our envelope to us so we could peek at the inside ourselves after revealing the gender through the cake.
Later that night we got the surprise of a lifetime when my Dad cut the cake (we told him it was a birthday cake, but his birthday surprise was finding out the gender early)…another boy! We could not believe it. The cake presented perfectly. I was so worried I was going to notice the color of the cake before cutting it but it was so perfectly frosted. It also tasted amazing!
Thank you so much, Dreamy Sweets… you guys made a fantastic memory for my family… they were so surprised!

I love Dreamy Sweets Pastries. Everytime I have gone to this cute little bakery, I have always left feeling completely satisfied. The owners, Shannon and her husband, are completely sweet. My husband and I got our wedding cake here, red velvet with a spiced cream cheese filling. We did cake tasting at several places and Dreamy Sweets Pastries was the best by far, in taste and in price. We came back on our one year anniversary and were given complimentary cupcakes, which were delicious. They were very moist, which is a must when looking for the perfect cake or cupcakes. We will definitely be coming back and telling our friends about this wonderful place.

Dreamy Sweets Pastries made cake pops for my wedding and they were AMAZING! I communicated with Shannon throughout the purchase and she was so kind and helpful with all of the details! We had lemon, carrot cake, chocolate mint, and vanilla cake pops and they were all so yummy! I would recommend Dreamy Sweets Pastries to anyone and everyone looking for the best desserts in the area! Shannon is amazing. She took a last minute order for a rhubarb pie and within a few hours, I picked up the most gorgeous, yummy pie from her little store! It was delicious.
She was not only gracious to accommodate me but the pie was incredible. I will order all my pies, pastries and goodies from her in the future.

Thank you, Shannon, for making my mom the absolute best birthday cake that has ever been baked. I asked for a beachy theme with some beachy flowers on top. Shannon made an exquisite beach scene with pearlescent, chocolate-​filled seashells topped with big, beautiful, lifelike hibiscus flowers made of gum paste. Everyone was stunned when I opened the box and even hardcore dieters asked for seconds. Soooooo rich! Thank you so much! My mom is amazing and you gave her the cake to match.

The best rubarb pie ever!!! The crust was perfect and the pie was freshly prepared. I will be ordering my cakes and pies there. The owner went out of her way to accomodate a quick request. Amazing fruit pie!

I was searching for a bakery with gluten free items. I wanted give my kids a treat after the long drive to California when I found this place on Unilocal.This is a great little family run bakery. We ordered gluten free vanilla cupcakes which were delicious. We went back a few days later and ordered gluten free chocolate cupcakes and gluten free peanut butter cookies. All delicious and te owner was so friendly. So glad we found this place! I only wish I took a picture or these yummy cupcakes to post.

This bakery is amazing. Shannon is an artist. This is the second time that I sue them for my daughters birthday cake. This year for her 3^rd birthday Shannon did an amazing Ariel cake. Just fabulous. She is so detailed oriented and a professional. The cake was gorgeous and delicious. I will always order my cake there! Thanks Shannon!

Just happened upon this place today and was very happy that I did. I purchased various baked goods and they were all delicious and definitely homemade. The coconut macaron was amazing! I live about 30 minutes from this place but would gladly drive back just for the macaron. The owner was also very friendly and very nice.

Key lime pie on a whim! After devouring an amazing dessert, I feel I can ask anything of Dreamy Sweets.

Found this place here on Unilocal and lete tell you the 5 stars is not enoug for Dreamy Sweets. I love peanut butter cookies and let me tell you they are the best I have ever had.

0 stars! «No cake is guaranteed to be good so get over it» This was the worst experience ever. The dry, super dense cake that cost me $ 50 went practically untouched at my wife’s birthday party and when I told the owner how bad the cake was he first said he would give us a replacement then the next day told me to get lost he had «changed his mind» and that «no cake is guaranteed to be good so get over it» and this was after I had let slide the fact that they used fondant on the outside of the cake instead of only icing as I asked.

Your hours for today say 8:30 — 7:00 yet there is not a soul in place or any lights on at noon. Good luck with having a business if your not open on. Saturday afternoon

Dreamy Sweets Pastries is like a hidden little gem in San Clemente.
Tucked away in the historic Old City Plaza, right across the lot from a very good Chinese restaurant called New Mandarin Garden, Dreamy Sweets Pastries is home to pretty much anything and everything sweet you can imagine. Muffins, pastries, cupcakes, brownies, cake pops, cookies, lemon bars — they whip ‘em all up every day except Sunday and Monday (they’re closed those days), and they’re all quite fantastic and delicious. I’m especially fond of the chocolate chocolate chip and blueberry muffins, but everything I’ve tried here has been delicious and fresh.
They even started serving tasty quiche here lately, and you can have all kinds of cakes custom-​made and ordered to your liking, for just about any occasion. You can also find a nice, fresh cup of coffee here for under $ 2.
The owner and chief baker, Shannon, is a fantastic baker, a wonderful person and a truly creative powerhouse. She hand draws and paints all the signage in and around the shop, and is always warm, welcoming and engaging to her visitors. Walking into Dreamy Sweets Pastries feels like walking into a neighborhood bakery from some simpler, sweeter, bygone era in America — almost like something you’d find on Main Street U.S.A. in Disneyland — minus the inflated prices and long lines.
If you do discover and sample the goods at Dreamy Sweets Pastries, you’ll probably find yourself coming back for more and more and more. At least that’s been my story. Old City Plaza as a whole can also be a lot of fun to explore. There’s usually plenty of parking available in the big lot that the shops encircle too.

When you are tired of tasteless market pastries do a search for this hidden little gem. Lost in a strip mall most people pass by, this small family business welcomes you with friendliness and good eats. When we had a special birthday party with outrageous demands for special art on two different cakes, Shannon came through in spades! The cakes were photographed more than the people at the party. Job well done and one that very few bakeries could do or even try. Nothing beats the entrepreneurial spirit of a local business.

After eating dinner in Dana Point, we were looking for something sweet. We found this little gem of a place and it did not disappoint. The case had lots of goodies decorated for Easter. We all shared a chocolate brownie, chocolate sponge cake bunny and white cake/​choc frosted bird nest. All were super fresh and delicious. We will definitely be back!

I chose Dreamy Sweets to take care of my wedding cake and cupcakes and am so glad and could not have been happier! Shannon was so incredibly helpful and supportive. I was pretty relaxed about the whole thing and was mostly anxious because I knew what I wanted everything to taste like, but had no ideas about how I wanted it to look. Shannon was incredibly helpful in this regard and everything turned out beautifully! She made us 4 different flavors of cupcake and a small wedding cake for us to cut at the reception. Everyone raved about how delicious they were. Most weddings I’ve been to the cake tends to fall short — I think aesthetics usually win out over flavor. Not the case here! Everything looked beautiful and fit in with my sunflower theme and tasted good. I was concerned the cupcakes wouldn’t be as go since they’d been sitting out, but they were incredibly moist! The vanilla cupcake had real vanilla bean in it! So delicious!
In addition to her skills as a baker and business woman, Shannon is incredibly sweet. She even left us a wedding card when she dropped the cakes off. If I ever recover from planning my wedding and choose to have another party, I will definitely use Dreamy Sweets again!
