Nice cute café. Had Bagel Bomb, Hazelnut cappuccino and Vanilla Latte. Perfect breakfast place in Los Rios Historic District.

Like other places, they run out of pastries too so make sure you come early if you want their famous almond croissant. They usually have other items but that’s the one definitely worth getting(& blueberry muffin) The coffee is decent, slightly overpriced but I guess it’s expected for a small coffee shop — esp with the quality of the beans. I feel like these kind of places attract hipsters from all over and makes you forget that you’re in historic san juan capistrano until you walk out. I’m not hating though, this place has earned a reputation and the coffee is pretty strong. I just wish the staff was a little bigger cuz when it gets busy, they have one guy at the counter and one guy making the espressos which can result in a long wait for your cup of joe

I have nothing but positive things to say about this place. From the first time I entered the atmosphere won me over. The house is so charming and theres plenty of sitting outside. Inside is a bit limited but they have their roasting equipment on display which I love to watch! Coffee is my favorite. I order just a black cup of brewed joe and it’s always on point. I’ve had the lattes and other options as well and all have been delicious. Customer service is friendly and after going twice, a batista remember me which I think is important for a coffeeshop. This location is my favorite and I always come back even though I live in Fullerton. The trek down is totally worth it. Thanks Hidden House for making each trip something fo look forward to!

This place is… okay. It’s a cute area to study or hangout with friends, but the coffee was cold by the time I was drinking it and my boyfriends to-go cup was leaking all over the place! It’s also very crowded inside and the tables outside didn’t look clean and the staff wasn’t very helpful with cleaning up old dishes that people left at their tables. I do think the staff is very nice and the place is super cute, but it could use a little help

A really nice place to hangout, quaint shop in a super cute area. Food is pretty good. Coffee is a bit weak. Coffee: Overall, the coffee tasted weak and was a bit of a let down. We tried the Guatemala and Ethiopia pour over. The Guatemala was incredibly weak. It tasted like lightly coffee flavored water. Not bad, just not what I’d consider a satisfying cup of coffee. We had mixed opinions about the Ethiopia. I thought it was pretty weak as well, like a slightly more coffee flavored cup of water(with some interesting floral notes). Again, not bad, just weak. My friend(who is also picky about his coffee) liked the Ethiopia, and didn’t find it overly weak. Food: Pretty good. I probably wouldn’t come here for the food, but I’d certainly order the food if I was already here. The cream cheese and smoked salmon filled bagel ball(they probably have a much more eloquent name for it) was interesting. A bit dough-y in the center, but fun to eat. The cinnamon bun was pretty tasty. It wasn’t gooey and hot like I tend to like, but the cream cheese topping was really good and the whole thing wasn’t too sweet. Vibe: Fantastic — a really nice place to sit and relax. Like the other little shops and restaurants nearby, it’s a super cute little cottage. Hidden House is the perfect name for it. They have plenty of seating in– and outside. We went on a weekend and it was busy, but we were still able to find a seat outside. Most of the people who work here seem friendly. After you’ve finished your coffee, the surrounding area is also a really nice place to enjoy the day. Price: On the high-side of standard. We paid a little over $ 9 for 2 cups of pour over coffee. However, they give you a small carafe instead of a cup; so maybe they just charge a little more and give you a little more than other shops. Parking: There are parking lots on both sides on the train tracks, plus some hard to come by street parking. It’s an older, mixed residential area with narrow streets, where parking would typically be awful; but, the 2 nearby lots make it not too bad. We found a spot in the smaller lot west of the train tracks without much trouble. Don’t bother driving down Los Rios Street. — There’s no public parking, and it’s essentially a pedestrian sidewalk that, for some reason, is still open to cars. Overall, Hidden House in San Juan Capistrano is a really nice place to come spend some time. I wouldn’t come specifically for the coffee or the food, which are both fine; but would come back to hangout(and order coffee and food). This is a review specifically for Hidden House in SJC, not the other locations, which have a very different vibe.

First time here today. Went in with my wife and two young kids, they couldn’t of been nicer. Good service, great décor. The blonde dude making the drinks put a heart design in my sons hot chocolate which was cool. My latte was good, I’m Not a coffee aficionado but I loved it.

Great hidden gem! Delicious chai latte & almond crossant. This little place was busy and the service wasn’t too bad considering. Sat outside on the quaint little porch and enjoyed our find. Definitely woukd come back!

This is a really neat coffee shop nestled in a quaint village. The place is pretty quirky. It feels like you are sitting in an old timey cottage, because you are. The coffee is really good, prepared by people who know what they are doing. The pastries are also well made and worth checking out. If you are looking for something a little heavier, try the bagel ball. Definitely a unique item. Parking is a little tricky. Don’t try to park on the strrret, but use the garage located on the other side of the railroad tracks.

I’m not sure if I missed the hype but the iced tea was $ 3 and the iced coffee was also $ 3– which means, I think it was overpriced. the coffee and tea were a-ok and the establishment was also a-ok to me. This place is nestled in a really cool and quaint part of San Juan Capistrano right across from the train station. It was super busy when we stopped by for an afternoon beverage. Nothing really stood out with the coffee and the service. I had an average experience. We may be back in the future when we are in the area.

This is one of our top 3 coffee places ever! We have been coming here for a couple years now. It’s our happy place. We ride our bikes from Lake Forest almost every Saturday an HHC is our reward. We often meet friends here and it quickly becomes their favorite too. Their coffee is excellent! We almost always get the same thing. One black hot tea, an Ethiopian pour over coffee and an almond croissant. We try to arrive right at 8am so the croissant is still warm! So excellent! My tea is lovely and comes in a cute teapot. The pour over is perfection! It puts a big smile on my husbands face. The owner, Ben, and his Mom, Grace are so nice! We love the atmosphere, it’s like stepping back in time. We love to watch the train come in and the people watching is great! They have a nice variety of baked goods that are baked on the premises. My husband has a Primal Wear coffee jersey that he always wears when we ride to Hidden House. We love that they now have one in Lake Forest and one in Costa Mesa.

Super cool vibe. Located in the historic Mission San Juan Capistrano area, it’s right across from the Amtrak tracks as you enter from the road. It’s a little house with a front porch and a small front yard. Small tables dot the property. Inside, there is a large historic coffee roaster as well as some additional seating. You can order from the counter in the back and get some of their pastries, which looked delicious. We settled on an almond croissant to share and coffees. So glad we did. We needed the energy boost. The coffee was quite good, as was the croissant. They put a decent amount of almond filling in the croissant. We just chilled on the front porch, which had a nice SoCal breeze.

Found this«hidden» gem. They have the best chai latte I have ever had. My poison is the mixed chai, half vanilla and half spiced. I just wish they had a larger size though. I guess it’s for the best makes me take my time drinking and actually enjoying it. The staff is friendly and down to earth. They also have homemade pastries. When Im driving to San Diego, this is my pit stop. Can’t wait for the Santa Ana location to open up. It’s still a bit of a drive, but I love the coffee so much heck I’m willing to drive to get my fix.

Love the place Went there with my girlfriends on a quiet Thursday morning. We had mocha and really enjoyed it. Ordered banana bread to go which was really fresh. You can smell the freshness of the pastry there where they make their own in the kitchen. Nice calming surroundings, very relaxing atmosphere. We sat outside under the trees, and seriously, I could stay there all day!

Slowest-barista-ever I had a cappuccino and the coffee itself was okay but the experience was ruined by the terribly slow barista. To top off the poor experience, the coffee wasn’t very warm but after waiting for what felt like ages, I had no desire to ask for a fix because who knows how much longer I would have to stand there.

This is gonna be short and sweet. Bagel bomb was hella bomb– not hard like a normal bagel. It was also not too salty and not too bland. Coffee was great and reasonably priced. It literally is a hidden spot if you’re not from around here. Took me to a little street with very limited parking. After you get coffee, you can walk around the street or where the train tracks are and take a front picture of coffee shop. It took me over an hour to drive here but worth the trip. I remember taking a field trip up here to see the misson and when I took a train to the beach, I remember looking out the window and seeing this yellow little house. This city just brings back good memories.

Really really good coffee here. And they’re super fast! Told them we were trying to catch a train in 5 minutes and they had our lattes out to us in 2! I’ll certainly be coming back for an expertly crafted latte with properly steamed milk and well roasted coffee beans. Great staff, rad environment, and amazing coffee. Thank you hidden house coffee.

Started our adventure Saturday morning 1÷9÷16, with a stop to this little gem. We have been to Los Rios Street too many times to number… So why is this our 1st time here? It won’t be our last! Had their DELICIOUS«fresh» homemade blueberry muffin(sorry no pic, I gobbled it) while I sipped on a hot cup of heaven! A non-fat decaf cappuccino & my hubby loved their Latte! We all enjoyed our goodies while relaxing at one of their tables on the front porch. Then it was off to tour the cute streets & shops in this quaint little village again. My out of town relatives fell in love with ALL of it!

A hidden gem of San Juan Capistrano. Definite favorite and they make a mean latte! The baristas here truly care about their craft and their customers, which is consistently shown through their attention to detail, patience(for indecisive patrons such as myself… Haha), and willingness to answer any questions their guests might have! I ordered a vanilla latte and my friends ordered a macchiato & a pour over. I also paired my drink with the almond croissant that I read so many Unilocalers rave about and I wanted to see if it lived up to all the talk… and personally, I really enjoyed it. I don’t know how they were able to pack so much almond flavor into one croissant because it was truly a joy to eat every morsel. If you’re questioning what pastry or food item to get(and you don’t have any nut allergies), I highly recommend the almond croissant! From customer service to presentation to the quality of the products Hidden House provides, this is definitely one of my favorite Orange County coffee shops! It’s like a mini escape from reality too, as its located in the Los Rios Historic District and after you grab a cup of joe, you can take a stroll past other local businesses, the petting zoo, or even stop by the Mission. I truly feel that it’s location really adds to Hidden House’s charm! For seating, you can either opt to sit inside(though there is limited seating) or on typical and expectedly beautiful OC days outside! :) All in all, If I ever find myself in the area again, I definitely will be back to get my hands on an almond croissant and a cup of coffee! I honestly love everything about this place because it’s not some franchise, but a legit local business with charm and uniqueness that is truly their own.

Great little coffee house on the same street as Ramos House! The bright yellow house exterior, cozy porch and intriguing name lured us in. Everyone loved their coffee and i loved my chai tea. The place smells delicious and you can tell their beans are of good quality from different parts of the worlds. Too bad I was too full to try their bagel bombs(balls of bagel with bacon and cream cheese) but definitely next time!
